Whispers Of Betrayal (Anastasia and Alastor)

Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Anastasia sat on the couch with a headache for a while before getting up and picking up her coat to head outside.

She was still wondering why Alastor would go to a bar and light in a drunken state.

Anastasia had known Alastor for four years, and she knew that he was mature and composed. He would never do such a thing as to lose his status. That was why the incident that day surprised her.

Blood drained from her face as Anastasia felt a severe headache.

When she was discharged from the hospital, she saw Alastor deliver food to Felicia in a hurry. She wondered if they had quarreled

Anastasia laughed ironically and thought, “It looks like they really had a quarrel.”

After knowing that Alastor was going to leave a marriage with nothing, Felicia had her face turned gloomy.

With her attitude, Felicia must have fought with Alastor.

Alastor did not make comparisons between Anastasia and Felicia in the past, but after four years of marriage, Anastasia’s sensibility was the biggest comparison.

Anastasia knew Alastor did not love her, but men were assholes. Even if they did not love someone, it did not mean they would not make a comparison of their women.

Anastasia drove to the bar. When she got out of the car, her legs felt numb, and her bones began to hurt. She did not know how long her body could hold on.

“You’re finally here!” In a private room, a man said with a reproachful tone. It was Alastor’s younger cousin, Steven Quigley, who was also a member of the company’s management.

“Why don’t you just send him back by yourself?” Anastasia asked in a deepened voice.

The corner of Alastor’s lips was bruised, which was clearly caused by a fight.

Alastor drank a lot of booze but was not completely unconscious.

“The fight has just subsided. You have no idea what I witnessed. I have never seen Alastor like this before… It was so scary. He went crazy and fought someone,” Steven said with lingering fear. “Fortunately, he just fought with a waiter.”

Anastasia frowned and walked to Alastor. “Why didn’t you call Felicia to pick you up?”

Alastor was lying on a couch, looking somewhat in pain. He must have had a headache after drinking too much..

Anastasia knew Alastor had a bad stomach. Drinking alcohol would also cause gastric pain and a headache the next day. Therefore, when Alastor returned home from business meetings every time, Anastasia would prepare him a hangover remedy to soothe his stomach.

“Where’s the person who fought with him?” Yet, Anastasia did not want to care about Alastor this time.

Since he decided to divorce, Alastor should have called Felicia as he had chosen Felicia between her and Anastasia.

“Anastasia, leave the matter alone. I’ll deal with it. Just take Alastor back quickly.” Steven asked Anastasia to take Alastor home impatiently.

“That person would be me.” At the entrance of the private room, Jason leaned against the door frame. When he saw Anastasia coming, he took the initiative to put out the cigarette smoke, as he knew that she was pregnant.

Anastasia was stunned for some time while looking at Jason.

Both men did not get any advantage, only getting injuries on their faces.

Anastasia took a deep breath, feeling confused. “Why did you two fight?”

“I have no idea. He beats people around like a mad dog” Jason frowned.

“Who did you call a mad dog!” Steven was a little enraged and stepped forward, wanting to punch Jason.

“Steven, you’d better take care of Alastor!” Anastasia stood in front of Jason with slight anger.

She wondered what exactly Alastor was trying to do by fighting with Jason.

Anastasia, why are you protecting him?” Steven looked at Anastasia in astonishment. Anger was shown on his face later on. “It seems that Alastor is right. You already have someone else.”

Anastasia looked at Steven, feeling her fingers turn numb.

She thought, “Is that how Alastor told Steven about me?”

Anastasia clenched her fingers tightly with trembling breaths, and her gaze fell on Alastor.

Alastor sat up straight and looked up at Anastasia with a complicated gaze.

“Anastasia, why are you treating Alastor like this? No wonder he’s so mad today! Is this how you treat him when he has been good to you in the past four years of marriage?” Steven glared at Jason angrily and then at Anastasia. “When you two got married, our whole family opposed the marriage. It was my brother who insisted on marrying you and ignored their opposition. Your poor family was like a beggar, following behind Alastor and always asking him for money. Did Alastor even complain about you these years?” Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

“Steven!” Alastor’s voice was deep and full of anger. He clearly wanted Steven to shut up.

“Alastor! Why should I shut up? What makes her think she could do such terrible things to you!” Steven was emotionally agitated. “What gives her the right to treat you like this when you have been good to her? She even secretly installed surveillance cameras at home, wanting to force you to leave the marriage with nothing. This woman is really malicious.”

Anastasia took a deep breath, and her eyes darkened.

In order to put her on charges, Alastor had already started to slander her in front of his family, paving the way for forcing her to divorce.

“Anastasia…” Jason noticed something was off with Anastasia and hugged her in panic. “Anastasia!”

“Get lost!” Alastor also rushed forward to snatch Anastasia in panic and pushed Jason away. “Don’t let me see you before we get a divorce…”
