When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 221

"I see. I'll be counting on you to take care of my niece."

"No problem."

After discussing work briefly, Josephine finally turned to look at Ethan.

She was surprised to see him wearing a white sportswear set that had the same style and colors as hers.

It almost looked like they were wearing a couple's matching set.

Matthew seemed to notice as well. He looked down at his own black sportswear and chuckled. "Are you two teaming up to exclude me?"

"Me and him? We're of different genders and heights. How are we supposed to team up?"

Josephine patted Ethan's shoulders and compared their height differences. She was a full head shorter than him.

She quickly suggested, "But Mr. Frye, if you want to play one against two, I don't mind."

"Forget it." Matthew laughed. "I can barely handle him. If you join in, wouldn't I be crushed?"

Only when Matthew saw Josephine did he notice that something was definitely going on between Ethan and her.

It looked like he was going to be a third wheel today.

He looked at Ethan helplessly. "How are we going to play with three people? Don't tell me you two have decided to team up and take turns to play against me.

"I'm older, so I don't think I can keep up with you two stamina-wise."

Ethan smiled. "Actually, it's the other way around. The two of you will take turns playing me."

Then, he turned to Josephine. "Have you played squash before?"

Josephine had to suppress her laughter.

Not only had she played before, she was professionally trained. Back when she was overseas, she learned from a professional player.

After a while, she was practically unbeatable.

Seeing how confident Ethan was to even suggest a one or two, she couldn't help but want to mess with him.noveldrama

"I've played, but I'm not that good."

Matthew laughed heartily. "Perfect. We're both amateurs, but as long as we work together, we might be able to take him down!"

Ethan reassured Josephine. "Don't worry, both Matthew and I are amateurs as well. We'll go first. You can warm up on the other court."

Then, he pointed at the court beside them.

Josephine raised an eyebrow. "Don't you need to warm up?"

Ethan replied, "I can warm up while playing with him."

Warm up while playing? Did he even hear himself?

It was obvious he didn't take Matthew seriously at all.

The more confident he was now, the more frustrating it would be when he lost later.

The thought of his flawless image crumbling after defeat made her excited. She was wondering how he would react.

Would he feel embarrassed, helpless, or even flustered?

Hoping that her turn came sooner, she went to the next court.

Unexpectedly, a lady was waiting for her there. "Ms. Dunn, nice to meet you. Mr. Dane asked me to help you warm up. Let's play."

"Oh, thank you."

She hadn't expected Ethan to be so thoughtful as to arrange someone to warm up with her. The thought of her messing with him made ber feel a little guilty.

The moment she left, the match on the other court began.

Squash and tennis had similarities in terms of gameplay and rules. One player would serve into the service

zone, and the other player would have to receive after it had bounced off the wall.

Failing to do so would lead to losing a point.

It was a sport that demanded judgment, quick reflexes, and explosive movement.

This was why warming up was critical.

The reason why Ethan skipped the

warm-up was to avoid wasting Matthew's time. He was also confident that he could hold himself against Matthew even without warming up.

Sure enough, even though Matthew's serves looked ferocious, Ethan could return them easily.

That being said, Ethan was rather generous. He would make sure to feed Matthew some easier shots before scoring the point.

After the match, Matthew was sitting on the floor, drenched in sweat.

He wiped the sweat off his face and gave Ethan a thumbs up. "Damn, you're good!"
