too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian)

Chapter 531

Moses appeared sincere, and his tone carried no trace of pretense.

But Lila still refused. "Sorry, I'm really busy. I can't take on any more artists."

He was a member of the Moore family. It was best to avoid getting involved with

him.

Amelia chimed in, "Exactly! She can't take on more artists. More importantly, Magi

Pictures has standards. You don't even pass the background check requirement."

Michael nodded in agreement. "Besides, she's already managing three... no,

counting me, four people. Even having kids doesn't happen this fast. Just stop

dreaming."

Lila nearly choked at his words. What kind of nonsense was that?

But Moses wasn't discouraged. "That's fine. Just because you won't take me now

doesn't mean you won't in the future. I have nothing else to do. Can I at least be

an intern in your production team?"

Lila declined again. "We're not hiring any more interns."

Moses studied her for a moment. "Will you be my manager if I can get into Magi

Pictures?"

"Plenty of agents at Magi Pictures are more experienced than me. The company

assigns managers to artists. That's not something I control," Lila said.

Moses nodded at her calm response. "Then I won't disturb you any further, Lila.

"Don't overthink it. The reason I sought you out is simply that I admire you. I don't

want Dennis to keep affecting my life. Morgan Group is the safest place for me.

"Sorry for the trouble today. I'll find you again once I join Magi Pictures. See you

around."

He nodded, looking as if he genuinely felt apologetic.

Once he left, Amelia noticed Lila staring in his direction and immediately called

her back to reality. "Lila, don't fall for it."

Lila sat back down. "I won't. I don't believe a single word he said."

"What makes you say that?" Amelia was curious.

Lila thought for a moment. "His mother was willing to be Dennis' mistress, which

suggests she probably came from an ordinary background. And since Moses

mentioned that he was bullied for being an illegitimate child, doesn't that imply

that Dennis didn't really care about him or his mother?"

"So is he here looking for protection? His whole story seems to be about how he's

powerless and broke, right?" Amelia hummed.

The three of them rested their chins on their hands, deep in thought.

Amelia nodded. "But did you see his outfit? That's not something an averagenoveldrama

person can afford."

Michael reached his conclusion. "His words and actions don't match. He doesn't

seem trustworthy."

With that, their conversation ended, and it was time to get back to work.

Amelia swung her legs idly, watching them work with no intention of leaving.

Since there was a night shoot, she started feeling drowsy and decided to head

back to her place early.

Before leaving, she winked at Lila. "Don't stay out too late. Come back and sleep

with me."

Her words drew curious glances from the staff nearby.

Michael popped his head out from

behind. "If I didn't know you had a

husband and she had Vince, I'd start

suspecting something between you

two."

Lila pressed a hand to her forehead. "Enough with the nonsense. And spit out that

lollipop right now!"

Michael groaned. "Seriously? I

understand I need muscles since I'm

playing a tough guy role. But

controlling my diet? That's too

much. It's just one candy."

Lila glared at him. "I warned you I'll have someone increase your training if I catch

you snacking again!"

Michael pointed at someone nearby. "It was Matthew who bought it for me!"

Matthew looked up and said flatly, "I didn't."

Michael scowled and crunched down on the candy in frustration. The loud crack

made Lila's eyes widen. "Michael!"

The sharp tone startled him. He

quickly fished out a tissue and spit

the candy into it. "It's just one piece

of candy! Fine, I won't eat it. But why

are you acting like my agent being

all bossy?"

He turned around to find a trash can, mumbling under his breath, "How wasteful!

None of you understand the value of frugality!"

Meanwhile, Amelia arrived back at the hotel. Since Lila's room was a suite, she

used her spare key card to enter, planning to sleep there.

But as soon as she opened the door, she froze. Sitting across from a laptop,

working, was Kieran.

Kieran assumed it was Lila returning and stood up, But a rare look of confusion

crossed his face when he saw Amelia.
