Chapter 3 – The Fourth Clan
Sera pressed the scarf against her neck, time had suddenly cooled. The village outside the Forest was empty, there was no living soul in the place but Sera.
There was nothing to do but walk. There were old newspapers stuck in the walls talking about a massacre. However, they were faded and the light of the lantern was not strong enough to illuminate to the point that Sera continued reading.
She continued to walk, even though strange noises made her tremble with fear. But as she looked around, there was no one.
It had been a few hours, how many she did not know, however, the sun was already rising and Sera was far from home, which was a relief.
With the day coming, Sera was finally able to see a friendlier spot ahead. It looked like a city after a big bridge that connected the abandoned village to it.
Already at the end of the bridge, Sera arrived in the city. It was not a big place, but it was busy.
There were cars from one side to the other, which made the girl cover her ears for the lack of habit with the noise.
Also, there were several shops illuminated with colored lights that sold various things, from food to clothes and trinkets.
However, something caught Sera’s attention. A small coffee maker called Mystic Coffee, a place that looked cozy and cute with a dark blue facade with golden stars.
Sera sat in the comfortable blue armchair and first picked up a menu. She pointed to a simple cappuccino and paid an amount she couldn’t tell if it was fair or not. The money the old man kept had been useful after all.
While savoring her drink, Sera took the opportunity to ask for information, writing down on the paper where the Wolf Paws school was and how to get there.
The attendant responded with a pity smile upon realizing that Sera really could not speak.
The young wolf did not feel comfortable with the girl’s expression, they all looked at her the same way when they learned of her condition?
She thanked with a smile and headed towards the train as she had been informed by the attendant.
The station was not far away. Sera walked hurriedly and excited because it finally seemed that life would take a different direction. Until everything falls apart in a few seconds, not everything, just her and someone else.
“Hey! Don’t look where you’re going, weirdo? Who wears a scarf in this heat?”
Sera hurried to write in his notebook:
“I’m sorry. I didn’t see you.”
Yellow, arrogant eyes looked at her angrily. The young man stood up unaided, wiping the dark blue pants of the uniform. A strange force caused Sera’s attention to remain fixed on him.
“Hey, are you okay? It was a bad fall.”
A man of slender body came to Sera with a gallant smile, reaching out his hand. She could see the wolf symbol with a blue paw in the background in his dark blue jacket that covered the white shirt when he shook his hand.
“I do not need your help, Aurelius.” – Said the boy who bumped into her with an angry voice.
“I’m asking the beautiful girl, Ramesses. Obviously I wasn’t talking to a brat like you.” – Aurelius replied.
“The girl doesn’t seem to want to talk. She looks like a rookie and has to get on the train. And besides, for all I know, Joshua, you already have your own unfinished business.”
Who spoke the last sentence, was an elegant woman with curly hair and a calm voice that could calm even the most ferocious animal:
“Don’t be scared of silly boys, rookie. My name is Nayssa Obiyoe, I’m a 2-year-old from lupine magic college. I can help you if I need to.” – She said extending his bony hand to Sera.
“Co-excuses.” – A soft voice said. The last person was a girl with a gentle, fluffy smile, with freckles on her slightly full, rosy cheeks.
She approached them with a ashamed expression. Sera noticed how her full bust left her shirt slightly open when she walked awkwardly.
“I must receive Sera Abrams and take her to the train.”
“Who?” She thought for a moment. A lot was happening at the same time. Until she realized it was herself, only with her mother’s last name.
Sera raised her hand and the gentle smiling girl approached.
“Pleasure, I’m Kyria Waish, school monitor Wolf Paws. Welcome to school, I’ll be your guide there.”
“Thank you, Kyria. I’m Sera, nice to meet you.” – She wrote.
Sera looked at the new acquaintances coming in as she sat in the first available wagon with Kyria.
“They attract attention, don’t they?” – Kyria said. ” They are the firstborn of the great clans, so nobody cares much about what they do.”
Curious, Sera asked, writing in her notebook:
“What clans are there?”
“We have 3 main clans that rule the world, there was a 4 ish, but he was decimated”
Upon hearing this, Sera felt the hairs of her arms shiver.
“The clans are: Aurelius, the warriors. Cherish strength and military skills above all. His firstborn is Joshua Aurelius, someone who is gallant. It’s his first year at WolfPaws, they say he had some bullshit with his second family.”
“A quarrel? What kind?” – Sera wrote, wanting to know more.
Kyria stopped for a few seconds, trying to remember the details.
“A fight over something he did a few years ago for the Obiyoe, I don’t know what it was.” – Her voice trembled at the last part. ” But I know you don’t like each other.”
Noticing Sera’s attention to her plants, she continued:
“The Obiyoe are artisans, responsible for weapons and magical instruments, including medicinal. They are very rich and recognized. The eldest daughter, Nayssa is called the lonely Maiden, for not having an omega yet. She has rejected all marriages to date.”
Sera vaguely remembered about the hierarchy of wolves. There were the alphas, the leaders and future leaders of each pack. Some were already born with Mother’s blessing to be alpha, others became.
There were also the omega, the partners of the alphas and scarce, few had this blessing. They were the most apt to marry noble alphas.
And of course, Blessings that used to be the most common and least in demand.
“Are all the firstborn of the clans alphas?” – Sera asked.
Kyria confirmed.
“Yeah. That’s why they’re so in demand.”Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Ramesses is also an alpha?”
Right after she asked, she regretted it. Of course she could feel only by the energy he emanated.
“Karim? Yes, he’s an alpha. As cranky as possible.”
Sera laughed at that comment and paid attention to Kyria’s next line.
“He is of the last family, the Ramesses. They are the spies and elite soldiers stronger than the Aurelius. They do the “dirty work”, so to speak.”
At that moment, Kyria approached Sera’s ear to whisper something.
“They say it was they who decimated the last clan.”
Sera looked at her with an unknown expression, wanting to know more.
“Cohen.” – Upon hearing that name, Sera trembled.
“The Cohens were decimated for treason by the Ramesses”
That last name was her father’s, that is, yours. She remembered the arrogant expression of Karim Ramesses. Sera thought he was free from her past. But now he was getting closer and more dangerous.
