The True Lady Strikes Back novel (Cecilia and Christopher)

Chapter 132

Chapter 132

The fire within the furnace flickered as it reflected in the man’s eyes, yet it failed to thaw the ice of his

murderous intent.

He removed his blood–soaked blue gown, rubber gloves, and shoe covers, disposing of them within

the furnace’s fiery abyss to obliterate any trace of evidence.

His outer shirt and casual pants followed suit, consumed by the same voracious flames, revealing the

sporty T–shirt and shorts concealed beneath. Swiftly, he transitioned into a fresh attire and seamlessly

departed the scene.

Upon successfully evading the surveillance cameras, the man swiftly reached the corner of the

inpatient department. Just as he did, Cecilia hurried into the furnace room.

Spotting her presence, a delighted smile crept across the man’s face, concealed beneath his mask.

“8374, the capture mission we left unfinished three years ago has been officially reinstated.”

Cecilia bore the serial number 8374 in the Peacekeeping Forces.

With those words softly uttered, the man departed the scene.

Cecilia proved elusive, demanding a meticulous strategy from him.

He resolved never to permit failure to stain his efforts anew.

Meanwhile, Cecilia was standing before the furnace. Her eyes were fixed on the bloodstains adorning

the floor, and her heart skipped a beat in response.

The furnace door stood ajar, revealing a cluster of darkened blocks within.

The lingering aroma of barbecue wafting through the air allowed her to piece together the grim truth

behind those

ominous black blocks.

Due to the human body’s high water content and the furnace’s failure to attain the necessary cremation

temperature, Juliana could not be incinerated immediately.

Cecilia promptly shut down the furnace, initiated the fire extinguishing protocol, and swiftly contacted

the police. Within the hospital, there were police who were assigned to safeguard Juliana.

The duo had been diligently searching for Juliana since her inexplicable disappearance from the

emergency room. Upon receiving the alert about the furnace room incident, they promptly arrived at the

scene.

The pungent blend of blood and charred remains filled the air, evoking a sense of revulsion.

While one of the police officers stood guard at the scene, the other approached Cecilia, questioning

her, “What happened here?”

His tone was accusatory, suggesting he viewed Cecilia as a potential suspect.

Cecilia, however, had no inclination to engage with the police. Her gaze remained fixed on the ominous

furnace, and it was cold.

“Kindly cooperate with the police investigation.”

The police’s tone grew stern when he spoke that sentence.

“It is the police’s duty to investigate the case thoroughly. The true events that unfolded here cannot be

determined solely based on my words.”

The brutality of Juliana’s murder left Cecilia convinced that the perpetrator had to be the person she

had been relentlessly searching for.

Fueled by that conviction, Cecilia hurriedly exited the furnace

room while the bodyguards who were assigned to protect her trailed closely behind.

The police attempted to halt their departure but failed to react promptly, Ultimately, they prioritized

reporting the incident in the furnace room to their superiors and allowed the crime scene investigation

team to gather evidence.

Meanwhile, Cecilia was regarded as a significant suspect, leading to her restriction from leaving

Quilton.

Unaware of her newfound status as a suspect, Cecilia frantically searched for anyone suspicious

around the area.

As for the bodyguards, they followed her around in confusion.

“Ms, Yancey, what are you looking for? Do you need our assistance?”

Exhausted from her frantic search, Cecilia gasped for breath. Upon hearing the bodyguard’s voice, she

halted and scanned her surroundings.

Convinced that Juliana’s killer was the mastermind, she felt certain that they must be observing her

from the shadows.

However, after meticulously checking all the conceivable hiding spots, the elusive figure remained

elusive.

“It seems that the killer has left!” she concluded silently.

She abandoned her pursuit of the killer and made her way back to the furnace room to meet

Christopher.

By then, the area had been sealed off, permitting only the police to enter.

Fearing the potential tarnish to the hospital’s reputation due to the gruesome death, the hospital swiftly

shut down the logistics building.

Christopher was engaged in conversation with the police presently.

When Cecilia returned to the scene, he had already shared all

the information he possessed,

The authorities gleaned additional details from Cecilia before presenting her with her recorded

statement for her signature.

“Ms. Yancey, if you happen upon any other clues, kindly inform the police promptly,” said the police

officer,

Cecilia nodded and asked, “Is the deceased Juliana?”

“We’re operating on a tight schedule, Currently, our only lead is the blood type test result, indicating a

rare Rh–negative blood type.”

In other words, the deceased was highly likely to be Juliana, “Thank you for informing me. If there are

any updates on the

case…”

Before she could conclude her sentence, the police declined her request.

“Apologies, but the investigation is confidential. We are unable to disclose any details at this time.”

“You will share the update with me eventually.”

After uttering those words, Cecilia left the hospital with Christopher.

Once inside the car, she lowered her voice and confided, “The killer is likely the mastermind from three

years ago.”

Regrettably, she arrived a little late and missed the opportunity

to encounter the man.

Christopher understood that the car was not the ideal setting. for that conversation. He instructed the

driver to take them back to Emerald Mansion.

Upon their arrival, they headed straight to the bedroom. “Ceci, you can speak freely here. We are safe

in this place. There’s no chance of it being bugged or under surveillance.” Cecilia sat on the couch and

had her fists tightly clenched.

“It must be him!”

However, the “him” she was referring to wasn’t an individual but an organization.

That conclusion arose from the understanding that no single individual possessed the capability to

eliminate her entire team alone.

Christopher gently held Cecilia’s cold hand and said, “Ceci, please, try to calm down. We will find him

together!”

for them to leave behind traces.

After all, witnesses were plentiful at the hospital!

Cecilia nodded in response to Christopher’s assurance and said, “Let me make a call first.”

“Okay. I’ll head to the study to inspect the hospital’s

surveillance footage. Once you’ve made the call, join me there,” Christopher said.

With that, he sensibly exited the bedroom.

Cecilia promptly dialed Evan’s number.

It was already two o’clock in the morning at his location.

Evan, who had been occupied throughout the day, had just managed to rest briefly when the phone

rang.

Despite that, he awoke abruptly at the sound of the familiar ringtone. He swiftly rose from his bed to

answer Cecilia’s call.

“Ceci, is something wrong? Why are you calling at this hour?”

Evan’s voice, tinged with concern, made Cecilia realize that it was early morning in his time zone.

She apologized. “Evan, I’m sorry. Did I wake you up?”

“Don’t worry about it. If you hadn’t been in trouble, you

wouldn’t have called me so hastily. Tell me–what’s the matter?”

“Evan, there’s a possibility that the mastermind has resurfaced.”

Upon hearing that, anxiety etched its lines across Evan’s handsome face.

“Ceci, did you engage in a confrontation with him? Has any harm come your way? Are you injured?”

Cecilia, now composed, reassured him, “I didn’t encounter him. He has brutally killed Juliana.”

Evan recognized Juliana’s name, his initial concern giving way to astonishment.

“Juliana is your enemy. Why would he target her?”

“He must have obtained information about me from Juliana and silenced her.”

Cecilia then briefly described the grisly fate Juliana had met–being dismembered and cast into a

furnace.

After that, she added, “Of course, it’s just my speculation that the suspect might be the mastermind.

There’s no concrete evidence.”

Despite Cecilia’s words, Evan couldn’t shake the conviction that there was no doubt the killer was the

mastermind.

While the world harbored its share of cruelty, the figure who had emerged in Cecilia’s vicinity was

unmistakably the same mastermind from three years ago.

In a world where coincidences were rare, Evan firmly believed that the mastermind had resurfaced.

“Ceci, what do you need me to do?”

He understood that Cecilia hadn’t simply called him to share the news.

Cecilia stated bluntly, “Evan, I want access to the police investigation results.”

Evan hesitated for a moment and responded with a serious tone, “Ceci, I cannot intervene in the affairs

without clear leads”

While, in his current role, obtaining the police investigation results for Gecilia was a mere matter of

issuing an order, he couldn’t do so lightly. He was bound by numerous regulations and guidelines as a

government official.

Cecilia grasped the complexity of his situation and said, “Evan, I will unearth the necessary clue.

Please, take some rest.”

Before ending the call, Evan halted her urgently.
