Pete was unusually quiet, and I drifted off into a slumber as well. When I opened my eyes again, I was greeted by the vast sea and a sky of dazzling stars.

I popped my head out of the convertible and lay in the car. The next moment, brilliant fireworks exploded in the night sky, their deafening sounds resembling my heartbeat.

I couldn't say that I was someone who always followed through on promises. I had said many things in my life and made numerous promises.
