True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz)

Chapter 2042

Chapter 2042

"I just don't quite understand why you're so sensitive." Heinz's smile was sly, shocking Gary.

His eyes flickered slightly and he said, "I think you probably didn't really want me to change my ID. If so, just tell me directly instead of being all mysterious like this."

"Of course you should change it." Heinz chuckled and replied, "Forget about what I said."

After that, Heinz went to see Lowell.

Gary stared at his father's retreating back for a long time. What did he mean by that? NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

Heinz seemed to be implying something from what he said.

Gary didn't know what Heinz meant, but his instincts told him that things were not looking good.

He raised his head to look upstairs, his lips pursed. He should go upstairs and be with Celeste.

Even though their hearts may not be aligned with one another's, they could still be physically close to each other.

Gary could be satisfied with that.

Gary walked to the door and pushed it open. Inside, Celeste was reading a book. Her quiet appearance made Gary's heart ache.

After he entered the room, Gary closed the door behind him.

Celeste's figure stiffened visibly, but then she turned around to look at Gary and said hello. "You're back?"

"Yup." Gary nodded.

She didn't know what to say at the moment.

Silence blanketed the room.

Celeste withdrew her gaze and looked down at the book, but her page remained unturned for a long time.

Gary noticed that Celeste seemed a little awkward, and he was startled by that. He looked at Celeste for a while before he sorted out his stuff and said, "I'm heading out today. You should rest early."

Hearing this, Celeste looked up at him and asked, "Are you going out? I mean, are you going to drive?"

"Yeah, I'm heading out to for some errands," Gary replied.

In fact, he just wanted to spare Celeste the awkwardness. Thus, he decided to avoid her for a bit.

Celeste was surprised to hear that. She took a look outside the window. "It's dark out. What are you doing at this time of night?"

Gary didn't expect Celeste to be concerned about him. A bittersweet feeling surged inside Gary's chest.

Gary smiled in reply and said, "Just taking a drive to think about things."

Celeste wet her lips for a moment before she nodded. "Alright. Be careful, okay? Don't stay out too long."

"Okay, go to bed early." Gary turned around and left.

When the door closed again, Celeste was left alone in the room.

She stayed still for a very long time.

Celeste was intuitive, and she wagered that Gary had left because he felt awkward as well.

After all, things between them were a little stiff.

Alas, she could not calm down. There were some things she just couldn't get over.

It was impossible for her to do it.

After Gary left, Celeste couldn't read another page of the book anymore as her brain refused to process any words.

She rubbed her temples and began to browse the news.

Gary drove out of his home and cruised the streets aimlessly.

The streets were still bustling in winter, and the cold did not stop people from going out.

He parked his car near an intersection and got off.

He'd barely taken a step when his phone rang.

He looked at his phone and saw that Yandrea was calling.

Gary turned around to look at his parked car. Then, he got inside and picked up the call.

Yandrea's anxious voice came over the phone, and she sounded very serious.

"Gary, Janice disappeared."

"What do you mean?" Gary frowned right away.

"She's supposed to be in the hospital, and she was discharged a couple days ago. She went home yesterday, and I found out that she had called Celeste an hour earlier. When I went to track her down, I realized that she wasn't home anymore."

"D*mn, she actually went and harassed Celeste again." Gary cursed, and he felt even guiltier for Celeste.

"Janice is more desperate than ever now." Yandrea was also worried about what Janice would do.

Gary sneered and mocked Yandrea. "You knew that Janice called Celeste when she's not even home, but you don't know where she is. Did you even pay Janice any attention?"

"Uh." Yandrea felt a little embarrassed to be called out. "Sorry."

Gary became even angrier upon hearing Yandrea's apology. She would only apologize if she did something wrong or if she felt guilty. She had greatly underestimated Janice's abilities, and she didn't put in adequate effort at keeping an eye on her.

Yandrea must have thought that Janice wouldn't do anything too drastic.

"What the hell is up with you?" Gary couldn't help but curse. "I told you to keep an eye on her. Now that you've lost her, what are you going to do?"

Gary wanted to go straight back to Boston in order to keep an eye on Janice personally.

"I'm going full speed trying to track her down. I'll let you know as soon as I have news." Yandrea was very serious. "She changed her phone, and I haven't been able to locate her yet."

"Did her people leave her house then?" Gary asked.

"No," Yandrea said. "The spies I arranged didn't see Janice coming out of the house, but she's not at home."

"Goddamn it." Gary felt his blood boiling.

There was only one thought in his mind - Janice was most likely going to kick up a huge fuss.

"Yandrea, I'm giving you ten hours. If you can't find Janice by then, we will no longer be friends."

Yandrea realised how serious Gary was being and she explained, "Don't worry. Ten hours is more than enough time."

"Look into airport departures." Gary knew how crazy Janice could be. He was currently at home with Celeste, and he had refused to be together with Janice before. Plus, he had told her directly that he would never accept Janice as his girlfriend.

Therefore, Janice had no other choice but to fly in from where she was.

After all, Gary had personally experienced the depths of Janice's madness.

Yandrea was also slightly pissed off that she had failed to determine Janice's whereabouts.

She was pretty sure that Janice might have taken a flight home after what Gary said.

"I'll check the airlines, but if Janice had returned to Northern City, it would be bad news for your parents. Your father is an influential man, and this might cause a scandal."

"I won't give her the chance to ruin my family. She might have some sway in the States, but not here."

Yandrea said, "Don't be rash about this. I'll make it up to you."

Gary fell silent for a moment before he said, "You do need to fix your mistakes, but I screwed up much worse."

"Gary, don't blame yourself," Yandrea said. "We all need to be calm right now."

Gary narrowed his eyes before he replied, "I'll go check the airline manifests. You can check it out on your side as well and see if we can find a lead somewhere."

"Update you in half an hour," Yandrea replied.

"Alright."

Gary ended the call and calmed himself down a little before he called the airlines.
