Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 174

hapter 174 I've Let You Down

“So, you chose to trust her and carry out her orders?” Maia asked incredulously. “You don’t even know who she was, yet you still chose to raise your gun at me? Oswald, how foolish could you be?”

“| had no other choice. | had to give it a try even if the odds were against me. As long as my grandson is saved, | would even kill myself to atone for the sins I’ve committed.” Oswald's voice trembled with guilt.

Cedric just eyed him coldly and spat at him. “How stupid!”

“Mr. Cedric, this was all my doing. Please don’t hurt my family. They know nothing about this. They’re still trying to figure out ways to save my grandson. Please, don’t harm them.”

Baz could no longer contain his anger as he reprimanded Oswald, “How foolish could you be! You could’ve asked Mr. Cedric for help instead! Instead, you choose to believe some woman who you’ve never even met?”

“That woman on the phone even gave me 3 million dollars just to persuade me. She told me that my grandson would be promised a privileged life.

“In the end, | was just an idiot tempted by her wealth and promise to save my grandson. | was even willing to kill just to get what I wanted! I’m a horrible person!” Oswald kept shaking his head in regret. Unfortunately, it was meaningless.

Oswald felt so much shame that he decided to kill himself. He stood up and dashed toward a nearby pillar. Cedric’s men who were standing next to him quickly restrained him.

“Please let me go! | can’t face Mr. Cedric and Ms. Maia anymore. This is the only thing | can do to try to atone for my sins!” When Baz was about to plead on behalf of the pitiful Oswald, Cedric signaled him to remain quiet. Maia looked at Oswald’s pained expression. She knew that he had meant what he said.

“Oswald, I'll search for a suitable donor for your grandson and pay for all the necessary fees. However, you have also committed an unforgivable sin. | understand that you only wanted to do what's best for your grandson.”

Maia had once lost her baby. She knew how painful it was to lose a loved one, especially someone so much younger

“Ms. Maia, you're still willing to help me after all that I’ve done to you?” Oswald stared at her in shock. He already knew how kind she was, but to be able to go this far was admirable.

Maia just smiled in return. “I’m not doing this for you. I’m just trying to help a poor child to +15 BONUS will pack your things and leave this place immediately.

“From now on, you should just live your life. | don’t need you to feel grateful for what I’ve done either. Just make sure that you bring up you grandson well and teach him to always be kind to others.”

“Thank you, Ms. Maia, for your kindness and generosity. | will forever remember this and teach my grandson well.” Oswald teared up as he made a sincere promise.

Maia turned toward Cedric, who had already changed into a black button-down shirt. “Could we release him now?”

Cedric looked straight at her as their eyes met. Maia had truly changed. She was no longer the naive little girl that she once was. The speech she gave Oswald was powerful and moving.

“If you say so.” Cedric signaled for his men to release the bound Oswald. When Oswald was released, he gave a deep bow to Maia and Cedric. “Thank you so much.”

Cedric just looked at him stoically as he instructed Baz to send him away. Oswald had betrayed. him, there was no need to be civil anymore.

Baz nodded and escorted Oswald out of the game room.

Before Oswald left, he walked briefly toward Maia and said, “Ms. Maia, | hope you'll be happy with Mr. Cedric. | had also enjoyed watching the program you made.”

Oswald gave her a final smile and left with Baz and the bodyguards.

After everyone had left, Maia stood up and walked toward the door. As she passed Cedric, het grabbed her wrist to stop her.

“| understand now,” he said.

Maia was confused. “What do you mean?”

“That I’ve let you down.*

Maia’s heart skipped a beat from his confession. She did not expect him to learn about this from her conversation with Oswald. Maia just smiled in reply. “It’s late, Cedric. I’m going to bed.”

“How could | rebuild that trust?” He wanted to try.

Maia tried to struggle out of his grip, but he did not relent. She bit her lower lip nervously as she could feel the warmth from his palm.

“A teacup that was broken would never be the same even if it was pieced together by a skilled craftsman. The same goes for trust. It’s difficult to rebuild after you’ve destroyed it.”
