POSSIBLE
“So, how did you know that Kimberly is the granddaughter of someone named Arthur Rayder?” Nicholas asked, curious.
This evening, after returning from work, Nicholas and Kenzi decided to stop by a coffee shop for a chat. Oh, and let’s not forget Edward. As the life of the party and the ‘hype man,’ he was also present. There was no way he would miss a moment like this.
Kenzi had her own agenda for coming to Indonesia. There was an important meeting she had to attend. In fact, the day after tomorrow, once the event was over, she had to rush back to London. There was no one to fill her shoes there.
Kenzi took a sip of her coffee, which she had been holding, and then answered, “Actually, when I found out you were getting close to your secretary, I asked Hans to investigate Kimberly’s background. The woman you thought was ordinary turned out to be the granddaughter of a Singaporean conglomerate. However, in recent years, after being left by his son and wife, Arthur chose to live in Indonesia and continue his business here. But due to his deteriorating health, Arthur entrusted Mario to handle all of his businesses.”
“Wait a minute…” Nicholas interjected, raising one hand to stop Kenzi from speaking. “Who did you mention just now?”
Kenzi furrowed her brow. “What do you mean?”
Nicholas nodded. “Yes, the name you mentioned, the person handling Rayder Corp’s business now.”
“Mario?” Kenzi confirmed.
“Yes, his name sounds very familiar to me,” Nicholas replied.
Kenzi then took out her phone from her pocket, searched for something, and showed it to Nicholas.
“This is Mario.”
Nicholas grabbed the phone that Kenzi handed him and carefully examined the photo on the screen. The next moment, his eyes widened.
“Oh my! This is the guy I’ve crossed paths with several times. He’s the one who claimed to be Kimberly’s fiancé the other night-”This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Don’t forget, he’s also the one who attacked you,” Edward interjected, speaking with a deliberately mocking tone.
Nicholas took a deep breath. “Yes, I know I was wrong. Anyway, I let my emotions get the best of me that night and called Kimberly a cheap woman.”
Edward was taken aback. He didn’t expect Mr. Arrogant up there to admit his own mistake. That was a very rare occurrence.
“You’re not drunk, are you?” Edward joked.
Nicholas looked at Edward disinterestedly. “What’s the meaning behind your words, Ed?”
Edward chuckled. “I just didn’t expect you to apologize. After all, your pride has always been paramount,” he taunted openly.
Nicholas glanced at Edward with indifference. “Enough, Ed. I don’t want to argue right now. I’m just thinking about who this guy with Kimberly really is,” Nicholas said, full of curiosity.
Kenzi took over the conversation.
“Mario is the eldest son and owner of the Adiatma Group. He’s been friends with Kimberly since childhood. According to the report that Hans provided, he was supposed to be engaged to Kimberly. However, the plan fell through because Kimberly refused and suddenly left home,” Kenzi explained at length.
Finally, Nicholas knew the identity of the person who had crossed paths with him and Kimberly several times. He also realized that the man’s claim to be Kimberly’s fiancé wasn’t an exaggeration. Knowing this, Nicholas felt that his hopes of reconciling with Kimberly were dwindling.
“Ken…” Nicholas, who had initially bowed his head, now raised his gaze and looked intently at Kenzi.
“Do you also know where the Rayder family lives?” Nicholas needed to know where Kimberly lived. He was determined to meet her soon and resolve all the issues between them, apologizing for all the foolishness he had done.
Kenzi nodded. “Of course, I know where Kimberly lives. I’ll send you the location. Maybe when you have a day off, you can go there directly. But… there’s one problem.”
“What other problem?” Nicholas asked, puzzled.
“One, I’m not sure if Kimberly will be willing to accept your presence in her home. Two, Arthur Rayder is known to be a very private and hard-to-approach person. Even if Kimberly forgives you and wants to be with you again, I’m not sure Arthur will immediately approve. Not to mention Mario’s dominant position in the Rayder family.”
Nicholas slumped after listening to all the possibilities Kenzi outlined for him. What he predicted might indeed happen. Especially if Mario reported to Arthur what Nicholas had done to Kimberly.
Nicholas massaged his suddenly throbbing temple. His mind felt stuck. There were so many plans he had to make regarding Kimberly.
First, I have to apologize.
Second, I have to convince Kimberly.
Third, I have to persuade Kimberly to come back to me.
And finally, I have to convince Kimberly’s grandfather to accept our relationship.
Nicholas let out a frustrated sigh. His self-confidence, which he had always possessed, seemed to have disappeared. What remained now was a sense of despair.
“Ken…” Nicholas mumbled again. “What should I do? I feel pessimistic about facing Kimberly.” Nicholas’s face looked downcast, as if he had no chance left.
“Goodness, Nicholas Alistair. You’re already waving the white flag before the battle even begins. Are you a man or a mouse? Why are you so spineless?” Edward taunted Nicholas without holding back. Kenzi could only laugh, listening to his teasing.
Nicholas grumbled. “Instead of mocking me, why don’t you help me think of how to meet Kimberly as soon as possible.”
Edward got up from his seat. “You enjoy making things difficult for yourself, Nick. Instead of worrying about all the possibilities that may not even happen, you better expedite your intention to meet Kimberly at her family’s house. Dealing with any rejection can come later.”
After delivering his lengthy speech, Edward swaggered off, leaving Nicholas and Kenzi sitting in silence, watching his antics.
