Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1254

Chapter 1254

Esther immediately sensed something fishy. "You know, you sound suspicious."

The man spread his hands, as if he had no choice. "I get it. It sounds bad, I admit."

"I think it's best we don't get to know each other." Esther got up, thinking it was time to leave. She wasn't sure what he might do if she stayed any longer.

"Why not? Don't you want to know about James?"

His voice was gentle, yet it hit Esther hard. She froze in place. "Who are you talking about?"

"James."All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

Hearing his name made Esther's heart skip a beat. She looked up, tears forming in her eyes. "How do you know him? And how did you know about us?"

The man was shocked. At first, he had thought she was easy to be fooled. He had underestimated her. Esther studied him closely, sure that she didn't recognize him. Then she wondered, how did he know about her and James?

"Yes, I do know about him. Don't worry, I'll explain everything. The man smiled. 'Try to guess how I know you two."

Esther hated guessing games and felt even more annoyed. "If you don't want to tell me, fine. I don't really want to know." With that, she was even more determined to leave.

But as she started to walk away, he casually said, "Aren't you worried about him? It looks like he's going to die

soon.'

Esther abruptly turned around. "What do you know? Tell me."

The man looked around and shook his head. "This is no place to talk about that."

Taking a deep breath, Esther approached him, bag in hand. "Then where? I'll come with you."

The man smiled smugly. "I knew you wouldn't say no. Let's go."

When Finnegan wasn't paying attention, Esther left and followed the man. She had suggested a cafe, but he wanted somewhere more private, so they headed to his secluded house.

"Why did it have to be at your place?" Confused, Esther suspected he was up to something else.

But he simply shrugged. 'I prefer privacy."

Feeling stuck since she needed the information, Esther reluctantly agreed to go to his house.

His house was hidden deep in the mountains, and the bumpy road nearly made Esther sick with motion sickness.

"I didn't expect you'd get car sick." He felt sorry to see her struggling and looking so miserable. Esther fought the nausea, clinging to the car door handle for some relief.
