Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Vanessa was duming. “That was my wedding gift from our parents. It’s a non–matrimonial property. Even Jaden has no claim to it, but his family acts like they’re entitled”
Lorraine echoed her sister’s frustration. “They’re acting like weasels! Vanessa, you can’t agree to that. It’s yours, and you shouldn’t even add Jaden’s name to the deed just because he treats you will now and you’ve givm his family their only grandson doesn’t mean he’ll always be like this. Men can change
“In any case, you should keep your property close at hand. Don’t let your feelings cloud your judgment
and give it away. You’ll regret it later.”
Vanessa wasn’t naive. Her parents were concerned about her marrying into a less wealthy family, so they gave her a nine–story apartment and a car worth over 500,000 dollars, all under her naNME.
She was already pregnant at the time of the wedding. Betore that, the Wares were accommodating and had even promised a generous dowry.
However, Vanessa’s mother–in–le, Bethany Olson, had a change in attitude when she knew Vanessa was pregnant. The promised dowry was reduced by half, and the gifts that were supposed to come through never did.
The Sommers were disappointed with the Wares. Lorraine even urged Vanessa to terminate her pregnancy and call off the engagement. She knew Vanessa would be miserable if she married into such a family.
But Vanessa loved Jaden deeply and couldn’t imagine giving up her unborn child, an she insisted on going through with the marriage. The Sommers had no choice but to provide her with a generous dowry to help her secure a better life.
With her family’s support, Vanessa managed to avoid mistreatment from the Ware family. Plus, she solidified her position after giving birth to the family’s only grandson. The only thom in her side was Donna
Bethany had four sons before finally having a daughter, whom she doted on excessively. Hence, Donna grew up to be a selfish soul who cared about no one but herself.
“Vanassa, you’ve got a nine–story apartment I’m only asking for one floor, not half the place. Why are you so upset? I get that it was a wedding gift from your parents, but since you’ve married Jaden, what’s his is mine too.
“I’m Jaden’s only sister, so what’s his is also mine Vanessa, I’m pregnant now, and we can’t delay the marriage any longer. Let’s go to the County Recorder’s office next Monday to sign the transfer paperwork.”
These were Donna’s words to Vanessa
Every time Vanessa recalled it, she couldn’t help but grit her teeth: “Raine, I’m not that foolish. After we got married, laden tried to sweet–talk me into adding his name to the deed, but I refused
“Besides, I don’beven have the deed. Mom and Dad are keeping it safe for me. I asked for it, they’d want to low why.”
“Mom and Dad have more experience and wisdom than us. Thank goodness they’re keeping the deed for you, or Jaden might have sweet–talked you into adding his name.” Lorraine admired her parents‘ foresight
Vanessa received the apartment as her wedding gift. The ownership their parents wouldn’t be easily convinced. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
was officially transferred, but their parents still held the deed. Even if Jaden’s persuasions swayed Vanessa,
“Actually, Dad’s name is still on the deed, so I can’t make decisions by myself. He’s pretty sharp”
Lorraine admired their parents even more after hearing that.
Their family was relatively well–off. Charles had worked hard as his younger years and invested in several properties, including a number of rental units in town.
Some of these properties were as tall as nine stories, and the ones with elevator facilities reached up to 28 stores.
They earned a significant income from monthly rental fees alone. Her parents were landlords who made monyetfortlessly, even while they slept.
Since they had promised Vanessa a house as part of her wedding gift, they wouldn’t go back on that. Charles name on the deed was simply a safeguard against the Wares.
