Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Thirteen

“What are you saying?” Xavier’s voice came from behind them. “She got married to me so how is it that you are her only family?” he asked going to hold Jessica by the shoulders.

“It’s just that” Olivia started but trailed off when she could not defend herself.

At that moment she felt like it was a wrong idea for her to have tried to extort them it seemed like they were not going to be moved by her ridiculous tactics.

“Jessica can you take Papa upstairs I would like to have a conversation with your aunt here”

“But…”

“Oh don’t worry and just take him upstairs. It is nothing serious and I can assure you that I will be up soon” he said cutting her off.

Jessica nodded and went to stand behind Dawson’s chair she turned in the direction. To be honest with herself she was greatly uninterested in being in her aunt’s presence. She had had enough of her for a week and she had spent just a day. Jessica could not deny that Olivia was very exhausting to deal with.

“I guess I better go to my room,” Genevieve said as she awkwardly left the room.

“Let’s have a conversation,” Xavier said leading her to the living room. “Please sit,” he said gesturing to the couch as he sat too.

She looked around and sat down giving a distance between them. She was nervous and she did not like the vibe she was getting from him. It felt like she was going to be exposed to all her life crimes.

“Why did you send me this bunch of messages?” he said dropping his phone to the table in front of them.

Olivia picked up the phone and read through the messages. Xavier received many more messages like the one he got at night yesterday. The sender kept threatening to expose his wife’s secret. Xavier would have ignored it as a spam message but the timing of the messages and her arrival made him suspicious of her.

He had someone look into her and found out that the message came from a burner phone meaning it was untraceable. He had instructed the person to keep on digging till he had strong and valid evidence of who did it.

“What makes you think I did this?” she asked as she sat resting her back on the couch.

“Because putting two and two together you should be the one. It was obvious that you are desperate for money and blackmailing one is the greatest and easiest way to get money” Xavier said.

“I can never be the one to do my niece dirty like that” she explained. “I know it might sound crazy but I did not send this message. There is no way Jessica had anything she would be ashamed about sharing in public” Olivia told him.

“Maybe you should have an expert team look into it as much as they can because I did no such thing”

“We would do this and if we find who did it we won’t go easy on them,” he said in a threatening voice.

“You should”

Jessica was pacing around the room wondering what it was Xavier was discussing with her aunt. The doorknob clicked and opened. He walks in and stands by the entrance.

“What did you discuss?” she asked rushing to him.

“We discussed why she should leave you alone” he lied.

How could he tell her the situation when he had not gotten it under control? It would make him seem incompetent as he was not able to handle a common phone troll.

“And?”

“And what?” he asked pushing himself from the door and walking inside.

“What did she say?” She was hoping that she would decide to go after being threatened by Xavier but she also had a soft spot for her aunt. After all, when her mom had her, she spent the early years of her life seeing her until she was sent to the orphanage home.

“It doesn’t seem like she is leaving,” he said entering the closet. She followed him in and he stopped when she did. “I am going to change now. Are you going to watch?” he asked.

“Oh, my goodness. What has come over me? I’m sorry sorry” she mumbled as she turned and left. She sat on the bed waiting to hear whatever it was that he had to say. She needed to know what was going on but it was obvious he was least interested.

“So what are you going to do about it?” Jessica asked as she stood up when he came out.

“What can I do? She’s family to you so I can’t possibly kick her out. I am sure you might need her soon. Moreover, you are already fond of my aunt, maybe would grow fond of her too” Xavier said.

“Just give it a little more time”

Xavier was not ready to lose her as to him she was the prime suspect. How could he allow her to escape? She would be under his watch until he found the person behind the mysterious message.

“Do you want to maybe go out and grab something?” Xavier asked out of the blue.

“What?” she asked taken aback by his request.

“You know it was in the list you wrote down. Getting so things from the grocery store in casual clothes in the cool of the evening. Just the two of us” he recited from the brain. He had put the entire thing in his mind and could say it without looking at the paper.

“Yeah, I told you that you do not have to do that again. It would make my heart skip and then I might start to fall for you. Remember we can’t have romantic feelings for each other.” she said as if she was teaching a junior class student.

“And I heard you before. I just want to do this”

“If you are worried about me not getting to have any romantic moments in my life then you have nothing to worry about. I’ll be fine” she said going to sit down.

He dragged her up by the hand she came face to face with him. The features of their lips almost touching.

“Go get changed into something casual and meet me downstairs”
