Wayne took Pearl to the hospital where she brought Darius to see the same nurse.

Wayne was so angry he kicked a nearby chair, nearly waking Darius. Realizing his mistake, he spoke quieter but still furiously. "What a pair of sh*tty siblings. How could they do this to a child? And Luther even dared to call me. If I had known, I would've beaten him up at the beach."

Pearl was surprised to hear Wayne speak so angrily, but she knew he had children too and understood why he felt so protective of Darius.

Pearl sighed. "Nina walked into the sea, and we don't know if she's alive. Luther is waiting to hear from the coast guard."

Wayne suggested, "I'll talk to the coastguards and tell them not to try too hard to find her." Pearl shook her head. "No need. The sea was rough, and if Nina was caught by the tide, she wouldn't last. There's almost no chance she survived."

"She deserves it," Wayne said bluntly.

Pearl rubbed her forehead. "Maybe, but I think we should leave soon. It's not safe here." Wayne reassured her, "I'll handle everything. Don't worry. I'll make sure we're all safe." "Thanks, Wayne," Pearl said, her tone more formal than usual.

Wayne looked puzzled. "You're not usually so formal, Pea. What's going on?"

"I've been through a lot. I guess I just feel like life should be warmer and kinder," Pearl replied softly.

"And Luther? What about him?" Wayne pressed.

Pearl paused, her expression complicated. "Luther... I'm not sure if he's good or bad yet, but he might be useful." She took a deep breath. "Help me look into something." Wayne straightened up, ready to help. "I'm listening."
