Chapter 435 Can’t Have You Go to Someone Else
Edwin did not even dare to look Marin in the eye, afraid of being seen through.
“Yes, indeed.”
He nodded and paid attention to the road ahead.
“There will be a party tomorrow night. If you have time, I would like to invite you as my plus-one.”
“I see…”
Marin drawled with interest, but she did not immediately agree.
Edwin became disheartened.
“If it’s inconvenient for you, it’s fine. I can look for someone else,” he said honestly.
“Do you think I will let you do that?”
She replied in a slightly playful manner. When Edwin reacted, his face turned red.
“So, you mean you agreed to my request?”
“I only promised to be your plus-one for tomorrow night, but I didn’t promise you anything Else.”
Marin’s words had an undertone.
But Edwin was immersed in the joy of her first sentence and didn’t think about the other.
Marin smiled but did not say anything. She quite liked his reaction.
Edwin parked the car outside the hotel and went to the passenger seat to open the door for her.
But Marin seemed to have no intention of getting out of the car at all.
“What’s wrong? Is there anything else?” he asked seriously.
“When are you going to hold my hand?”
Marin asked him with a smile. Edwin instantly blushed and froze in place.
“Wh… what?”
“Didn’t we agree I would be your plus-one tomorrow? You should at least practice it, right?” Marin asked.
“You don’t have to be so nervous. I believe you can do it well.”
“Is that so?”
Marin leaned closer to him with interest.
“It seems you are the one who is nervous.”
Edwin did not dare to look at her at all.
Marin did not want to tease him anymore. She got out of the car on her own and walked to the hotel. Unexpectedly, her right hand was grabbed by someone.
“Cough, cough…” Edwin pulled his collar. “I’ll walk you up and practice.”
The next day, Alexa’s birthday party was held.
Many big shots in the circle were present, and the venue was lively.
Although it was a birthday party, it was actually a vanity fair.
Alexa had a big baby bump and couldn’t hide it.
Terrence stayed by her side all the time, and when the others saw it, they did not go forward to disturb her.
“You should entertain the guests.” Alexa tapped Terrence’s palm. “I think many people want to see you.”
“They want to see you.” Terrence said, “But with me by your side, they don’t dare to come forward.”
Alexa smiled and fed him a strawberry.
They were whispering to each other when Alexa suddenly caught a glimpse of Edwin.
And the woman beside Edwin was Marin.
They looked at each other through the crowd. Marin blinked at Alexa charmingly.
“Ridiculous.”
Alexa gasped and complained in a low voice.
Terrence asked, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s fine.”
Alexa replied with good grace, raising her glass to Marin meaningfully.
Marin and Edwin looked like a young couple who had just fallen in love.
Sasha also noticed Marin and Edwin.
“That’s Alexa’s friend.” Sasha commented indifferently, “She’s quite good looking. She actually got into a relationship with Edwin.”
Zeke followed her gaze and felt that the woman looked a little familiar.
“Do you know her?”
“I played cards with her once.”
“What’s her name?”
Sasha frowned, clearly unhappy.
“Are you interested in her? It’s a pity that you don’t have a chance now. She has a boyfriend,” Sasha said sarcastically.
The malice in Zeke’s eyes deepened, and he still stared at Marin.
Sasha tugged at him several times, but he did not respond.
“Do you have to make trouble with me on this occasion?”
Sasha lost her temper, and Zeke frowned, obviously annoyed with her.
“I just think she looks familiar, and I don’t mean anything else. Don’t make trouble.”
“Familiar?”
Sasha snorted coldly and rolled her eyes.
“Which woman do you not find familiar?”
Sasha was about to flare up when she suddenly saw a well-dressed middle- aged woman appear beside Alexa. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Noticing that Zeke deliberately turned around, Sasha teased.
“Is that your mother?”
“What are you trying to do now?”
“I’m not doing anything.” Sasha shrugged with a faint smile. “Let’s go over and say hello.”
“That’s enough.”
Zeke pushed her hand away, and his tone became a bit hurried.
“I’m going out for a smoke.”
Seeing him leave in a hurry, Sasha felt quite disdainful.
Zeke was not boyfriend material.
At this moment, Marin left Edwin’s side.
When she came out of the toilet with more lipstick on, she was blocked by Zeke.
Marin hid the sharpness in her eyes and smiled politely.
“Sir, please make way.”
“Miss, have we met somewhere before?”
Zeke looked her up and down with ill intentions.
“You look similar to an old friend of mine.”
He remembered clearly that the woman who had taken the lead in attacking him in the garage was quite similar to the woman in front of him.
“Is that so?” Marin smiled. “I don’t know you. I’m sorry.”
Zeke took two steps forward recklessly, his eyes icy.
“Can’t we talk and get to know each other? Let’s have a drink together later?”
Marin was just thinking about whether to beat him up when someone suddenly pulled her over.
“She already has a boyfriend. I’m sorry.”
Edwin said coldly. Although he still looked refined, his hostility was intense. “Are you her boyfriend?”
Zeke asked frivolously, still unwilling to let Marin go.
“Can’t you tell? I remember you. You came with Ms. Molina. Can you behave yourself?” Marin raised his eyebrows coldly.
Realizing Edwin’s hostility toward him was getting stronger, Zeke did not want to start a fight.
Sasha called Zeke, and he took the opportunity to leave.
As soon as Zeke left, Edwin released Marin.
“I’m sorry. I was forced to do so. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
Marin lifted the light hair on her temples and looked up at Edwin.
“Did you know my identity?”
She was still smiling at Edwin, but there was no emotion in her eyes.
“What?”
“You are Mr. Ramsey’s most capable assistant. It’s easy for you to find a person’s information. I knew you,” Marin said in a relaxed tone.
Edwin did not respond.
“But I only want to know one thing. Did you deliberately approach me because of my identity?”
Silence ensued.
“I know your identity.” Edwin said slowly, “But meeting you at that coffee shop was unexpected.”
“Are you still my puppy?”
Marin waved her phone in front of him. Edwin saw he was named “puppy” on her contact list.
“Do you hope so?”
