Chapter 20
Chapter 20
“You heard me right, Kathie. Stop making me repeat myself.”
“I heard. But what the hell, Mom?”
“What do you mean by that?” Beatrice frowned at her daughter.
“I already told you he would be attending the wedding.” NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
“Yes. But what does that have to do with him staying in our home?”
“Come on, stop being ridiculous. Where do you want him to stay? At the hotel? Rent an apartment?”
“Definitely! Why not?”
“Come off it, Katherine. There are lots of rooms in this house. I’m literally the only one staying in my wing. Why let him waste those monies on getting a hotel? Besides, it’s not as if you’ve not lived with him before so I see no wrong in letting him stay here?”
“You should have said it directly that you wanna house him so you could fuck him.”
“Why are you filled with hatred and bitterness when it comes to Oliver and his father?”
Katherine rolled her eyes.
“It’s not like you both haven’t fucked before so I don’t know what the problem is.”
“Mom!” Kathie glared at her.
“Girl, I thought we’d settled this. Is there a trauma behind all of these?” Beatrice couldn’t help but ask because She was getting irritated.
“Fine. It’s your home. Do whatever the hell you want!!!”
She was about to storm out of the balcony when her mother stopped her.
“What again, mom?”
“What the hell has come over you lately? Is there anything you aren’t telling me?”
“Oh please, stop acting like you care. It fucking irritates me.”
“That’s the point. Once I give you a reaction, you take it for granted.”
“I don’t need your pity, mom. You’ve made your decision so let it be.”
Beatrice rolled her eyes at her daughter. “You make a big deal out of everything,”
“I can’t wait for next week to be over so I can finally have some peace.” Katherine stormed out of her mother’s sight, leaving Beatrice very confused.
Upon getting to her room and gently shutting the door behind her, Kathie noticed her daughter was missing from the bed.
“Sophie,” She called not too loud as She made her way to the bathroom to avoid waking her brothers who were still fast asleep.
“Sophie,” She called again as She opened the bathroom door. She sighed in relief when she saw her daughter washing her hands.
“Mama.” She said with a sleepy voice as she wiped her hands with a towel.
Once She was done, Katherine kissed her daughter’s forehead and picked her up in her arms after which she exited the bathroom.
“I saw someone in my dream.” She whispered with her head resting on her mother’s shoulder.
“Someone?” Kathie asked. She was on her way to the bed but changed her mind as she approached the resting chair on the other side of the room.
“I’ve never seen him before.” She said in a drowsy voice.
Katherine took a seat and then placed her daughter on her lap in a cuddling way.
“A stranger?” She asked, making Sophie open her eyes.
“I’ve not seen him before but he looked friendly.”
“He carried me in his arms.”
Katherine frowned. No matter how silly her children’s dreams were, She was always there to listen to them.”
“Sammy called him Daddy.”
Katherine’s heart started beating faster.
“He kissed my forehead too. Just like the way you did in the bathroom.”
Kathie sighed internally. She knew very well that their birth father was never a romantic man and honestly, it was so hard to picture him giving the triplets forehead kisses because she could promise with everything that she had in her that it would never happen.
“I was so happy in the dream.” The little girl said, looking at her mother expectantly for a response.
“Do you think Daddy will come to visit us soon?” She said with pleading eyes.
“Honey, I thought we’d talked about this.” She said sternly.
“But I want my Daddy!” She whined, tears already welling up in her eyes.
“Sophie.....” Kathie tried to calm her daughter since it was something they’d discussed and settled.
“But It’s not fair. I want Daddy too. Kiki and Ari’s Dad bring them to school. He plays with them too. Take us to Daddy. Please, mommy.” At this point, tears were already rolling down her cheeks.
Katherine was mentally exhausted. She was holding back tears too.
“Sweetheart, you know your Dad is very far away.”
“Let’s go find him, mama.”
Katherine sighed for the 100th time, using the gesture as a means to hold back her tears and blaming herself in her head for coming out clean to her children. She felt She should have probably told them that their dad passed away long ago.
“I don’t know where he is, baby. We parted long ago before I even knew I was pregnant with you all.”
“Then we have to find him. He must be so lonely.” She cried even harder in her mother’s chest.
Katherine couldn’t help rolling her eyes at her daughter’s statement. ‘lonely indeed’ She said in her head. The only reason she hadn’t told their father about their existence was because of rejection. She knew he would deny and reject them so there was no point in informing him.
“Darling, trust me your Daddy can never be lonely. I promise you that he is happy wherever he is and he would want you to be happy too so please stop crying, honey.”
Sophie cried even harder.
“Stop this Sophie, you’re going to wake your brothers.”
“But I want to see Daddy.” Katherine stared at her daughter in disbelief wondering where the sudden urge for her Dad was coming from. She had never seen her daughter behave this way.
“You’re not being nice, Sophie.” She said, wiping away her daughter’s tears with her thumb. But the more she wiped them, the more the tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Baby, we’ve got Lewis. I will be getting married to him in a few months. Lewis is a good man. If only you give him a chance.”
‘I don’t want Lewis. I want my Daddy.”
“I’ve heard you, baby. I’ll get help to locate him.”
The little girl stopped crying immediately. She looked her mother in the eyes. “Promise?”
Katherine Peters loved that her children were smart but sometimes she dreaded the fact that they were too wise for their age.
“I will try my best, baby.” She assured her little pumpkin.
“You promise?” She asked again.
“I will work on it,” Kathie said with finality. “It’s too late for you to be awake. Let’s get you to bed.”
Katherine cuddled her baby girl closer to her. She placed a kiss on her cheek after which she gently played with her daughter’s hair.
She continued to stroke the little girl’s hair, thinking about what she was going to do.
