Lorrie's words haunted Pearl for three days.

During a meeting, Pearl's phone rang. It was Esther, so she excused herself to answer, knowing Esther wouldn't call without a good reason.

After picking up, she heard Esther crying, "Pearl, I feel like there's no point to life."

Pearl had never heard her so sad. "What happened? Why are you talking like this?"

"James is going to get married to someone else," Esther whispered. "He said I should just marry whoever I want and forget about him."

Pearl was shocked. Why would James say that? She didn't want to believe it, but Esther was clearly distressed and needed help.

"Do you know who he's engaged to?" Pearl asked.

Esther sobbed as she answered, "Yes, his first love."

Pearl turned pale. She had missed something important when she checked on James's past. This was a big oversight.

She had to confront James about this.

With Esther being overseas and not in a good mental state, Pearl knew she had to handle this without her. After comforting Esther, she ended the call.

Pearl had assumed Esther traveled abroad to get away from job stress, but it turned out it was because of James and his engagement news. This meant James had known his fiancee for quite some time.

Rushing to confront James, Pearl nearly drove too fast, catching the attention of other drivers who flashed their lights as a warning. Despite this, her driving skills got her to James's office in under ten minutes.
