Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 320

Chapter 311 Are You Sure?

“Honey, what would you like to do to the woman who tried to seduce your husband?” Cedric smiled and asked in a gentle tone.

Maia was taken aback at his question and that he had called her ‘honey‘ again.

Baz and Hope, who were standing next to them, glanced at each other awkwardly. At first, Hope was curious at how Cedric would act in front of her sister.

Now that she had seen it, Hope could not believe that Cedric was capable of being this gentle. Hope felt like he would even give Maia the world if she had asked for it. This made Hope

– slightly envious of Maia, but she was also excited to see how Maia would react to him.

“She drugged you, so you should decide what to do. Why would HL’s CEO and the don of the business world ask me for my opinion?”

“Because as powerful as I am, I’m still a henpecked husband!” Cedric teased.

Others would try to hide the fact that they were a henpecked husband, yet Cedric was proud of it. Maia was surprised by his statement. When had she even tried to control him?

All of a sudden, something on the bar counter caught her eyes.

Maia was quite shocked to see some hot peppers there. Even if they had wanted something spicy, they should have been in the kitchen instead. Maia could only think of one explanation.

“Baz.”

“Yes, Ms. Maia?” Baz lowered his head, trying not to make eye contact with her.

“Why are you so nervous? I only wanted to ask, why are these hot peppers here?”

“Mr. Cedric asked me to get them,” Baz replied.

Cedric glared at Baz as he heard Baz’s answer. Baz gasped in fear, he was only speaking the

truth!

Maia nodded and walked toward the bar counter. She rested her arms on the counter and

smiled at him. “So, which of these peppers would you like to try first?”

To Cedric, Maia looked too seductive. He smiled back at her and pinched her chin lightly between his fingers. “Which would you like me to try?”

His gaze was penetrating. Maia could feel that the tone he had used to talk to her was different. She turned away from him and pointed at a jalapeno. “How about this?”

“Are you sure? Looks like my efforts last night weren’t good enough,” he whispered into her

ear.

Main’s face could not help but turned bright red as she recalled what had happened last night. “ 1–I’m hungry. I want some breakfast now. You should take care of your problem!” After she finished, she immediately turned around, grabbed Hope and left.

“Maia, you and Mr. Cedric-“Hope was surprised by Maia’s gesture as she had not even figured out how to address Cedric

Mala ignored Hope’s protest and dragged her out of the presidential suit. When she closed the door behind them, Cedric laughed. Baz could finally sigh in relief as he noticed his boss was in a good mood.

Seconds later, Baz’s expression changed as he asked Cedric what to do with Fiona.

“Don’t worry about her yet.” Cedric did not want Fiona to get away that easily. Making her wait would increase her fear. He wanted her to suffer before handing Fiona her final sentence.

Baz nodded

“What about the thing I instructed you to do?” Cedric questioned.

When I got back to Prismara, I immediately instructed our men to help with Starlight Entertainment’s effort of purchasing Mykonos Studios. I’ve also went to see Ms. Maia’s personal assistant, Buck

“He was quite professional and diligent with his work. Even though he did not share much of the details, he told me that the process went smoothly. From the way he was talking to me, I’m quite certain that Ms. Maia would be able to purchase Mykonos Studios without much

trouble.

“After that, I went to the orphanage that took in Ms. Zera. The person–in–charge said that she was abandoned at their doorstep, wrapped in a blanket. The blanket was made from materials only produced on Maya Cove.

“Maya Cove wasn’t even developed 20 years ago, so this could only be from the locals who had used it to weave their own clothing.”

Baz took out an old photograph. “This was given to me by the orphanage. It was a photo that they took to make sure that if Ms. Zera’s birth parents were to come back for her, they would

be able to identify her.

This is proof that Ms. Zera was born on this island. Her birth date coincides with the period when Ms. Rita came here for a trip. Ms. Rita left the island a few days later.”

Cedric’s facial expression changed when he heard Baz’s report. “Looks like Tess was telling

the truth.”

Zera was really Rita’s daughter, with an unknown father! Still, this meant that Cedric and Zera were step–siblings. Why had Rita been so determined to make Zera marry him? Did

story.

Moments later, Cedric stood up and walk toward the door. Baz followed him and asked, “Mr. Cedric, where are you going?”

“To have breakfast.”

On the way to the restaurant, Hope looked at Maia’s blushing face and laughed, “Maia, why is your face still so red?”

“Do you still want to do that photoshoot?”

“Of course. You’re the best! I can tell just from the way Mr. Cedric looks at you!” Hope hugged her sister’s arm affectionately.

Instead of replying to Hope’s statement, Maia decided to change the subject, “Did you Vicky that we’re here?”

Chapter 312 A Clean Headlock!

“I called her. She told me she’s already there and waiting for us.”

Mala nodded as they got into the elevator to go to the restaurant.

At the restaurant, Victoria was already busy piling her plate with different kinds of delicious food

“Look, who’s this? I didn’t expect you to be here as well.”

Victoria was slightly surprised by the annoying, high–pitched voice. She already knew who it was without turning around.

It was her stepbrother’s wife, her sister–in–law. She was a well–known actress in the industry. Most netizens would describe her as someone who was a professional at acting as a bossy

woman on screen.

Victoria had already known that Yuna would be here when she saw the list of actresses appearing on The Horizon Awards. However, Victoria had not expected to bump into her at such a huge resort.

Moreover, after the award show ended late yesterday, most of the actresses would choose to sleep in.

“Why can’t I just have breakfast in peace.” Victoria was not a fan of Yuna. Yuna was also one of the main reasons she decided to leave the Smith family. Victoria lost her appetite just from looking at her.

“Victoria, how could you talk to me like this? I’m your sister–in–law. Even though you don’t like me, you should at least give me some respect. Do you know how much we’ve missed you?

“By the

way, the Vanderbilt family has promised that they’ll make sure their son changes. He really wants to marry you.”

Victoria’s stomach churned as she eyed Yuna’s fake civility. Victoria’s grip on her plate tightened, and she consciously had to stop herself from launching it at Yuna.

“Old habits die hard. He’ll never change his playboy ways. You’re saying that the family misses me? Please. You just want me to get married into the Vanderbeilt family so that the Smith family can benefit from it. Leave me alone, you know very well what I’m like. Someone like you is no match for me!” Victoria warned her as she walked away with her food.

Yuna looked at Victoria’s back with hatred. She turned around and noticed that no one was paying them any attention, so Yuna lifted a heel and kicked Victoria in the back of her knee.

Victoria tripped and fell forward with a loud crash as the plate in her hand fell. The commotion attracted the attention of all the diners in the quiet restaurant.

Victoria drew in a sharp breath as she felt a stabbing pain in her knee. She tried to stand on her own, but the throbbing pain stopped her.

“Victoria, are you okay?” Yuna pretended to be worried as she approached her.

Victoria gritted her teeth as she hissed at Yuna. “People are watching. As the kind superstar, shouldn’t you be helping me up? If they took a photo of this and uploaded it, you might even be on the hot search list.”

Most of the diners present were either artists or crew members. None of them wanted to get in trouble as they were well aware that Yuna was part of the Smith family. The restaurant’s staff members were equally afraid to help out.

Victoria was in so much pain that she had not even recovered after a few minutes. However, she was well aware that no one would help her, and that she could only rely on herself.

She endured the pain and commented, “Are you sure you’re going to just stand there? If they uploaded your photo on the internet, there would probably be rumors about this incident. Do you really want netizens to start speculating?”

Yuna was smug as Victoria was pleading with her for help. However, she also knew that Victoria was right, so she bent over and tried to help Victoria up.

“Lower, I can’t lift my hand that high.”

“How troublesome!” Yuna stooped lower.

Just then, Victoria put Yuna in a headlock and threw her onto the ground. Next, she pushed Yuna’s head into the plate of food that she had dropped.

“How dare you kick me? You think I would just let you go? Years of Brazilian Jiu–jitsu training would have gone to waste if I didn’t use it on you!” Victoria gritted her teeth and endured the pain as she used all of her strength to throw Yuna.

Yuna struggled as she tried to get up. She was in a worse state compared to Victoria. The diners in the restaurant were shocked by the scene. Who would have thought that the fallen Victoria would be capable of throwing Yuna to the ground?

Yuna’s manager and assistant ran toward her when they saw what had happened. They quickly helped her and tried to clean her up.

Yuna’s pretty makeup was nowhere to be seen as her face was now covered in all kinds of sauces and oil. It was a disgusting sight.

Yuna’s assistant immédiately handed her a pack of tissues as she assisted her in wiping the sauces from her face.

At that moment, Hope and Mala entered the restaurant and saw this.

“Isn’t that Vicky?” Hope looked at Victoria lying on the ground. She instantly went to help but was stopped by Mala.

Mala shook her head at Hope as she had seen another person moving toward Victoria.

“Maia, what’s going on? Why is Vicky on the ground? Who’s that woman standing next to her? She looks familiar.” Hope asked in confusion.

“That’s Yuna Heiden, Vicky’s sister–in–law.”

“Right! It’s her. Vicky doesn’t have a good relationship with her brothers, so I’m sure that Yuna isn’t a good person either. However, Vicky is skilled at causing a fight, how is it possible that she had ended up on the ground?” Hope wondered aloud.

Chapter 313 Breakfast with My Honey

“I’m not sure what happened, but I’m certain that Yuna did not manage to take advantage of Vicky.” Maia shook her head too, but from the looks of it, they had probably caused a huge

commotion.

Just as Maia finished, she heard footsteps coming from behind her. The next thing she knew, she was already in his warm embrace.

Before she could react, Cedric handed her a cell phone and told her to look at it.

“Why are you here too?” Maia lifted her head and looked at him.

“I’m here to have breakfast with my honey.”

Maia lowered her head as her cheeks flushed red. She quickly took the phone from his hands

and opened the video footage of the restaurant.

Maia watched as Yuna provoked Victoria and kicked Victoria in the back of her knee when Victoria had turned to leave. Maia also watched how Victoria threw Yuna to the ground when Yuna suddenly bent over to help.

“Yuna is so horrible! How could she kick Vicky with her deadly heels? Vicky must be in so much pain!” Hope commented angrily as she watched the video footage.

Maia just remained silent as she handed the phone back to Cedric.

“Maia, we need to help Vicky get back at Yuna!”

“She already did it herself. It’s best that we don’t get involved.”

“But how could we just watch as Vicky gets bullied?” Hope demanded as she was about to rush

toward Victoria.

“Aiken already approached her to help. With him there, Yuna wouldn’t dare try anything more. Don’t get involved!” Maia quickly restrained her.

“Why not?”

“You need to think about your position. Have you forgotten how complicated this industry is? Besides, Yuna is a famous actress, and she also has the Smith family behind her.

“If you approach them recklessly, you wouldn’t be able to be much of a help and might even be taken advantage of!” Being careless could sometimes cause more damage.

After listening to her sister’s advice, Hope calmed down and asked, “Then, what can we do to help?”

“Just wait.”

“Watt?” Hope was confused.

Mala did not elaborate any further as she smiled at Hope in reply. Cedric just stood beside Maia quietly as he watched her, anticipating her next movement.

Maia’s glance went back to the lot inside the restaurant.

Aiken approached Victoria and helped her up. “Are you okay?”

When Victoria noticed that it was Aiken, she wanted to reject his help. However, she also did not want to allow Yuna to continue to laugh at her, so decided to accept it.

“Thank you,” Victoria replied. With Aiken’s help, Victoria stood up slowly. As her left knee was in excruciating pain, she could only stand by leaning against Aiken.

“Mr. Cantrell, what is the meaning of this?” Yuna looked at his actions and questioned unhappily.

“Nothing. I was merely just trying to help a pretty girl up. I couldn’t just leave her, could I?” Aiken shook his head and commented.

“Did you not see what she did to me?” Yuna snapped angrily, even though she was the one who had caused Victoria’s fall.

Aiken just gave her his usual charming smile. He did not expose the fact that he had seen what had happened. Instead he just said, “I’m going to be involved in your squabble, but I can’t just ignore the fact that someone has fallen and not help them. It’s just human nature.

“Moreover, I’m sure you know that this is Maya Cove and owned by HL Corporations. If something huge were to happen, we wouldn’t be able to explain ourselves to Mr. Cedric, no? Even though I don’t know you well, we’ve acted in a few dramas together. So, how about you let this go for my sake?”

Aiken was unlike his usual easy–going self. When it comes to a situation like this, he would always put on a serious front. Victoria was also slightly surprised by how serious he was.

Victoria’s manager also pulled her blouse slightly to ask her to stop. Since Aiken had given her a chance to rest her case, she took it.

“Since you’re asking me nicely. I’ll stop pressing this issue. However, I don’t understand what you’re thinking. You should pick someone better than some girl who chose to leave the Smith family.”

Aiken smiled. “I’m surprised that you care so much about my life and decisions.”

Yuna smiled and added, “I’m just worried about Vicky. Although she has left the family, she’s still part of the Smiths.”

“Enough of your nonsense, Yuna! If you don’t leave me alone, I’ll make sure to drown you in

Aiken restrained Victoria and said, “You should give it a rest. Your leg still hurts, right?”

Victoria just glared at him in annoyance.

“I look forward to working with you.” Yuna said before she left.

“Of course.” Aiken nodded earnestly. Aiken had good diplomacy and people skills, which was how he was able to survive in the industry for such a long time.

After Yuna had left, Victoria glared at Aiken. “I see that you’re quite fond of her!”

She pushed Aiken away from her as she stumbled. Aiken immediately extended his hand to grab her to prevent her from falling over.

“Give it a rest, Vicky. If it weren’t for me, you would’ve been in more trouble! How could you mock me after I’ve helped you? Is this how the Smith family has taught you?”

Chapter 314, She Won’t Be Rash

Victoria was already feeling angry and embarrassed. After hearing what Alken said, she

exploded. She shoved Alken away from her as she steadied herself with the help of the table

next to her.

“111 was like any of the other Smiths, I wouldn’t have left that family in the first place.” She turned around and walked away with difficulty.

Aiken looked at her retreating back as his head was filled with mixed emotions. At that

moment, Victoria’s frail frame had looked powerful to him. He immediately ran up to her and scooped her into his arms.

“You should stop trying to act tough. I’m sorry if I’ve offended you. Since I’m already involve in this incident, I might as well just send you to the hospital. You have a set of beautiful legs, it would be a shame if you ended up limping!”

“How could you say something so mean? Put me down! Stopped trying to take advantage of mein

As Aiken and Victoria continued to bicker, Yuna left the restaurant as if nothing had happened. The minute she walked out of the place, she saw Maia. As they studied each other, Yuna’s aura was obviously weaker than Maia’s.

Cedric quietly retreated to a conner as he continued to observe them. He wanted to see what

Maia would do next.

“Mr. Cedric, should I help out Ms. Maia? Yuna Heiden is part of the Smith family, and they’re far more powerful compared to Ms. Maia. Even though she did not manage to fully ridicule Ms. Victoria, Ms. Victoria’s injuries were more severe than hers.” Baz asked and explained in

concern.

“Victoria was too reckless. I believe that Maia wouldn’t be rash.”

Baz nodded, “You’re right, but are you sure Ms. Maia will be fine on her own?”

“If she can’t even handle Yuna, then she isn’t Maia Burgess.”

Baz decided not to push the issue as he saw his boss’s confident outlook. He nodded and went back to standing by Cedric and shifted his focus on what was going on in front of the

restaurant.

“Ms. Mala, what a coincidence.” Yuna was a high–profile person. She had managed to marry into the Smith family. It was obvious that she was not just a simple–minded actress.

Furthermore, she had even picked on Victoria, who was also part of the Smith family even if she had chosen to leave. It was evident that Yuna had quite a high status within the family.

“That was quite a show you pur

phoenix.” Maia’s words were sarcastic while she continued to smile brightly at Yuna,

Yuna was furious inside. Yet, she could not show it as she knew Maia commanded a high position in this industry. Moreover, she was also wary about Cedric’s support of Maia, She would not dare to treat her the same way she did Victoria.

However, Yuna was still a fearful woman. “Of course. The phoenix is powerful, and she has always been on top. Unlike some, who thought they had become a phoenix, yet ended up being banished. Who do you think is more pathetic?”

The person she was referring to was obviously Maia, Maia just smiled without allowing Yuna’s words to get to her, “The public always forgets that the phoenix will always be a phoenix, even if she was

banished. She would always be better than others.”

Even if the public were laughing at her divorce with Cedric, they had not forgotten that she was Rosa’s daughter and the owner of Starlight Entertainment. Just this fact was already sufficient to make Maia better than those laughing at her misfortune.

Before giving Yuna the chance to react, Maia walked closer to Yuna and said in her ear, “Vicky took her revenge on you today. If you ever try to pull another stunt like that, I’m sure Cedric wouldn’t let you off so easily.”

Yuna’s face fell. “What do you mean? How is Cedric Larkin involved?”

Maia continued as she stared at Yuna’s stunned face. “Didn’t the Smiths tell you? How would you explain Vicky being able to come back to Prismara to set up her business here?

“Her business is also growing. Many artists and socialites have approached her to make their evening gowns. You think the Smiths didn’t know about this? Why do you think they just left her to her own devices?”

“Wasn’t this because she had left the family?”

Maia smiled and asked, “Remind me again how you got to where you are?”

In other words, Maia was doubting Yuna’s intelligence. How did she manage to get married into the Smith family and secure her position in the industry?

“What are you trying to tell me?”

“Victoria Smith is the family’s only daughter. They wouldn’t let her leave the family when they could’ve used her as a bride in an arranged marriage to secure their power.

“However, Vicky was able to leave the Smith family unharmed and even started her own business in the same city. That’s because there was another power at play. Someone more powerful than the Smiths.”

Before continuing, Maia lifted her hand and placed it on one of Yuna’s shoulders. “That

*15 BONUS

like that’s not at all true. Didn’t your husband tell you about this? It seems like you’re not really a part of the family after all.”

Chapter 315 I’ll Wait For You

Maia finished calmly as she looked at Yuna with sympathy, Maia’s intention of mentioning this was to deliberately manipulate Yuna into thinking that the Smiths did not trust her. This was her way of getting back at Yuna for what she had done to Victoria.

Yuna was furious after what she heard. She had never thought that Cedric was the support behind Victoria and the reason behind the Smiths leaving Victoria alone. She had been s part of the family for some time now, yet she knew nothing about this!

Yuna stood there clenching and unclenching her fists as she boiled over with rage.

– When Maia noticed her reaction, she knew that she had achieved her purpose. There was only

one last thing left for her to do. Maia grabbed Yuna’s arm and beckoned Yuna to follow her.

When they got to the end of the corridor, Maia stopped in her tracks. “Turn around and take a look”

Yuna turned and immediately met Cedric’s eyes. Yuna’s face paled as she was stunned to see him there. She instantly shifted her gaze elsewhere to avoid staring at him.

Maia found it funny as Yuna was reacting like a mouse that had just seen a cat. “Both our companies have worked together a few times, and seeing that our relationship is not too bad, I’ll give you a heads up.

“Don’t think that you’ve established yourself into upper–class society just because you married into it. It’s far more complicated than you think, especially when you’re not sure about everyone’s histories. Vicky is a very good example of someone you shouldn’t touch.”

Maia turned and walked away, leaving Yuna rooted to the spot in fear.

When Maia had left, Cedric knew that it was his turn to take over. He instructed Baz to go threaten her as Cedric turned and left after Maia.

The moment he got into the elevator, he texted Maia that he was waiting for her on the 12th

floor.

Maia took out her phone and read the message. Instead of ignoring it like she used to, she replied with a simple “Okay.”

Seconds later, Maia received a kiss emoji from Cedric. She was surprised for a while as she wondered if Cedric was really the one sending her messages.

“Maia, what are you looking at?” Hope asked as she noticed her sister standing still.

“Nothing, I just got a message. Where’s Vicky?”

“I called her seconds ago, she said that Aiken sent her to the hospital.”

“Let’s go

check on her.”

“Sure! By the way, you’re amazing! I can’t believe how scared Yuna looked after she had talked to you. If Vicky saw this, she would be so happy that she could finish three rounds of pizzas!” Hope hugged her sister’s arm affectionately as she commented in admiration.

“After seeing you in action, I couldn’t help but agree with you. If I had approached them just now, I wouldn’t be able to help Vicky at all. She would only end up being bullied by Yuna and her manager!

“I need to make sure to warn her not to do something like this when we see her. Her injury was so bad that she couldn’t even stand up. Vicky needs to be more aware of her own safety the next time!” Hope added.

“She was quite reckless today. If Vicky hadn’t chosen to attack Yuna, we would’ve been able to create an issue out of this and make sure her reputation in this industry would be tarnished.

“Unfortunately, this had just turned into two of them getting into a fight. It’s difficult to clearly tell who’s right or wrong. I’m not saying that it was wrong for Vicky to want revenge, but it would’ve been better if she could cripple her enemy once and for all.”

Maia was speaking from experience. When she had lost her child, she had lunged toward Rita, trying to make her pay for her sins with her life. Look how that had turned out.

It was meaningless to be reckless. From that day on, she would always make sure that she had a 80- 90% chance of winning before acting on her plans.

Hope nodded earnestly as she listened attentively to Maia’s words.

As they got to the hospital, they found out that Victoria had to be hospitalized for at least 2 days, even though her injuries were not too serious. The doctor wanted to make sure that there were no other complications.

When they got to Victoria’s room, they could hear two loud voices bickering inside.

“Vicky, how could you be so ungrateful? I carried you all the way here, paid for your medical fees and carried you back to your room after the doctor inspected your injuries. Do you have any idea how heavy you are?”

“I’m ungrateful? Did I even ask you to carry me here and pay for my medical fees? You were the one who volunteered. I didn’t ask anything of you! Besides, I’m not even 50kg. How am I heavy for a grown man like you?”

Aiken was rendered speechless by Victoria’s smart comeback. “You really are ungrateful! How are you even friends with my Maia?”

“Your Maia? Maia belongs to Cedric. I suggest that you stop daydreaming!”

“You’re so unreasonable!” Aiken yelled in frustration.

“How am I unreasonable? I’ve had enough of your nagging I don’t need an outsider telling me what I should do about the relationship with my family! You think you’re being helpful, but you’re not!

“You know nothing about my family! You’re just like everyone else who thinks that I’m just an ungrateful kid! If I was any weaker than I am now, I would’ve been a pawn in an arranged marriage for the Smith family to continue their legacy!”

Chapter 316 Missing You

Victoria choked up, saying, “You guys don’t know the whole story. Everyone thinks it’s my fault, but deep down, I wanted to feel like I belonged. But that family didn’t accept me!”

Seeing her emotional state, Aiken realized his lectures were wrong. It wasn’t her choice to leave the Smith family, it was them who forced her out. Aiken felt regret.

Meanwhile, Maia and Hope stood at the doorway, overhearing the conversation. Hope whispered, “Sis, Aiken likes you…”

Maia shook her head. “He doesn’t like me, it’s just admiration.”

After those words, Maia knocked on the door and, along with Hope, entered the room.

“Maia, Hope,” Victoria wiped away her tears upon seeing them, smiling. “What brings you here?”

Hope quickly approached her. “Vicky, I have good news for you.”

“What good news?”

“My sister has already dealt with Yuna for you. That woman got scared half to death and won’t dare to trouble you again,” Hope said with a cheerful smile.

Victoria then turned to Maia. “Thank you, Maia.”

“How are you feeling now? Is your leg okay?” Maia asked, looking at Victoria’s leg.

“I just need a few days of rest, and it’ll be fine. I just didn’t expect to run into Yuna. Even after leaving the Smith family, she still chases after me,” Victoria sighed. “Back home, she was known for causing trouble. My big brother is powerful, but he wouldn’t do anything unsightly.

“Everything changed after Yuna entered the picture. She acted like a caring sister–in–law, but she targeted me at every turn. I’m not one to back down, so I fought back. Her embarrassed state back

then was quite amusing.”

“Vicky, you were impulsive today. You were alone and injured. Yuna might have been dirtied and messed up, but thankfully, Aiken rushed in to save you. Could you imagine if Aiken didn’t act and Yuna teamed up with her people to bully you?” Hope said it earnestly, also speaking up for Aiken.

Victoria remained silent with her head down. Maia chuckled and continued Hope’s statement, Aiken rushed in so quickly. Hope and I were at the restaurant’s entrance, we didn’t even have time to witness the heroic act!”

IT

“Exactly. My sister and I were dumbfounded. We thought you two had planned to have breakfast together at the restaurant,” Hope said, smiling at Maia and winking.

The sisters continued their banter, bringing a light–hearted tone to the previously tense atmosphere.

“I scolded you without knowing the full story. It was all my fault. Please forgive me, tigress. Also, I did save you, right?” Aiken attempted to diffuse the situation.

“I’ve always been forgiving, but if you dare call me a tigress again, I’ll make you taste my fist! “Victoria threatened, raising her fist playfully.

Aiken quickly shielded himself with his hands and jokingly cried, “Mercy, heroic lady!”

“From now on, you’ll call me that.”

A puzzled expression appeared on Aiken’s face. “You want me to call you ‘heroic lady‘?”

“Why not?”

“Then ‘heart stealer‘ sounds better.”

“Aiken, are you asking for a beating?”

The two of them began bantering back and forth. Maia and Hope shared a smile.

Suddenly, Maia’s phone vibrated again. It was a message from Cedric.

“Where are you, Maia?!”

Was he urging her to get to the twelfth floor quickly? Maia replied, “Mind your own business!”

As soon as she sent the message, her phone rang. Maia recognized the number all too well. Was this guy switching from texts to a call now? Maia turned and walked to the corridor

before answering.

“Maia.”

Before she could say anything, that deep and sexy voice echoed from the other end of the phone. Indeed, calls and texts were incomparable. Even the simple words “Maia” sounded more moving when spoken with such affection.

“I’ve been waiting for you.”

His voice had a mesmerizing power. Maia, who was already a bit confused, became even more perplexed.

“Cedric, can you speak properly?”

“Honey, I miss you.”

Didn’t that meet the criteria for “speaking properly“? However, his words left Maia somewhat baffled.

When she finally processed it, she responded, “Then keep missing me. Keep waiting.”

“I’m missing you, so I can’t wait any longer.”

Suddenly, a figure appeared before her, making the words from the phone’s speaker more tangible. She looked up, and their eyes met.

“Cedric? How did you get here?”

“Can’t I come?” He looked at her calmly, smiling with a raised eyebrow.

He gently lifted her chin with his hand, using his fingertips to explore.

“I missed my honey and got too impatient waiting, so I came myself.”

Just then, the door opened, and Hope’s voice said, “Sis, is your call done? Let Vicky rest for a while. We’ll head back to the resort…”

Before Hope could finish her sentence, she saw the scene in front of her and instantly froze on the spot. She didn’t know what to do next.

Continuing to speak seemed inappropriate, leaving seemed inappropriate. So, she could only

stand there.

Maia quickly waved away Cedric’s hand and whispered, “Can you be serious?”

He looked at her slightly embarrassed appearance, and the smile on his lips deepened. “Maia, can you stop being so shy?”

She quickly glared at him.

Chapter 317 You’re Right, My Love

But he laughed and relented. “You’re right.‘

Liking someone doesn’t need a reason. Similarly, surrendering for the sake of one’s beloved also lacks a logical explanation.

“Hope, what happened?” Aiken’s voice came from inside, and he walked over to Hope.

When he saw Cedric, Aiken’s lips involuntarily twitched.

“Let’s go back to the resort.”

After the hospital door closed, the group walked towards the elevator, and the atmosphere became extremely tense.

It would take at least twenty minutes to walk from Maya Cove Hospital to the resort. Aiken would step in whenever Cedric wanted to speak to Maia.

If Aiken tried to talk to Maia, Cedric would pull her to his side and then stare at him with his terrifying gaze.

Hope pulled Aiken away and muttered softly, “Can you save some energy? It’s so hot today, can’t you walk properly?”

“Hope, aren’t you helping me?” Aiken lowered his voice. “After all, we’ve cooperated on more than one drama. I like your sister. Can’t you see it?”

“I can see it and my sister can see it too. But you mistake admiration for love, thinking you like my sister.”

Hope’s words made himpause. “Aiken, just let go. Can’t you see that Cedric likes my sister? And my sister likes him too. It’s useless for you to interfere between them.Let go and find your own happiness.”

“Hope, why do you sound so experienced?”

“If you make them unhappy, what’s the point of liking them? If you like someone who doesn’t like you back, you shouldn’t cling to them. Let them be happy and free, right? And do you really like my sister? Think about it. Is it more admiration or more love?”

Aiken fell into silence, running his hand through his messy hair. He looked at Cedric and Maia walking side by side, feeling he didn’t deserve to be with them.

Aiken suddenly became quiet, catching Maia’s attention. Maia knew she should talk to him.

Aiken wasn’t a stubborn person who would cling to trivial matters. If she explained it clearly,

he would understand.

“Cedric.” Maia reached out and tugged at his sleeve, calling out to him.

“Hmm?”

Maia said, “I need to talk to Aiken about something.”

“No.”

“Why?”

“He’s my rival.” This reason was straightforward and crude.

With a delicate frown, Maia said, “Then you must be prepared. Aiken’s contract is about to expire, and he has good commercial value. So Starlight Entertainment will sign him, and he’ll become my artist. Cedric, you should be ready for Aiken’s jealousy.”

“He can’t contain it.”

Maia was speechless.

“Go ahead and talk to him. Make things clear.” Cedric tucked her slightly messy hair behind

her ear.

“How do you know what I wanted to talk to him?”

“You’re here with me, of course, I know.” Cedric’s hand moved down, gently pointing at her chest with his finger.

Maia’s cheeks blushed slightly, and she turned to walk towards the silent Aiken.

“Aiken, come with me.”

When Aiken heard Maia’s words, he paused. Then, seeing Maia walking toward the beach on one side, he followed. Hope was extremely surprised.

“Cedric, why didn’t you stop Maia and Aiken from talking alone?”

“I don’t dare to stop them.”

Hope was shocked. She made a sour expression again.

Just as Maia was about to say something, Aiken seized the opportunity to speak.

“Maia, I know what you want to discuss.” Aiken smiled at Maia and said, “Hope was right. Liking someone isn’t about possessing them, but seeing them happy.

“Maia, I was angry before. After all, it was Cedric who let go first. Later, I thought and thought… the more I thought, the angrier I got. Then Vicky told me about some things between you and Cedric.

“Cedric lost his memory, but it was for you even then. Later, he risked his life for you. I felt

understand.”

Aiken was no longer mischievous. Instead, he looked at Maia with a solemn and earnest expression.

“Humans are strange. They don’t always understand things right away. I will stop pursuing you, Maia. Firstly, I’m not Cedric’s opponent. I don’t have Cedric’s ability or his charisma.

“Secondly, considering your status, you are most compatible with Cedric. I’m here to apologize to you.”

“Apologize?” Maia was stunned. “Apologize for what?”

“I worked with Nigel before to make Cedric quit. But I couldn’t think of a good way. Later, Nigel proposed blaming Cedric for the two male stars who claimed you took advantage of them. You know about this, right, Maia? Anyway, it didn’t succeed. Hehe.”

Aiken smiled somewhat embarrassedly. He was, after all, an award–winning actor, always upright and honest. This matter was somewhat difficult for him to talk about.

“Nigel, he…” Maia lowered her gaze. “I hope he can let go.”

“Yeah, I hope Nigel can let go, just like I did!” Saying this, Aiken smiled playfully. “If Cedric doesn’t treat you well, Maia, you must tell me! I’ll help you teach him a lesson!”

“It’s not that you can’t compete, it’s that you’ve figured it out. But you figured it out so quickly… Is there any other reason?”

Chapter 318 I Believe Because of You

Aiken paused for a few seconds, then smiled awkwardly. He has acted in numerous works and is considered a star in the entertainment Industry, having won the Best Actor award at a young

age.

But who would have thought that such a seasoned actor would become shy?

“Although I’ve acted in many love stories, it is quite different in reality. I haven’t had much experience with love. Many people confessed to me in school, but you know my dad’s temperament. If I dated and it affected my studies, I would get a good scolding.

“Moreover, I was focused on my studies at that time. I started filming during university, and balancing my studies and career made it even more impossible to have a love life. Later, when my career was thriving, the company strictly prohibited me from dating, so…

“So, you’re experiencing your first love.”

Aiken smiled awkwardly again. “Maia, you’re right. My feelings for you are more like admiration. I admire you, so I like you the way fans like their idols. When you succeed, I’m happy for you. When you’re sad, I want to comfort you.

“But it seems different for Vicky. When I saw her fall today, I immediately thought of saving her. I couldn’t let her be bullied. I wanted to protect her. I was hoping she would return to the Smith family because I didn’t want her to have a falling out with her family. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

“But when I saw her shed tears, I felt highly uneasy. I don’t know what love is. I experienced various kinds of love in shows, but none is my own.‘

Because he didn’t understand love, he mistook admiration for it. Because he didn’t understand love, he angered Vicky time and again. Because he didn’t understand love, he now felt at a loss.

Maia looked at the anxious Aiken and smiled. “There will definitely be a kind of love that belongs to you. But… it depends on whether you can grasp it.”

“Maia, give me some advice. How do I handle this love?”

“You know Vicky’s temper well. The harm the Smith’s family caused her is her inner pain. Today, you opened her old wound, so in the future, you must work hard to make her forget about this scar.”

She used to have emotional scars, too, but she seemed to have forgotten about them.

When Aiken heard Maia’s words, he paused for a few seconds, then said, “Maia, are you suggesting I use my true feelings?”

When Aiken heard Maia’s words, he paused for a few seconds, then said, “Maia, are you suggesting I use my true feelings?”

“Love is based on sincere feelings.” Maia’s tone was light as she smiled at Aiken.

Then, she turned and walked toward Cedric, her long hair fluttering in the wind. He was still standing there waiting for her, not moving a step.

“Where’s Hope?” Maia looked around but didn’t see Hope.

“She already went back to the resort.”

Maia nodded. “Then let’s go back too.”

“Finished talking with my love rival?” Cedric frowned slightly, and mentioning the love rival naturally displeased him.

Seeing his cold expression, Maia burst into laughter. “He’s not your love rival anymore.”

“He gave up?”

Maia nodded, answering, “He has realized who he truly loves, so he gave up.”

“Consider him sensible.”

Otherwise, he might have to act. How can he let go of someone who covets his woman?

Maia couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Why are you so controlling? From your tone, if Aiken doesn’t give up, will you act against him?”

“When someone is trying to steal my wife, am I not allowed to take action?”

As if she would be easily stolen away! Suddenly, Maia’s clothes were gently tugged. “Miss, you’re so pretty! This is for you!”

Maia lowered her head and saw a girl about six or seven years old. She was wearing a simple and beautiful pink dress, holding a bamboo basket filled with various seashells. She was handing a shell to Maia.

“Thank you,” Maia said, smiling as she took the shell. “Did you pick this up? Is it really okay to give such a beautiful shell to me?”

“Yeah!” The little girl nodded happily. “We have a legend on Maya Cove. Mom said that if you hold the most beautiful shell on the beach and let the man you like carry you for a long walk, you can walk on the road to happiness!”

Maia smiled slightly when she heard the girl’s words. “I didn’t know that.”

The little girl nodded, saying, “Miss, I’ve been picking shells on the beach since this morning. This is the most beautiful one. I’m giving it to you now.”

Then, the little girl looked at Cedric standing next to Maia and made a somewhat curious expression.

“Miss, is this guy the one you like? Then you must make him carry you! This is the road to happiness! You’ll be happy forever!”

The little girl playfully stuck out her tongue, waved at them, and immediately ran to the other side of the beach, continuing to pick her beloved seashells.

Cedric stepped forward, already turning his back to Maia and bending down.

“What are you doing?” His sudden move startled Maia.

“Get on.”

Maia was stunned. “W–What?”

“I’m carrying you.” He remained resolute in his tone.

“But that’s just a legend… Do you really believe it?”

“I believe because of you.”

Having walked through snow and witnessed fireworks, a stretch of beach road wouldn’t make much difference. If it was a path to happiness with her, why not believe? After all, it wouldn’t harm anyone.

Maia pursed her lips and spread her arms to hug his neck. He smiled, lifting her. He carried her steadily on this beach, and she held the shell tightly in her hand…

The road to happiness? She lowered her eyes and smiled. This time, it would be a happy one.

In a high–ceilinged foyer, the floor was covered with golden–threaded carpets. A graceful and luxurious woman sat on the magnificent sofa.

Chapter 319 She’s Cedric’s Weakness

Her attire and the luxurious background exuded an overwhelming sense of extravagance.

“Madam, this is what you wanted.”

“Mm.” The woman extended her well–maintained hand, took the tablet handed over by her assistant, and browsed through the videos.

At first glance, the woman appeared relatively young, looking around 40. She had already passed 50 in reality, yet her skin and figure made her stand out among her peers and even those younger than her.

What was more terrifying was her aura, so cold yet with a hint of charm. She was Lauren Fox, the president of the Valentines Group and the ruler of the entire Fox family. Even in her fifties, she was an extraordinary figure.

Her lips curled slightly, and her expression was terrifyingly cold. The butler standing on the side didn’t speak, just bowing his head, waiting for Lauren to give orders.

“Cedric Larkin, truly an extraordinary existence…” She looked at the data on the tablet, her palm tightening as if she wanted to crush it, her eyes filled with hatred.

“Heh, what your dad did to me, I will magnify that a million times on you! I will never forget the pain I suffered. Even if the traitor is dead, how can his son be let off? James, you killed our child, and I want your son to pay with his life. Is that too much to ask?”

Lauren’s gaze was terrifying, filled with icy resentment. She glanced at the butler by her side and asked, “Is this all the information on/Cedric?”

The butler, who had followed Lauren for many years, nodded. “Yes, only this information is available. There’s very little about him.”

“Well, he’s a capable man. It’s a pity, but even if he’s formidable, he must pay for his father’s

actions!”

Afterward, Lauren coldly asked, “What about the information on the other person?”

“It’s on the next page.” The butler immediately responded, not daring to delay for a moment.

Then, her slender fingers slid across the tablet, looking at the information on the next page. She suddenly snorted.

“She looks exactly like that despicable woman. A face that can attract many people.” Lauren laughed. “James, you were so fond of Rosa before. I never thought your son would fall for Rosa’s daughter. I thought he married her just for the sake of the corporation now it seems he genuinely loves her…”

Lauren’s expression became sinister. She had despised them for nearly thirty years, grinding her teeth and lying awake all night.

“That despicable woman defeated me for more than twenty years. I thought Starlight Entertainment would fall, but her daughter managed to revive Starlight Entertainment in just

six months!

“I thought she’d be as useless as her uncle! She’s only in her twenties now, and she’s outstanding. I absolutely cannot allow her to continue. Otherwise she will become another

Rosa!

“Rosa’s daughter absolutely cannot stand at the peak of this business world like her. I won’t allow it!”

Lauren was furious, clenching her fist tightly and pounding the sofa’s armrest.

“Madam, who do you want to deal with first? Cedric may not be easy to handle. The current Larkin family is no longer the Larkin family of James’s era.”

Lauren elegantly tapped on Maia’s photo, a sinister smile on her face. “As long as she dies, it will be enough to make Cedric collapse. I can see that Cedric likes her and protects her. She is Cedric’s weakness. Dealing with her will be enough!”

Then, her fingers moved down to the section on Maia’s relationships. She frowned, her tone incredibly calm. “Nigel… Wasn’t he the young man who confronted our lawyer in court?”

She had heard of Nigel, the internationally renowned lawyer.

“Yes,” the butler nodded. “It’s been thoroughly investigated. Nigel is very fond of Maia and has helped her many times. He likes Maia.”

“Likes?” Lauren chuckled. “But Maia doesn’t like him. Out of love comes hatred, and hatred can drive one mad. This person can be of use to us.”

The butler nodded, understanding her intentions after following Lauren for many years.

“I understand. I will arrange for you to meet him. Where would you like the meeting to take place?” The butler asked respectfully.

Lauren’s expression changed slightly, and she chuckled coldly. “I have always been forthright. To express our sincerity, let’s meet at his law firm.”

The butler hesitated momentarily and then asked in concern, “Madam, isn’t this too risky? With your identity and status, you don’t need to go there…”

“To use him, we need enough leverage to gain his trust. My appearance is the greatest sincerity.” Lauren’s tone was cold yet filled with charm.

The butler nodded. He knew Lauren’s position was precarious without the family’s jade

She never made a mistake. That was why dissatisfied shareholders had stayed so long.

“It’s pitiful. Nigel has been by Maia’s side for so many years. Even though he has become a famous lawyer, he still can’t compare to Cedric. He likes Maia so much, yet he lacks a background that matches Cedric’s.

“But… as long as he has our family’s support, everything will be different!” Lauren laughed again, her words sounding sympathetic but carrying a mocking undertone.

Her smile suddenly faded.

“James, Rosa, we want your son and daughter to suffer!” Lauren was furious, slamming the – tablet she held onto the ground.

With a resounding “bang,” the tablet shattered into pieces.

On Maya Cove, the sunlight was bright. The sea breeze, though warm, was not too dry. Maia lay on Cedric’s back, smiling. “You’ve been carrying me for a long way…‘

Chapter $20 Yes, I still Love You

#sit really long?”

Male chucked, “We’re about to reach the resort. The performers and staff are probably wil around: If you carry me into the resort, it’ll become a joke, and quite a few people here ) (A on the way.”

“I’m carrying my Mala, so it’s only natural. Why would I be afraid of others seeing?” CAGNE spoke confidently, with no intention of putting her down.

Mala giggled and teased, “Cedric, I didn’t know you liked carrying, me so much”

“Yes, and I also like sleeping with you.”

While Cedric carried her back to the resort, about a hundred meters away, Mala spotted a charming figure pressed against a well–built man

“Isn’t that Tiffany, who was with Fiona before?” Mala looked at the woman, whose laughter was charming, and then at the man beside Tiffany, “Is that the president of Freedom Entertainment?”

“Yes,” Cedric affirmed.

“When did Tiffany get involved with Freedom Entertainment? She has always been with Fiona, Judging by their appearance, they seem to be leaving the resort.” Mala murmured.

Then, she suddenly realized, “She must’ve known that Fiona offended you. So, before you could send someone to find her, she quickly found a backer and left Maya Cove! We can’t let her escape!”

Mala got down from Cedric’s back.

“Be careful!”

Cedric watched Maia’s anxious movements. She almost jumped down from his back, and she could easily sprain her foot,

“I’m fine.” Maia shook her head, gazing at Fiona, “We can’t let her escape. We have to handle this matter at Maya Cove without any complications. I gave her the medicine, but we don’t know if there will be side effects. We must catch her and find out!”

Mala quickly walked toward the entrance of the resort. Cedric watched her back, lips curving up in a fond smile. Her anxious actions showed how much she cared about him.

How could Cedric be unhappy? He took out his phone and dialed the resort’s number.

A dozen bodyguards einerged from the resort. Maia walked to Tiffany and the president of Freedom Entertainment.

Freedom Entertainment was not considered a top–tier company but was still we were The president, Martin, was adept at navigating social circles. He had divorced his white tow or six years ago.

Unlike Victor, every woman seen with him was recognized as his girlfriend, and they were all willing participants.

Tiffany leaned against Martin, occasionally tracing her painted nails on Martin’s chest. However, the moment Maia appeared, she quickly buried her face in his chest, her face farmi pale.

“Mr. Martin, are you leaving already?”

“Maia, hello.” Martin nodded immediately, not daring to shake hands with her. He could only nod and smile. “There are still affairs waiting for me at the company. Maya Cove is indeed beautiful, and it’s tough to leave.”

“Is it the beauty of Maya Cove or the woman in Mr. Martin’s arms?” Mala teased, but it also felt as sharp as a knife.

Martin, a shrewd businessman, immediately asked, “Do Ms. Maia and Ms. Tiffany know each other?”

Tiffany became visibly nervous. She tightly clung to Martin, occasionally glancing at him.

Martin chuckled and said, “Ms. Maia, how about giving me some respect?”

“Mr. Martin, it’s not that I won’t give you respect, but I can’t do so.” Maia’s smile remained, but her tone was icy.

“What do you mean?”

“Mr. Martin, why don’t you ask Mr. Cedric for this favor?” Maia turned her head and looked at Cedric, who was not far away.

Martin was stunned for a few seconds, and then said nothing further. He immediately pushed

Tiffany away.

“Mr. Martin…” Tiffany appeared pitiful, looking at Martin, expecting him to help her.

Martin didn’t even look at Tiffany. Instead, he looked at Maia, noticing the bodyguards standing at the resort’s entrance. The one taking the lead was Baz.

Martin sat in the car, smiled at Maia, and said, “Ms. Maia, until next time.”

“Mr. Martin, have a safe journey.” Maia nodded.

Then, the car door closed, and the luxury car drove away. Tiffany watched the departing car,

shouting, “Mr. Martin, we had an agreement. How can you abandon me…”

Tiffany was anxious because Martin was her only lifeline. Maia watched Tiffany, who was about to chase after the car, and reached out to grab her wrist.

“Stop daydreaming. Save some energy. A man like him, who enjoys fleeting pleasures and revels in debauchery, won’t risk everything for a woman,

Tiffany’s last hope shattered. She clutched her skirt, glared at Maia, and said, “You’re the president of Starlight Entertainment. You have no worries about food and clothing, with plenty of money to spend. What about me?

“I came out of a small talent show, acted in rotten films, and wasn’t even the female lead. I followed Fiona because I had no other choice. I just wanted some resources so that the audience could see me. Why won’t you let me go?!”

Tiffany’s emotions were agitated, and this was at the resort’s entrance. Despite the tall bodyguards surrounding her, Tiffany’s crying and yelling still attracted much attention. Maia found Tiffany’s actions

ridiculous.

“I hope you understand. It’s not that I won’t let you go, but you have to pay the price for actions. You’re an adult with the ability to judge right from wrong.

your

“Don’t cry and complain, telling me how miserable you are. You should’ve known this would happen when you gave Fiona that drug. Many people in the world are much more unfortunate than you.”

Compassion is reserved for those who deserve it. People like Tiffany, who would stop at

nothing for personal gain and refuse to acknowledge their actions, were not worthy of sympathy.

Chapter 321 Aren’t You Venting Your Anger?

“H–How could you? How could you throw your weight around and treat me this way? How could you talk to me like this? You don’t have the right! You can’t do this!”

Tiffany yelled at Maia like a maniac. It was as if she wanted to grab everyone’s attention. She covered her face and cried.

Maia fixed a steely–eyed gaze on her. She shrieked, “I’m warning you, Tiffany. Your tears might help you when you’re dealing with the likes of Martin, but they won’t work on me. Hell, it wouldn’t have helped even if you’re bleeding.

. “So, save your breath, shut your trap, and let the bodyguards take you upstairs. I might let you

walk free if you come clean. You’re going to regret it if all you do is continue to scream and cry!”

Tiffany was frightened, and her face was still wet with tears. Then, Cedric said coldly, “Take her upstairs.”

The bodyguards nodded respectfully when they saw their master and said, “As you wish, Mr. Cedric!”

They took Tiffany to the resort after they had cleared up the crowd. She was stunned by Cedric’s blood–chilling demeanor and stopped screaming. Instead, she kept her head down and obediently followed the bodyguards to the resort.

Then, Cedric took Maia’s wrist and brought her to the resort too. She thought it was strange that there were no celebrities nor crew in sight.

“Did you send someone to clear out the place?” She looked at him and asked, “Was it because you didn’t want any unwanted attention when your men took her upstairs?”

He chuckled at her question. It was just Tiffany. Why did he have to be concerned if anybody else saw her being taken upstairs? He was not in the slightest bit worried about it. She was what mattered most to him.

“I cleared the place out because you didn’t want people to see us together.” Maia was stunned for a few seconds. His tone was calm, but she caught a hint of sadness in his eyes.

Was he really sad, or was she imagining it?

She mumbled softly, “Actually, I’m not totally against the idea of the other people seeing us. I wouldn’t have let you carry me on your back for such a long way otherwise.” There weren’t many people on the beach, but quite a number saw both of them.

Cedric smiled, pinched her fair cheeks, and stole a kiss from her. “Let’s go.” With that, he took her hands, led her to the elevator, and went to the twelfth floor.
