Chapter 401
Chapter 401
At the company.
Jacob poured out all the avocados he had brought back from the dock. They looked very fresh and
there was nothing unusual about them.
He frowned when he didn't see what they were trying to find.
Liam took so much effort just to transport the fruit?
This was impossible!
He didn't believe it.
But in front of him were placed fruits.
"All our efforts were in vain?" Jacob said with a deep frown, looking at the avocado on the table.
The two 'bodyguards' glanced at Jacob and said, "It took us so much effort and we still failed to figure
out how he got them in. It's not that easy."
Jacob stroked his chin with his eyes fixed on the avocados. They were right. It was not that easy to find
out. Otherwise, Liam would have fallen.
"What about these things?" One of the "bodyguards" asked.
Jacob took a fruit knife and cut it. "I wonder how does it taste."
However, after cutting it, everyone was dumbfounded.
What was it?
There was no flesh in the avocado, but a green lump inside.
This was clearly the lump that grew out of the chestnut blossom after it withered.
The drug was scraped from this lump.
The three of them glanced at each other. They thought the contraband they had brought in were
finished products. They never expected these were semi-finished products.
"Unbelievable." Jacob frowned, holding a so-called avocado. He found it hard to believe that they
smuggled the drugs in this way.
Jacob looked at the two 'bodyguards'. "I'll leave the rest to you."
With these, combined with the clues provided by Bella, they should be able to figure it out soon.
They packed the things and prepared to bring them back to the station. NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
After they left, Jacob did not relax.
"I'll take you back," said Jacob, looking at Arya.
From the beginning to the end, Arya had remained a stolid face.
"No need. I want to stay alone for a while." Arya sat at her desk and didn't seem ready to go back.
Jacob frowned. He wondered what she was going to do here.
Jacob quietly left the office. He walked to the stairwell and called Bridget. "Why don't you come to the
company? Arya doesn't feel well."
Bridget told him that she would be right there.
Seeing that Bridget was going out, Daisy asked, "Where are you going?"
Bridget took her coat and said after a moment of thought, "Have supper with Jacob."
She knew Daisy wouldn't have a problem if she used Jacob as an excuse.
Sure enough, she said, "Hurry up. Don't be late."
Bridget left without saying anything more.
She changed her shoes at the door and went out.
When she arrived at the company, Jacob was standing at the elevator upstairs waiting for her.
As soon as she got out of the elevator, Bridget asked quickly, "What happened to my sister-in-law?"
Jacob turned to the office. "When I said about taking her home, she said she wanted to stay alone and
locked herself in the office."
"I'll go take a look." As Bridget spoke, she walked towards the office. Jacob held her back and said, "Is
she like this at home?"
Bridget shook her head. Arya was good at hiding her emotions in front of her family.
Bridget was particularly depressed at the thought of all the grey hair on Arya's head.
She understood the reason.
"I don't know how to help her." Bridget looked at Jacob. "Each of us doesn't feel good. We're very clear
about it, but none of us dares to mention it. We pretend we're fine and let others think so. But we're not
fine at all. We can only heal ourselves in a place where no one is here."
Bridget squatted down, covering her face and sobbing.
Jacob didn't know how to comfort her.
He could only squat down and hold her shoulder. "Be strong."
"What are you doing here?" When Arya heard something outside, she came out and saw Jacob and
Bridget there.
"Bridget came to see you. We met here and had a few words," Jacob explained.
Arya looked at Jacob and her gaze fell on Bridget, who had turned her face away and dared not look at
her. She seemed to realize that they were not like what Jacob said.
But Arya was not sure what it was.
So she asked tentatively, "Do you know something?"
Did Daisy show any signs that Bridget or Jacob had discovered their intentions?
"What do you know?" Jacob asked deliberately in confusion.
Arya shook her head. "Nothing. It's late. Bridget, let's go back."
Bridget had calmed down, but her red eyes failed to conceal her emotion.
Arya looked at her, deep in thought, but she didn't ask anything.
"I'll see you off." Jacob raised his hand and pressed the elevator. At this time, there was no one in the
company. The elevator was parked on the top floor and opened in an instant.
Arya walked in first, followed by Bridget and Jacob.
None of them said anything in the elevator.
It went down floor by floor, and their eyes were fixed on the number...
It stopped.
Bridget stepped forward to open the door. "I drove over."
"I'll drive you home. It's too late." Jacob wouldn't be relieved until he saw them home.
Just as Arya wanted to say no, Bridget closed the door. "Arya, let's get on Jacob's car."
Arya felt that Bridget and Jacob were hiding something.
Her eyes narrowed.
"Bridget..."
"Let's go." Bridget took Arya's arm and walked towards Jacob's car. Jacob stood in front of the back
door and pulled the door to wait for them to enter.
After about twenty minutes, the car stopped at the door of the Old Residence. Arya and Bridget got out
of the car.
Arya walked ahead and opened the door. Daisy was in the living room with Ramona in her arms.
Seeing Arya coming back, Daisy said, "Jacob asked Bridget out today."
She added before Arya could speak, "I think Bridget and Jacob probably have a chance..."
Before she could finish her sentence, she saw the person standing behind Arya...
