Trouble in Paradise

Chapter 0328

"What do you think?"

I bit my slightly numb lips and chuckled. "What else do we have left between us?"

Nicholas frowned. "Why don't you guess why I went to meet Marcus?"NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

My grip tightened around Nicholas' shirt. I was holding onto him so tightly that I was oblivious to the fact that my nails were drawing blood from his shoulders.

"What do you mean?"

Nicholas said, "He's about to be sent abroad, and he'll regain his freedom once he's abroad."

As if that wasn't enough, Nicholas continued, "Once he's abroad, he'll get married and start a family. He'll follow the life his father has planned for him. You won't be in his future life. "I've known all along that the two of you would never work out."

He pinched my cheeks and shook it slightly as if he was trying to admire my pained expression. He also seemed to be testing me, testing to see how important Pete was to me. But he was bound to be disappointed. I would be happier than anyone else if Pete could live well and

have a stable future.

I stopped hiding and struggling. Instead, I reached out to tug away the clothes in between us and wrapped my arms around his waist.

""Let's do this."

I closed my eyes, waiting for him to take what he wanted. But as the seconds ticked away, nothing happened. Perhaps my calmness had caused him to lose interest.

"Nicholas?" I called gently. "If you don't want to do it, could you get off of me?"

Nevertheless, he remained unmoved. Suddenly, there was a loud smashing sound.

Just as I opened my eyes, thinking that he wanted me to take the initiative, he suddenly clenched his hand into a fist and punched the headboard.

The loud sound echoed throughout my head, vibrating through my blood, and stabbing right into my heart.

A crack immediately appeared on the wooden headboard. It was apparent that he had used a lot of force.

Nicholas rolled off of me, and his expression was calm as if he had not just punched the headboard. Then, he left the room after leaving behind a look of disdain and a cracked and bloodied headboard. I got off the bed and went to find a set of clothes to change into.

Once I felt the weight in my heart slowly lift, I went out to take a look at our new "home". Since when did he start preparing all these? Since when did he start wanting to have me stay by his side?

1 shook my head, unwilling to think further about the matter. I planned to head to Jay Caldwell & Co. as there were multiple things to deal with considering that Yasmine wasn't around.

When I went downstairs, I happened to see Nicholas sitting on the sofa in the living room. The afternoon sun streamed through the windows into our house.

His head was slightly tilted to the side as he bit one end of the bandage, trying hard to bandage his bloodied hand.

At that moment, I felt like I could finally understand the comments on the internet. Nicholas did look attractive when he was injured as there was a sense of vulnerability and fragility around him. Nicholas glanced at me momentarily before looking back down, trying to bandage his hand. I thought of how he had helped me and could not bear to turn a blind eye to his injury.

So, I walked over and took the bandage, wanting to help him bandage his wounds. I thought he would refuse to help. But unexpectedly, he placed his hand on my thighs cooperatively.

Well, at least I knew that bastard could be rational when he wanted to. He had managed to throw a tantrum without forgetting to put his well-being first.

I tied a beautiful bow around his hand and asked, "Did you disinfect it?"

Nicholas shook his head. I was slightly angry as I roughly removed the gauze that was wrapped around his hands.

"Why would you do something so stupid if you knew you'd get hurt?"

Nicholas' voice was slightly hoarse as he said, "I can't always stay rational either."

There were times when even he could lose control.
