Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 515

Gilbert came back with a tray of food, and instead of sitting on the couch, he chose to perch on the armrest of Sherilyn's sofa.

The reason was pretty solid, "I'm holding this plate for you, so you can eat more comfortably."

Sherilyn couldn't be bothered to call him out on his obvious play for closeness. She picked up a piece of grilled salmon and stuffed it into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out adorably as she chewed.

Adorable, indeed.

Gilbert watched her for a moment, charmed, before he cautiously asked, "Have you seen Edgar around?"

Sherilyn paused, a look of confusion crossing her face, "No, is he here too?"

"Yeah." Gilbert even pointed in a direction for her, "Over there, see him?"

"Oh." Sherilyn nodded, her expression unchanged.

Gilbert pulled a grimace, "And the girl with him, you see her?"

Sherilyn gave him a sideways glance, "Yeah, I see her. What about her?"

Was it possible that he recognized Yuna as the girl involved in her kidnapping that day?

Clearly, he hadn't.

"The girl's last name is Martin." Gilbert squinted slightly, a hint of depth and darkness in his gaze. "Can't quite remember her first name."

Mainly because he couldn't be bothered to remember.

"Her father's a physics professor and dean at the university, and her mother runs a chain of grocery stores. A well-educated family with a modest wealth, quite a match for Edgar in terms of social standing."Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Sherilyn smiled slightly, "So it seems."

He knew quite a lot.

Such a well-matched couple, indeed!

Back in the day, when Farley Martin met her mother Tania, Farley was just a poor college student facing the threat of dropping out.

Tania, though a woman, had a knack for business.

Back then, she ran a small but profitable convenience store.

The two fell in love at first sight, and Tania used the store's earnings to support Farley's education.

The costs for their house, car, and other expenses were all covered by Tania's earnings.

Over those years, as Farley

continued his studies, Tania's business grew from a small

convenience store to a supermarket, and eventually, she opened more branches...

Then, they had Sherilyn.

Life seemed to be getting better and better.

Until Tania's sister, Malvina, showed up pregnant and in tears...

"Sherilyn, hello?" Gilbert waved his hand

anno front of her face, looking

annoyed. "What's the matter? Upset tEdgar's dating someone?"

"Why would I be?" Sherilyn snapped back to reality, looking at him and replying, "I just think that girl looks somewhat familiar."

Holding Sherilyn's hand, he noticed how soft and delicate her fingers were, pleasing to the eye.

"You stand out to me. You're more beautiful than any of them."

Sherilyn's cheeks warmed up, and she pushed him lightly, pointing at the plate, "This salmon is delicious. Go get some more."

Seeing the empty plate, Gilbert laughed and stood up, "Alright, wait here."

As soon as he left, Sherilyn's smile faded.

Something didn't sit right with her. From what Gilbert implied, were Edgar and Yuna dating?

It wasn't jealousy she felt.

Rather, she thought Edgar deserved better.

Setting aside Yuna's parents, the fact that Yuna could resort to kidnapping and threats for her own gains...

What kind of person did that make her?

Did Edgar really know her? And if he did, did he like her knowing all this, or was he completely in the dark? Should she intervene? Sherilyn felt torn and undecided.

---

Early the next morning, Sherilyn arrived at the dance troupe's studio.

Before she could even change, she was summoned to the director's office.
