Chapter 78
Chapter 78
Sofia’s POV
I quickly glanced up from my thighs on hearing footsteps and my eyes landed on Ethan’s build before
ke had completely made his way into the sitting room and finally a few feet away from the couch I was This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
currently sitting on.
“I just got back from speaking with Mr Ricci, and he had given his permission for us to go to the mall
together.”
My heart soared a little and I pushed myself unto my feet with my bag still against my tights and was
currently being supported by my hand.
“That’s great then, let’s go then.” I said to him and quickly pulled the bag up to sling it over my shoulder,
my phone still clutched firmly in my left hand.
“Oh, ma’am? I still haven’t started because I wanted to be sure Mr Ricci had given his permission. And
when I found out that he hadn't, I didn’t bother going back out to start it and had instead gone in to
request permission for him.”
“It’s alright then.” I said after a few seconds, taking an unconscious step backwards and pushing my
hair out of my face when it had started to get in between my lips.
“If you’d wait for a few minutes, I’d go get it ready and would be back here to get you, ma’am.” He
started to say once again and I nodded my head once, moving my weight from from foot to foot as I
watched him turn around and finally disappear out the doorway leading into the sitting room.
I sat back on the couch once he had left and leaned back against the couch backrest, as my mind
started to wander.
What if I end up not ever getting the hang of this painting thing?
I dragged in a deep breath and puffed the breath out after a few seconds, leaning forward to place my
elbows on my tights and to stare straight ahead without actually seeing a thing, as I allowed my mind to
begin to travel.
I mean, it wasn’t like I hadn’t been interested in painting throughout my whole life until this moment, it
just hadn’t ever cross my mind when I was still in high school because I knew it was of no use–
because I knew without even trying that it was going to be a complete waste of time since my father
wasn’t going to ever give his permission for his only daughter to start getting her unnecessarily dirty
doing something as stupid as painting.
I shook my head a little when hair started fall into my face once again. One of the things I do countless
times in a day is the act of pushing and pulling and brushing my hair out of my face. It was inevitable,
once you had hair, it was going to keep getting into your face every little minute.
It the hair was in curls, it wouldn’t be as bad as those with straight hair, like the hair I had on my head.
Ethan made his appearance at the doorway and I glanced sideways to land my eyes on his body
before I started to lift myself out of the couch, figuring that he had already started up the car and was
already coming back to get me like he had said before.
“The car had been started and checked, ma’am. We can leave now if you’re ready.” He said and I
nodded my head at him before stopping a few feet away from him.
“I am ready, let’s go already.”
I watched as he shifted away from the way leading back out of the sitting room and gestured for me to
lead the way, which I did after a fleeting second hesitation.
I made my way out of the sitting room and through the house, walking through the hallway before
pausing before the door leading out of the house. I was about to raise my hand and place it on the door
handle in order to pull the door open, but Ethan was at my side in a second and he was pulling the door
open for me, gesturing for me to step out of the door first.
I faintly heard him pull the door shut firmly behind him as my eyes roamed around the whole
surroundings that I could lay my eyes on, not seeing any car in sight and not dwelling on that fact
because I knew Ethan was going to have it sorted out, if there was a problem with it.
“Good afternoon, ma’am.” I heard an unknown voice from my side which made me jolt a little as I
turned around to stare up into the face of a stranger – whom
I was sure was a part of Luca guards, seeing as he’s in their regular uniform… even though Ethan and
Ryan's uniform were quite different from that of the rest.
Does it mean that particular uniform was diesgned or picked out because of me?
I hope not, I am not that important.
“Good afternoon,” I said to him with a small nod of my head and watched as he climbed down the few
stairs in front of the house to join a bunch of other guards who were currently coming out from a corner
of the house which I couldn’t see from the position I was currently in at the moment.
“Ryan’s bringing the car over ma’am, it would be here in a few moments.” Ethan said and I nodded my
head once without glancing around at him, not lifting my eyes away from the guards who were moving
towards the other side of the compound.
I watched as if in a movie as one of the guards turned around and landed his eyes on my building. He
paused in his tracks and the rest of the guards did the same after a few moments, their eyes landing on
my face in the next second.
The moment realization dawned on their faces, they were all bowing their heads at me – right there,
beneath the sun, like I was suddenly someone extremely powerful and important – and I have never
felt more embarrassed.
I felt color darkening my cheeks instantly as I awkwardly bowed my head a little in return before lifting
my right hand and waving at them a little.
Before anything could happen next, I watched as the car which I had ridden in a couple of times
suddenly pulled up before the house in the next second.
“Let’s head down ma’am.” Ethan said behind me and I stared down for a few seconds as I started to
climb down the small amount of stairs, careful of my heels not getting bent right there on the stairs as I
stepped on the film ground.
Ryan stepped out of the driver’s seat and I stared up at him, noting at the back of my mind that he was
a little bit taller than Ethan. His stare was as expected, a little bit darker than that of Ethan and I
glanced away from his face as soon as I remembered how he had witnessed me in so many
embarrassing moments, feeling dark color flood my cheeks in the next second.
“Good afternoon, ma’am.” His loud and familiar voice echo above my head and I lifted my head to stare
up at him, nodding my head a little at him.
“Hello, Ryan.” I whispered quietly and watched as Ethan finally got to the end of the stairs and was
stepping towards the back of the car to pull the door open in invitation for me. I stepped away from the
spot I was currently in and made my way towards the back of the car, murmuring a thank you to Ethan
behind my shoulders as I carefully stepped into the car and watched as he slammed the door shut after
me.
Ryan was already behind the wheels before I had completely gotten into the car and I watched as
Ethan mace his way around the car to step into the other side of the front of the car.
Ryan started up the car and after about a minute, he started to drive the car out of the compound. I
watched in fascination as the big gates somehow pulled open as if it was currently being controlled by
some buttons.
It would never look cool to me, coming from someone whose former house where she had grown up in,
still made use of the regular gates where it has to get pulled open by a gateman.
The car got driven out of the compound and was out in the middle of the busy expressway after a few
minutes. I glanced outside the window to see the way the cat was speeding really fast, just like the way
our own car was also moving fast.
Today was a Sunday and a part of my mind had been unconsciously thinking that the road was going to
be a free and less busy road, but now– obviously, I had thought wrong.
The roads were extremely busy for a few more minutes and I was sure we were going to get stuck in
traffic by the look of things.
I leaned back into my seat and pulled in a deep breath, the leather of the seats and the air freshener
along with the whole neatness and freshness of the inside of the car went into my lungs immediately. I
held the breath in my lungs for a few moments before allowing it to slowly ease of my throat.
Now, to the mall.
