she was suspicious of him.

for dinner and reminisce about the past then.”
“Do you mean reminisce about the past of my leg being broken by you?”
“It’s up to you whether to come or not.”
After saying that, Cecilia hung up the phone.
She made the call mainly to test Zachary and see if he was deliberately approaching her.
If he was, he would definitely show up that evening.
She went to the kitchen, took out the food from the fridge, and prepared for dinner.

Seeing Cecilia and Bruce busy cooking in the kitchen, she bellowed, “Ceci, your arm is hurt. Stop
exhausting yourself and come out now.”
Cecilia moved her arm freely and said with a smile, “Grandma Elaine, I’m fine. it’s just a superficial
wound. I want to make a meal for you.”
“Wait until you recover. I’m not in a hurry to eat your meal.”
Elaine went forward and dragged Cecilia.
Cecilia dodged her hand. “Not only for you, Grandma Elaine, but also for an old friend.”
“Don’t you try to fool me. You have no friends in Acocester.”
“Is Zachary my friend?”
Elaine’s hand froze in the air when she heard that. “Did you invite Zachary over for dinner? Did he
agree?”
“I invited him, but he didn’t respond. He should be coming. After all, he’s afraid that I will break his leg
again.”
Speaking of that, Elaine reminded in a deep voice, “Ceci, don’t joke about it. You went too far back
then.”
She had defended Cecilia at that time because the latter had just come to the Shaw residence and felt

Zachary over to make amends. Leave the dinner to me and go out with Bruce.”
After saying that, she pushed Elaine and Bruce out of the kitchen.

Bruce took off his apron and helped Elaine to sit on the couch.

After Bruce left, Elaine sat upright on the couch and thought of Charlie.
Because Zachary and Charlie were about the same age, they were good playmates when they were
children.
Meanwhile, Zachary was changing clothes in his hotel room.
His shapely figure was wrapped in a decent suit. Anyone could tell it was a successful person from the
back.
Nonetheless, there was a face with extensive scald burns in the mirror. The uneven skin was covered

After packing up, Zachary took the gifts he had bought earlier and set off for the Shaw residence.

He put down the gifts and fished out his phone from his pocket to answer it. “What’s the matter?”
A voice speaking broken Clusian rang out from the other end of the line. “Mr. Shaw, you can’t go to the
Shaw residence.”
The Shaw residence was not a place where the organization could intrude, and things could easily go
wrong.
After all, their new leader came from the Shaw family.
The person who answered the call was not Zachary but Charlie.

Since he became the organization’s leader four years ago, he had been using the identity of “Zachary”
for his missions.
Charlie met Zachary five years ago.
Most of what Charlie had told Bruce about the past was true.
After Zachary was abducted by the human trafficker, his face was not disfigured, but his legs were
broken.
When the human trafficker forced him to be a beggar, he resisted with all his might and cracked his
head. He had not only lost his memory but also became a fool.
Charlie accidentally bumped into Zachary and recognized him from the crescent–shaped scar at the
end of his eyes.
At that time, Zachary had already been abandoned by the human trafficker and curled up begging
under the overpass with a grubby look. He suffered from multiple organ failure and would not be able to
survive for long.
Even though he had received the best treatment and recovered his memory, he did not survive the
following winter.
Charlie secretly avenged Zachary and destroyed the human trafficker’s organization. Then, he took
over Zachary’s identity.
After recalling those memories, he told John on the other end of the line. “I’ll get my revenge soon. No
one can stop me.”
Having said that, he hung up the phone.
John looked at the four people sitting on the couch and asked nervously, “Charlie is not listening. Shall
we get rid of him?”
A man in military uniform took a drag of his cigar and exhaled a mouthful of smoke at John. “If we get
rid of him, who will capture Cecilia and drag the Shaw family into the mess? We’ve implanted a
listening chip in his body. There’s nothing to worry about.”
A man from Muprary with stubble on his chin swirled the wine glass in his hand and smiled intriguingly.
“We have observed Charlie for so many years. He truly hates the Shaw residence. We can’t deny his
efforts over these years just because he wants to go to the Shaw residence.”
“That’s right. He succeeded in approaching Cecilia with Zachary’s identity. We’re so close to the
success of the plan and can’t give up now.”
“Even if we make a wrong bet, it won’t hurt at all. The core secret of the organization is still in our
hands, after all.”

The quartet chimed in one another and quickly decided to leave Charlie alone and only looked at the
result he would bring.
John replied respectfully, “Yes, I’ll keep following up with Charlie for the updates.”
