Uncle's Love: My Sweet Little Wife

Chapter 103 Birthday

Chapter 103 Birthday

It was Kara's birthday at the Dragon Boat Festival.

Kara was a premature baby, and she had come to this world in such a hurry that day. This had

something to do with the Linda of the Quains.

Eighteen years ago, Veronica, who was in poor health, was admitted to the hospital early in order to

keep her baby safe. David was worried about his wife alone and would come to the hospital to

accompany her after work every day.

Linda was not happy about it. From the beginning, she did not agree with her eldest son to marry

Veronica. Linda thought that Veronica was sick all the time and did not know how to do housework and

she would only stay in her room and draw.

What made her detest Veronica the most was that she took her position as the eldest daughter-in-law

but did not give birth to a son for the Quains. When Veronica finally got pregnant, it was a girl and

Veronica had to get in a hospital so early, costing many medical expenses every.

Linda predicted that Veronica might lose her child, so Linda asked David to divorce Veronica. She

asked David to come during the short holiday of the Dragon Boat Festival and see a few girls

introduced by some relatives.

Unexpectedly, Veronica knew about it. Veronica's water broke that day and was in pain for three days

and nights. When she gave birth to Kara, she almost died during the operation.

David had always felt guilty towards his wife and daughter and quarreled with her mother. He moved

out of the Quain's and bought a villa for his wife and daughter.

Therefore, Linda disliked Kara very much and thought that Kara was a jinx. If Kara had not been born,

Linda's relationship with her eldest son would not have stiffened.

These past events, Kara had heard them from someone else, but she did not care about the details.

Standing in front of her parents' tombstone, Kara thought that she would have a lot to say, but in the

end, she couldn't say a word and just wanted to cry.

James stood next to her and saw her burp from crying. He squatted down and held her in arms.

"Don't you know that you look ugly when you cry?"

Kara wiped her tears and wanted to control herself from burping, but she couldn't.

"So be it. Mom and Dad won't dislike me for it."

Although she said this, she did not break free from his arms.

Looking at the photo on the tombstone, she sobbed, "Mom, today is my birthday. I am already an adult.

Dad, don't worry. I'm much better now. I will live well and happily..."

She would be facing the world of adults from now on!

James hugged the girl with one hand, his brown eyes fixed on the tombstone. His eyes were filled with

complex emotions.

"David, I will take care of Kara from now on!"

Perhaps because Kara was tired from crying, after she got into the car, she leaned on James's

shoulder and fell asleep.

James saw that she was crying so much that her lips were pale and her brown eyes were deep. When

they returned to the villa, he did not wake her up. He lowered his head and kissed one side of her

cheek, carrying her out of the car.

Mason saw the intimate behaviors of Mr. James and Kara from the rearview mirror and widened his

eyes in surprise.

Wasn't him Miss Kara's uncle?

Mr. James wasn't someone who would be so indiscrete. If he could make such a move, then his

feelings towards Miss Kara had probably changed.

Suddenly, Mason felt a cold gaze on him. He trembled and quickly withdrew his gaze.

"Mason, do what you should do, understand?"

"Yes, Mr. James."

Mason sighed in his heart and thought that Miss Kara was innocent and naive, but if she knew the

feelings Mr. James had for him, she might not know how to face him.

...

Kara was woken up by her phone rings. She rubbed her sore eyes and got out of bed to find her

phone.

It was a call from Eli.

Kara took a deep breath and answered.

"Happy birthday, Kara." Eli's voice was light.

"Thank you." Kara was infected by his voice, and his soft voice indicated a hint of a smile.

"Kara, how are you going to celebrate your birthday?"

"I don't have any plan for it."

She planned to learn how to cook noodles from Libby today and then cook a bowl of longevity noodles

for herself.

In the past, when it was her birthday, her parents would always cook birthday noodles. Now that her

parents were gone, she wanted to learn to do it herself.

"I've got a special gift for you." Eli kept silent for a second and then spoke in a low voice.

"Your parents are gone, and the other relatives are not good to you. My cousin is at the Hemmings'

now. You are now must be lonely. Let me stay with you."

The youth's thoughtfulness and care made Kara a little touched. She had been alone to celebrate her

birthday these past few years, so she was lonely.

But she knew what Eli was thinking.

"Eli, thank you but I want to spend my birthday myself, alone."

Eli was silent, and the atmosphere became somewhat awkward.

When the person you liked didn't like you. When you faced somebody's good intentions and had no

choice but to refuse, you would feel guilty and embarrassed.

"Kara, I won't force you, but I still wish you a happy birthday."

When Kara hung up the phone, she thought of Eli's blessing. She took a deep breath.

She went to visit her parent's grave in the morning. Although she was tired from crying, she was very

happy in her heart.

She changed her clothes and was about to go downstairs to made herself birthday noodles when she

heard her phone ring again.

It's the lawyer, Henry.

She immediately picked up the phone and heard the man on the other say that if she wanted to talk

about the contract, she needed to go to his law firm and talk face to face.

She clicked her text message and found an address. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

She didn't think too much about it. She said goodbye to Libby, telling her that she would be right back,

and went out.

Libby thought of Mr. James's order and could not help but ask.

"Miss Kara, today is your birthday. Are you going out to see your friends?"

"Yes, I want to buy some snacks. Libby, wait for me to come back. I still want to make birthday noodles

for myself."

Kara smiled brightly. Her delicate little face was so bright and adorable.

When Kara got to the law firm, she was not sure how long it would take, so she asked Mason to do

some shopping first and she would contact him when she got downstairs.

Mason nodded. Libby had asked him to buy some things along the way, so he went to the supermarket.

A young man walked out of a taxi behind Mason's car. He stared coldly at Kara who had just entered

the law firm, frowning in deep thought.

However, Kara did not feel that she was being followed. When she entered the law firm, she saw

Henry.

"Uncle Chiu, are you waiting for me?"

"Yeah, I was worried that you wouldn't find the right place."

Henry glanced at her and found that she was wearing pink sportswear, a pair of white sports shoes.

Her shoulder-length hair made her looked more and more tender and delicate.

"Uncle Chiu, is there anything wrong?" Kara frowned as she felt uncomfortable from being stared at by

him.

"You've grown taller these past few years. You looked taller but your face hasn't changed much." Henry

shook his head and laughed.

Although she was delicate and slender, she had a terrific figure, and the skin of her face was white and

delicate.

Kara felt that something had changed about Uncle Chiu, but when she followed him into the office, she

still could not figure that out.

"Come, are you thirsty? Have some tea." Henry handed her a cup of tea.

Kara could not refuse. She took the teacup and sniffed it. The smell was too strong and she didn't like

it.

Henry stared at her and asked nervously, "What's the matter? Is the tea too cool? I'll give you another

cup."

Kara thought that Henry was an elder and he took care of her so much that she would be too impolite if

she did not drink the tea.
