Chapter 0322
I faked my surprise as I stepped up and waved at Harry warmly. Harry's body tensed up a little when he saw me, but I turned a blind eye to it.
I gave him a small hug, just like how I usually would when I was young, before tactfully standing back behind Nicholas. My actions were smooth and flawless, while my gaze was pure and innocent.
It was almost as if Pete and I were purely friends like there was nothing more than friendship between us.
When I grabbed Nicholas' arm and looked at him, I realized the amusement on his expression had faded as he looked at me coldly.
His gaze was cunning and collected like a poisonous snake, hiding all his emotions behind.
I smiled at him and said, "Harry has always treated me well since I was young. Why don't we treat Harry to a meal? Is that alright with you?"
Nicholas looked at me coldly, no longer hiding his dissatisfaction. At that moment, his gaze felt like a sharp knife stabbing into my body.
Silas noticed that there was something wrong between Nicholas and I. So, he chimed in and said, "Mr. Shelman and I have just finished our discussion. Since that's the case, then I won't disturb your small reunion." "Honey, could you take care of Harry for me? I'll walk Mr. Harmon out on Harry's behalf."
Harry did not bring a secretary with him and needed someone to walk Silas out. Hence, my proposition was neither abrupt nor out of place.
I didn't know if it was because I had rubbed his arm gently, or if it was because I had called him "Honey", but Nicholas' cold expression had warmed slightly.
He gently patted my hands and said somewhat gently, "Come back quickly. You just need to walk him to the restaurant's door."
Although he was talking to me, his gaze was fixed on Silas. He didn't want me to go too far, nor did he want me to be alone with Silas.
I felt nervous, and I couldn't help but shiver when I felt the wind blow against me.
"Are you sure that's fine?" Silas asked.
I nodded as I was curious as to what he had just discussed with Harry. I also wanted to know how Pete was currently doing.
Silas understood and spoke up before I could ask him anything. "The situation is slightly more complicated than I had originally thought. Do you know that Marcus' wife, Lucia Goodwin, is pregnant?" "I t-think I've heard someone mention it before."
"When everything went down in Marcus' company, Marcus and Lucia had been home.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
"When his secretary visited his home to inform him about the situation, Lucia had overheard everything. She was so worked up that she lost the baby.
"Normally, it would not have escalated into such a serious manner considering that it's a family issue. However, Lucia's family is inserting themselves into the mix as they want an explanation from Pete. "They're threatening to have Lucia divorce Marcus if they're not happy with the results. Almost everyone knows how much Marcus loves Lucia. He would never agree to a divorce.
"Harry is currently holding Pete on a tight leash. It's his punishment, just as it is his protection."
I looked at Silas and smiled stiffly. "I didn't know about all of this. Well, it helps things considering that I've brought Nicholas with me?"
Silas massaged his temples and said, "It might help, but things would be much riskier for you."
He sighed and continued, "I don't think my friendship with Pete would survive If he knew I've convinced you to go to Nicholas for help."
"There won't be any point being friends with him if he remains locked up either."
"Alright, you're right. I believe in Nicholas' abilities.
"To my knowledge, the Goodwins have been negotiating with the government for an official tourism project. I believe Nicholas would be able to help them."
