The Unwilling CEO’s Love Game

Chapter 126

Chapter 126

Melvin was head over heels for Jocelyn, the kind of longing that haunted every waking moment and infiltrated dreams.

For over three years, he had grown accustomed to her company.

The mere thought of her being intimate with another man set his heart ablaze. As if gasoline was poured over dry kindling, his jealousy flared up the more he tried to quell it.

His sister once said it was because Jocelyn had become a part of him, intertwined with his very being. Her leaving for another was like forcibly ripping a bone from his body, a wound that could never heal.

Deep down, Melvin knew he couldn’t bear to see her in the arms of another man.

At that moment. Jocelyn didn’t know if she was more angry or hurt. She shoved Melvin away violently, spitting on the ground and wiping her lips vigorously.

She glared at him with fury and pain. “Are you insane? Can’t you just stop messing with my life? I’m done playing these games with you,

done!*

Ursula, who had been watching from a distance, was startled by Jocelyn’s heart-wrenching scream.

Tears threatened to fall from Jocelyn’s eyes as she jabbed a finger at Melvin and accused, “What’s the problem with you? It’s not like I didn’t give you a chance. I asked if you wanted to marry me, if you wanted to settle down, and you said no! If you don’t want to marry me, why can’t you let someone else have me? Why are you so selfish? If you can’t offer me a future, why disrupt my life?”

Jocelyn couldn’t hold back the tears any longer. They flowed like a torrential rain as she slowly bent over, crouching down and crying

into her hands.

Ursula was concerned and was about to approach when she saw Melvin crouch beside Jocelyn and gently enfold her in his arms.

From her vantage point, Ursula could feel the love between them. She never understood why Jocelyn broke up with Melvin. It was clear they were both still in love. Such a breakup was not only torturous for them but also deeply unfair to the new people in their lives.

“Stop crying, Melvin murmured, holding Jocelyn close and patting her back. His voice was hoarse, and his eyes revealed his inner turmoil. Her sobs seemed to push him toward a significant decision. “If you really want to get married, I…”

“Hamson!” Ursula’s urgent call snapped Melvin out of the moment, just as Harrison approached with a thunderous scowl.

Melvin had barely stood up when Harrison’s fist hit his face.

The punch landed solidly, filling Melvin’s mouth with the taste of blood. He touched his lip, his fingers coming away red

Ursula quickly pulled Jocelyn aside to safety.

Through her tears, Jocelyn didn’t immediately realize that it was Harrison who had arrived, thinking it might be a colleague of hers.

But as she saw Harrison and Melvin exchanging blows, her mind cleared. Rushing over, she pleaded, “Stop, both of you!”

Harrison, driven by a fury long repressed, was not about to ease up after being provoked

He was intent on teaching Melvin a lesson, showing that his patience had limits

As Hamison’s fists pummeled Melvin, pinning him against a wall, Melvin seemed to deflate, offering no resistance like a beaten man.

Jocelyn was in a hurry as she rushed over to Harrison and pulled him down, “Stop!”

Harrison stared at the man leaning against the wall, whose eyes and mouth were bruised because of his fists. He pointed at Melvin, “I’ve been putting up with you for a long time. She’s my girlfriend now, don’t blame me if you harass her again

Melvin wiped the comers of his mouth; the backs of his hands were covered in blood. He panted heavily and suddenly smiled.

Harrison’s brow furrowed at his reaction. He really was insane!

Suddenly, Melvin called out to Jocelyn, “Jocelyn, I’m in pain…, just after the words left his mouth, his whole body collapsed softly on the ground.

Jocelyn was so scared that her face turned pale immediately. She let go of Harrison and half knelt on the ground to pat Melvin’s shoulder, “Melvin, wake up! Melvin, don’t scare me.”

Jocelyn’s worried and anxious tone made Ursula frown as she listened

Ursula glanced over at Harrison, who was clenching his fists, his eyes under his lenses harboring loss.

Hanison clenched his reddened fists, quickly adjusting the emotions he had just felt in his anger. Once he had calmed down, he walked over and tried to pull Jocelyn to her feet. “Don’t worry, he’s fine.”

was so preoccupied with Melvin’s injuries that she suddenly yelled at Harrison, “Why did you hit him so hard? He couldn’t even hack, why didn’t you stop? Did you really have to kill him to make it count?”

nd hovered mid air in that moment, he understood the meaning behind Melvins smug smile.

it appeared that Melvin had lost the fight, but actually Harrison was the loser in winning Jocelyn’s heart.

“Don’t take it to heart,” Ursula said, trying to mediate as Jocelyn railed against Harrison.

It was clear that Hamson had won the fight but lost Jocelyn’s heart. Ursula felt a pang of sympathy for Harrison.

But this confrontation had made it clear to everyone where this tangled relationship stood

Jocelyn called Preston to deal with his uncle.

When Preston heard his uncle was injured, he rushed over with his mom, Yasmine, Zephyr and Yannick.

Upon arrival, Zephyr understood the situation and swung at Harrson.

“What are you doing?” Jocelyn’s quick reaction stopped Zephyr’s punch.

She stood firm in front of Harrison, her gaze sharp as she confronted Zephyr, “That’s enough.”

Zephyr’s fists clenched, a storm brewing in his eyes. It was Yasmine who laid a calming hand on his arm. “You can’t hit him, Zephyr. If anything, you owe him thanks”

Thank him? Zephyr was incredulous “Yasmine, he beat Melvin to a pulp. How do you expect me to thank him for that?”

Yasmine shot him a disdainful look, then turned to Preston. “Help Yannick get your uncle into the car. This is nothing but a sideshow”

Preston glanced at Jocelyn before he moved to help. As he drew closer and saw the injuries on Melvin’s face, his brow furrowed. He whispered to Yannick, “How did Uncle Melvin get so banged up? I thought he was tough. Looking so weak in front of Jocelyn, that’s just gonna cramp his style”

Yannick chuckled softly. “You don’t get it now. But one day when you’re older, you’ll understand why he looks so ‘weak’ today”

Preston’s puzzled look lingered, but Yannick offered no further explanation.

Once Melvin was settled in the car, Yasmine noticed Jocelyn’s gaze following them. “You coming along?”

Jocelyn’s eyes returned to the present. After a moment’s thought, she shook her head, “No.”

“Alright then, I’ll take him to the hospital.” Yasmine didn’t push. She tugged at Zephyr, who was still eyeing Harrison with hostility, “No more trouble. Let’s go.”

After their car pulled away, Ursula sensed it was her cue to exit the scene as well.

Pointing towards the karaoke bar, she said, “I think I left something back in the booth. I’ll go grab it. Don’t wait up for me, bye.”

Once Ursula had left, the chaos of the night seemed to settle. Jocelyn’s mind cleared considerably.

She looked at Harrison uneasily, catching the hurt in his eyes, the kind of hurt that came from more than just physical pain.

Swallowing hard, Jocelyn noticed Harrison’s tightly clenched fists.

Now she noticed that his lips were split too.

‘Does it hurt?” she asked, nodding towards his mouth.

“Yeah,” Harrison’s response was quick and firm. He pointed to his heart, “But here, it hurts even more.”

Jocelyn’s gaze fell. She twisted her fingers in self-reproach. I’m sorry.”

“Sorry for what? Sorry for defending him and questioning why I had to go hard on him? Or are you sorry because you still have feelings

for him? Harrison’s eyes behind his glasses held the chill and disappointment she had never seen before.
