Chapter 77
Chapter 77
Sofia’s POV
I made my way out of the bedroom and down the stairs in a few minutes, going directly into the sitting
and as expected, finding my phone on one of the couches. I picked the phone up and quickly pulled
open the pouch of the phone– and indeed, my black card was in it, in the place I had kept it ever since I
got my phone and the card.
“Oh, you look stunning.” A familiar voice gushed out in a loud excited voice and I glanced up from the
pouch of my phone which I was currently pushing back into place, to lock eyes with Matilda who was
standing in the doorway leading into the sitting room.
“Thank you, Matilda.” I replied to her as I made my way around the couch and stood a few minutes
before her. We stood still before each other for a few seconds before cracking a smile at the same
time.
“Can you please help me get Ethan or Ryan?” I said to her after a few seconds, slightly moving my
weight from foot to foot on the low inch heels.
“Alright ma’am. Do you need something, or?” She asked after a few seconds, her eyes glancing down
at my body for a fleeting second. I nodded my head immediately, smoothing my hand over the side of
my hair and moving my weight from foot to foot.
“I’ll be back in a few minutes then.” She replied before spinning around and exiting the sitting room,
through the doorway which she had bent standing at, moments ago.
I moved deeper into the sitting room and walked towards one of the large windows in the room to stand
before it. I lifted my hands up and lightly pressed it into the soft material of the curtains, allowing the silk
of the material to slide through my fingers as I pulled one part of tne curtains open to stare out the
closed window.
The window was high and the lower part of it was at the length of my shoulders, when I was currently
being lifted up a little with the aid of the heels I had on at the moment. I stared out the window and took
in the surroundings I was currently being shown. This part of the window was most definitely not the
front of the house, because I’ve never seen this part before – which is somehow understandable
because I haven’t had the time to walk around the house’s compound and discover other parts of the
house.
I’d probably try to go they next week… I wonder why Matilda didn’t offer to show me around the outside
of the house and around the whole surrounding.
I stretched my right hand out and pressed my whole fingers against the clean surface of the window,
feeling the hotness of the window press into the skin of my palm. I began to absentmindedly trace my
fingers against the window, knowing it wouldn’t be right for me to pull it open, because I know just how
dangerous the world I was currently living in is.
Back at home, we were not allowed to open the windows in order to protect ourselves, our household
and also not to give the bad people an easy means of getting in, or targeting someone right there from
the open window.
Knowing how dangerous Luca was and the kind of things and people he rolls with, he undoubtedly has
a lot of enemies and I might as well be on their list of wanted people because they’d want to get to me
in order to get to him.
It’s not like he’d ever be affected if I was one day kidnapped or killed by one of his enemies.
I mean… Why would he even care in the first place?
I pushed my hair away from my face and dragged in a deep breath, the flowery scent clinging unto the
soft material of the curtain drifted into my nose after a few seconds and I inhaled deeply once again,
only because the scent had smelled really good and I wanted to have another smell.
I faintly heard footsteps from the other side of the sitting room and instantly stepped away from the
window, turning around in the particular spot that I was in– to stare up at Ethan who was standing a few
feet away with his hands behind his back and his face in its usual blank expression.
I felt myself start to flush in embarrassment immediately as soon as what I had just done started to
register in my head immediately. I had quickly moved away from the window to turn around because
that had been something I’d do back at home, when I wasn’t married yet – because I knew I wasn’t
supposed to do that, and would get scolded each time I was caught doing that… but then I had
unconsciously thought I was still back at home and would get scolded, when in reality, I would never
get scolded here by anybody, since I had automatically became their boss as soon as I got married to
Luca, a week ago.
Even if I was to get scolded, that was only going to be done by Luca.
Not because the rest of the people here were younger than me or anything, but because of the respect
I had apparently automatically earned after I became ‘Mrs Ricci’.
“Good afternoon ma’am.” Ethan greeted me and I watched as he bowed his head a little. I
unconsciously took two backwards, hoping I hadn’t appeared guilty or flustered to him at first– when I
had hurriedly turned around faintly hearing the sound of footsteps. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
“Good afternoon, Ethan. How was your day?” I asked, lifting my left hand to move it through my hair
and to push some strands of my hair which were already falling into my face, away from my face.
“It has been alright so far.” He replied and paused for a few moments before continuing almost
immediately, “Do you need anything ma’am?”
I nodded my head immediately, resisting the urge to chew on the lower part of my lip as I started to
supply him an answer. “Uh yeah, I need your help.”
I shook my head after a moment, knowing that wasn’t supposed to be how the sentence was supposed
to be arranged. “I mean, not like I need — need your help.” I paused for a moment and refused to be
unnerved by his blank gaze as I continued. “I am about to head over to the mall to go shop for some
painting equipment.”
“Oh, alright ma’am. I’d go start up the car right now.” He said as he turned around and made his way
out of the sitting room before I could say anything else. I stared at the doorway which he had
disappeared out of for a few seconds before turning back around and moving back towards the
window. I placed my fingers against the glass of the window and felt the hotness of the window burn
into my fingers for a few moments before pulling my hand away and taking a step backwards.
I was tugging the curtains back into place before hearing light footsteps start to echo from the other
side of the sitting room, but this time, I only gripped on the soft material of the curtain a little more
tighter without jolting or jerking away from the window all of a sudden.
“Ma’am?”
I turned around to stare up into the face of Ethan once again.
“Yes Ethan?” I questioned, wondering if the car had already been started up in such a short period of
time.
“I wanted to confirm with you if you had taken permission from Mr Ricci about the mall you wanted to
go to.” He explained slowly and I blinked once, lowering my gaze before finally shaking my head once,
after a few moments.
“I didn’t take permission yet.” I stated, keeping the fact that I didn’t plan to go ask for permission from
Luca and had been hoping either Ethan or Ryan would take permission from Luca themselves– all to
myself.
“If you’d give me a few moments, I’d get to Mr Ricci and try to get permission from him.” Ethan started
to say almost immediately, and when I didn’t say anything in reply, he continued. “Let’s hope he’d agree
to it and grant us permission to drive you over to the mall.”
I nodded my head and watched as he once again exited the sitting room through the doorway, taking a
few steps towards one of the closest couches in the sitting room to perch on the hand of them, placing
my bag on my thighs and using that opportunity to rest my legs — since I knew I was going to be on my
feet for a really long while once I get the the mall, because ever without ever doing this before, I knew it
was going to be a lot of work.
I plucked my phone from the insides of my bag and tapped against the screen in order to check what
the time says. It was currently a few minutes after one p.m in the afternoon.
If hopefully Luca gives us permission to go shop, we’d be back before four p.m… undoubtedly.
I bounced my feet absentmindedly against the couch, humming beneath my breath and digging my
little finger on my left hand into the soft white hairy material of the couch as the second went by without
waiting on anyone.
