Win My Forsaken Ex-wife Back (Charlotte and Arthur)

Wife Back 42

Chapter 42 I Have to Do Something

Just then, Barrett's phone rang. He grabbed it quickly, his hand trembling slightly. Before leaving, he'd sent a message to Arthur, saying he'd uncovered a huge secret.

Barrett's eyes flickered as he answered the call. "Hey, Arthur."

"What's up?" Arthur's voice was low and

cold, just like always.

Barrett laughed lightly. "Nothing, just wondering where you are. How about grabbing a drink?"

Arthur's tone grew sharper. "Sarah was in a car accident. I'm at the hospital."

Barrett immediately stiffened. "How bad is she? Is she okay?"noveldrama

Arthur's voice remained even but with a touch of exhaustion. "She fractured her leg. If you're free, you can come by."

They'd been friends for years, so this wasn't out of the ordinary.

"Alright, I'm on my way." Barrett hung up quickly, keeping the secret to himself.

But he couldn't help but wonder why Charlotte didn't tell Arthur she was Ms. Aroma.

Then he remembered Arthur's feelings for Sarah and sighed. Barrett thought, "It is not my problem anyway."

In the private room, Charlotte was tipsy, her cheeks flushed, and her throat sore from talking, but no more tears fell.

She had spilled everything: five years of frustration, numbness, and the heartache of loving someone who never saw her.

Evie, listening in, was practically in tears herself. She couldn't believe Arthur treated Charlotte like a stand-in for Sarah,

and she almost wanted to confront him herself.

Charlotte stopped her with a hand. "Don't... Calm down. Wait until I divorce him, then you can do whatever you want."

Evie flicked Charlotte lightly on the forehead. "What's wrong with you? I take

him out now, and then you inherit all his

money."

Charlotte, half-drunk, nodded slowly. "Hmm, that's true."

Her head fell onto the pillow, and she was asleep in no time.

Evie and Diana helped her to the bed in the inner room, tucking her in carefully.

Evie made it clear that no one was allowed to disturb her.

"I can't just let this go," Evie said, her fists clenched. "She's been through so much. I have to do something."

Diana raised an eyebrow. "You're really going to go up against Arthur? Are you insane?"

Evie cracked a small, mischievous smile. “Just a little sabotage. I need to make him regret it. Otherwise, I'll explode from all this frustration."

Diana frowned. "Be careful. Arthur is dangerous."

Evie nodded, grinning. "Don't worry. I'll keep it subtle."

The next few days, Charlotte stayed at home, consumed by perfecting her perfume.

She'd stopped pressuring Arthur about the divorce, deciding she needed some space to clear her head. If she faced him too soon, she might lose control.

And in the end, it would only make things worse for her.

Then, one day, her phone rang. It was

Arthur. She hesitated before answering.

Charlotte thought, "Could this be it? Is he finally ready to talk about the divorce?"

"Hello?" Charlotte said.

Arthur's voice was cool, almost indifferent. "Evie is your friend, right?"

Charlotte stood up, alarmed. "What's going on? Don't you dare do anything to

her!"

She was completely caught off guard and thought, "Why is he asking about Evie?"

Arthur's tone didn't change. "Come to Night Club."

And just like that, the line went dead. He wanted to talk face-to-face.

Charlotte hurried to Night Club, her heart in turmoil. When she entered the private room, she saw Arthur lounging on the sofa, looking unfazed. Meanwhile, Evie was being held by two bodyguards, her face twisted with anger as she shot him a furious glare.
