Chapter 75

This was probably the toughest Bill had been since he started following James.
He was seriously worried about Kristin.
Vincent was grim as he smirked sarcastically. “Bill, you’re so worked up. You seem to be quite taken with her.”
“Buzz off.” Bill pushed the guy next to him and sat upright. “I need to see Carter.”
“He won’t see you, of course. You’ll just have to suck it up and stay put in the car until the Chamber of Commerce dinner wraps up.”
Vincent straightened his clothes, ready to get out of the car.
“Aren’t you scared Mr. Bryce will find out?” Bill glared at Vincent.
“The plan was Carter’s idea. I’m just along for the ride, Bill. What could James do to his grandpa?” Vincent chuckled and stepped out of the car.
Bill knew that the people stopping him were Carter’s guys.
Vincent sure didn’t have the guts or the clout to block James‘ right–hand man.
At the hospital.
York was pacing anxiously.
“Mr. FitzGerald, the dinner’s about to start. You better head out.”
The Chamber of Commerce dinner was more than just a feast. It was a networking hotspot, a place to exchange resources. And it wasn’t just luxury brands showing up. Superstars and influential people from all walks of life were going to be there.
As a leading figure in various circles, Rhett was the center of attention.
If he didn’t show, it’d be a big blow to the FitzGerald Group.
“Mr. FitzGerald, I’ve got things covered here. Kristin will be fine. She’s just faking it…”
“Why don’t you try slicing your neck and see how it feels?” Rhett cut York off coldly.
York was taken aback, looking at Rhett.
Rhett seemed dead serious, genuinely concerned about Kristin..
What was scarier was that Rhett was covered in Kristin’s blood. From the break of dawn until
now, he hadn’t had a moment’s rest or even changed his clothes.
Rhett was not only a clean freak but also absolutely couldn’t stand others‘ blood.
But it seemed like he couldn’t care less right now.
“Mr. FitzGerald…”

“I said not to slander others without evidence,” Rhett leaned back in his chair, massaging his
temples.
“Mr. FitzGerald, it was the Haywood family and Vincent who took her from James‘ place last night and kept her in that abandoned factory on the outskirts. I checked that there were ten bodyguards that night… Their job was to hurt Kristin for videos and photos, and blackmail her into dropping the case.”
As York turned his gaze away, his face flushed with unmistakable anger.
Rhett glanced at York before asking. “Did Vincent go to the dinner?”
“Yes” York nodded.
“Tell the hospital to call me the moment she wakes up.” Rhett stood up, leaving the room with a dark cloud hanging over him.
York took a sharp breath and smacked himself stealthily, blaming his abruptness.
With Rhett in this mood, Vincent was in for it.
At the dinner.
James frowned at his phone. Where had Bill run off to?
Feeling uneasy, James went to the restroom to call Kristin, but she didn’t pick–up.
His face darkened for a moment before he stepped out and ordered his other assistant, “Find Bill and bring him to me.”
“Mr. FitzGerald has arrived.”
Most of the Chamber was waiting for Rhett. After all, James and Rhett were known as the two geniuses of the business world.
“Mr. FitzGerald, I heard you’ve been in Crescendo Town for a while.” At the entrance, a leading actress was already making a beeline to chat him up.
Rhett didn’t look too happy, dressed in a new suit, his flawless face attracting a crowd like
moths to a flame.
Even if Rhett entered showbiz, he would be top–tier.
“Mr. FitzGerald, did you oversleep at the hotel?” James approached with a smile.
Rhett’s gaze landed on Vincent, not far away. Ignoring James, he marched straight over.
In James‘ eyes, he’d failed to protect Kristin and had already lost.
James furrowed his brow. “What’s wrong with Rhett?”
His secretary whispered from behind, “Mr. Bryce, something seems off.”
With a muffled thud, everyone was shocked at Rhett’s move.

Thank goodness no reporters were allowed at the business event.
Rhett grabbed Vincent by the collar and landed a punch right there.
James knitted his brows together. What had Vincent done to send Rhett off the rails, not even caring about his image?
This was the Chamber dinner. Rhett hitting Vincent was family business, but did it need to be aired in public? This was clearly a move to ruin Vincent in the business.
Vincent was equally stunned. “Rhett…”
Pointing at Vincent, Rhett said, “You’re an adult. You’re responsible for your actions.”
Vincent’s heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean…”
“Ask the cops.” Rhett shoved Vincent away.
Vincent took a deep breath.
Could it be that Kristin was in trouble?
Impossible. He had made it clear last night that those guys weren’t to hurt Kristin, no fatalities allowed.
“Rhett… what happened?” Vincent started to panic.
No one–dared to approach, unclear about the drama of the FitzGerald family.
“Mr. Vincent, please come with us for an investigation. We believe you’re connected to an illegal detention and assault case,” the police arrived, taking Vincent away.
Vincent went dark. Being taken away by the police here was a blatant move to destroy him! “Isn’t that a bit much? York trailed behind Rhett. “He’s still a member of the FitzGerald family as your brother. If Mr. FitzGerald found out…”
Rhett snorted with disdain. “Vincent brought it on himself.”
Vincent straightened his clothes, wearing a calm and collected smile: “I’m sure there’s been some kind of misunderstanding here.”
With that, he willingly walked off with the police. He definitely wasn’t going to let Rhett get the upper hand.
Was Rhett thinking of ruining Vincent this way to severe his chances of fighting for the FitzGerald Group inheritance? No way!
“Rhett, what’s happened to Vincent?” someone plucked up the courage to ask.
Some of the elders inquired as well.
Rhett spoke nonchalantly. “Sorry for the spectacle Vincent’s been spoiled by his parents and violated the law.”

With Rhett’s explanation, everyone got the hint and tactfully stopped prying. NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
The FitzGerald family had enough on their plate with Rhett, and Vincent was the son of Rhett’s
stepmom.
Before this stepmom married into the FitzGerald family, Vincent was nothing but a love child.
Rumors were swirling around Silvergrove City that Rhett’s mom was killed by Vincent’s mom.
Everyone knew that despite their cordial harmony, they were at odds at heart.
Too bad for Vincent, Rhett was just too formidable, always outshining him. If any real trouble stirred up, it looked like Vincent might never be able to turn the tables on Rhett.
York stayed close behind Rhett, his palms starting to sweat.
Rhett was known for his decisive and ruthless actions. He had a ton of ways to deal with Vincent, but he chose the most brutal one.
The incident with Kristin was just the tip of the iceberg. Rhett was clearly using it as a chance. to show everyone cozying up to Vincent secretly in the business and tell them who the real boss of the FitzGerald Group was.
Rhett was even more hardcore.
York found himself inexplicably anxious for Kristin, worrying she might become collateral damage in Rhett’s scheme against Vincent and his mother.
