Trouble in Paradise

Chapter 0326

Marcus love for his wife was well-known throughout the city. But because of Lucia's miscarriage, the two of them were currently at odds against each other. So, how could Marcus possibly be willing to let Pete off the hook? Pete had ruined his family and his business. Even if Pete was Marcus' biological brother, it would be hard for Pete to get out of the situation unscathed. Not to mention, the Goodwins were also out for his head. Just the thought of Pete was enough to fill my whole heart with guilt. The guilt was so strong that my heart hurt.

Karen's gaze shifted calculatingly. If Ariana's ex-husband was here, she would have opened the gates and invited Nicholas inside happily, hoping he could help smooth things over. However, Ariana was the one at their gate. She did not want to waste her breath, so she said, "Did you hear her? She's already asked you to leave. Who do you think you are, trying to negotiate with our family?"

I smiled faintly and asked, "Mrs. Shelman, you knew Pete wanted to harm his brother, inadvertently causing your miscarriage. But do you know why Pete had done such a thing?"Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Lucia shook her head. "Marcus told me it was because of you. That's why I don't want to see you. Just looking at you makes me think of the child that I've lost."

Karen looked at me with disdain, but I simply ignored her and focused my attention on Lucia. "But what if I almost died because of Marcus?"

Karen sneered. "Are people's lives so worthless these days? I can't believe they're people being so eager to talk about their death."

Lucia also said, "Ariana, I don't know why you and Pete insist on working against Marcus, but he would never hurt anyone."

Although Marcus and Lucia's relationship was currently on break, she was still his wife. Her tone was filled with firmness and certainty. She would not allow anyone to slander her family.

I didn't answer her. Instead, I gently pulled down my collar, showing her the glaring scar. Sometimes actions could be much louder than words.

In truth, the scar around my neck had faded considerably. However, I had purposely contoured the scar to make it look much more apparent before leaving the house.

I looked down and slowly readjusted my collar. Just as I was about to explain the whole story to Lucia, I heard the sound of a sports car roaring behind me.

Marcus rushed over and yanked me roughly. "Ariana, what the fuck did you tell my wife?"

Everyone present, including me, did not expect that Marcus would lay his hands on me.

His grip on my hand was extremely strong. His hands were also trembling, almost as if he was afraid that

I would ruin the fragile relationship he had with Lucia.

In truth, I did not need to say anything. His actions were more than enough to prove everything.

A voice that did not belong to me, shouted out loud, "Let go of her!"

Nicholas' car hadn't even stopped fully when he opened his car and got down. I turned around, just in time to see Nicholas jumping out of his car and rushing toward me. That was dangerous! In my mind, Nicholas had always been calm and collected. He rarely panicked, let alone run.

Nicholas quickly grabbed Marcus by the wrist. I don't know how much strength he had put into it, but I watched as Marcus loosened his grip unnaturally.

Almost immediately, Nicholas pulled me into his embrace. He lowered his head and asked, "Did he do anything to you?"

Karen's eyes widened in disbelief. "N-Nick, you and Ariana-

Nicholas said, "We ran into Mr. Shelman yesterday and heard about your family's situation. My wife was kind enough to visit your family. Who knew she would be treated with such indignance?" The gate of the Goodwin's residence finally swung open. Karen seemed to have changed into a

completely different person as she enthusiastically invited us into her home.

Nicholas' expression was cold. He ignored her and turned to Marcus impassively. "This is the last time. You know what I'm talking about."
