The True Heiress's Return

Chapter 81

As Yvette stood there, her unwavering determination was just as she said-she was ready to give up everything for Lago

Earlier, Lago had begged Shakira for help, but now, it was Shakira who had offered to help him, and Lago hesitated. After thinking it over... Yvette is right. I came from nothing, living in a big villa and running a company now. How did I get here By using Yvette to gain favor with the Nelson family! I've raised someone else's daughter for years. If Yvette loses the Nelson family's support, all my efforts will be wasted Sering Lago silent. Yvette let out a breath of telief. She knew he wasn't foolish enough to jeopardize the long-term relationship with the Nelson family over a short-term crisis!

Just then Jessie, who had been eavesdropping outside, couldn't wait to burst in. She had been anxious for days, fearing Lago might get hurt and that their current good fortune would vanish, leaving her embarrassed in front of her wealthy friends. She grabbed Lago's arm and shook him, "What are you waiting for? Say something! Our daughter is here to help your Lago snapped back to reality, his expression suddenly changing. He swung his arm and slapped Jessie hard across the face, sending her crashing to the floor.

His eyes were bloodshot, making him look like a terrifying beast ready to pounce. "You idiot! Do you want the Nelson family to turn against our daughter?" Lago vented his anger, now seeming more stable than before. "Yvette, you're right. Thanks for reminding me. I almost messed everything up!"

A grateful smile spread across Yvette's face. "Dad, I'm glad you see it clearly." She paused, then suggested, "If you can't sell those antiques you just bought, give them to me. Felix is coming back soon, and I can use them as gifts. Felix is always reluctant to let me spend money, so he'll definitely send me the full amount back. Then I'll give the money to you, and everyone wins."

Lago still worried Yvette might side with the Nelson family and hesitate to bring money home. But hearing her idea made him quite pleased. Blood is thicker than water, my own daughter is definitely on my sider "Right, you can sell them to Felix But that's a long shot. I need to think of a way to deal with this immediate issue..."

Yvette lowered her gaze and fell silent, leaving only Jessie sobbing quietly on the floor, covering her face.

After a while, Lago slammed his hand on the table, "It's all that little witch's fault! If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be in this

mess!

Hearing this. Yvette raised an eyebrow and said softly, "If it's all your sister's fault, why not have her pay for it?"

"That little brat wants to give me money?! That's impossible!

"Dad, some money doesn't necessarily require her willingness."

Lago frowned, "You mean..."

Yvette didn't answer but changed the subject. "A few days ago, Joe got beat up at school by Mitchell because he told your sister he had feelings for her."

"What?! Joe, that punk, what does he mean? Does he want to ditch you and be with that little brat instead?!"

Lago saw Joe as a sort of future son-in-law. After the Ortiz family learned about Yvette's background, Lago had secretly benefited from connections through this potential son-in-law. Now that Shakira had swooped in and taken what was rightfully his, Lago was furious! Yvette spoke softly, "Joe is a good person; how could we blame him? The real issue is your sister! If she had any feelings for Joe, it would only be because she liked the Ortiz family. If she had a more reliable option, she wouldn't try to ruin things between Joe and me," she subtly revealed. Just as Yvette finished speaking, Lago suddenly had a lightbulb moment and smacked his forehead in frustration. "Right! How did I not think of that? I can sell her off! When I took her to parties before, a bunch of big bosses gave me their cards. If she hadn't refused to go, I could have made a fortune by now! She's caused me so much trouble; whether she wants to or not, she must help me carn that money back!" Lago's eyes were filled with greed and a twisted sense of purpose.

When Yvette returned to the Nelson family, she was in a good mood, humming a little tune. After getting out of the car, she ordered the maid to take the antique vases from the trunk to Felix's room.

"Yvette" Mitchell stepped out from inside, his gaze sweeping over the vases she brought back. He had just left Finn's study and learned some things about Lago. He now knew Lago had borrowed a large sum of money before securing the project and spent it extravagantly, racking up debts in the millions. Yvette had gone to the Smith family and come back with these things, even delivering them to the Felix's room. How could Mitchell not see through it?

His face darkened as he approached Yvette, lowering his voice. Yvette, Lago is reaping what he sowed. Are you really going to let the fourth son waste his money on him?"

Feeling exposed. Yvette became angry and flustered. "Mitchell! What's wrong with you? Do you want me to just watch my own father be cornered by those bad guys, having his hands and feet cut off?"

"And you? Haven't you changed!" Mitchell looked at her, disappointment evident in his eyes. He took a couple of steps back and couldn't help but ask, "Just because he's your dad, doesn't that mean we aren't siblings?" Yvette's heart sank! She was scared Mitchell would cause a scene and attract attention, so she quickly pulled him into the backyard.

"Mitchell, please, help me one more time! Just one more time? In an instant, Yvette was crying, Thave no choice! He begged me, even hurting himself! Mitchell, Felix, you're my family, and so is he!" Tears streamed down her face as she felt wronged. "I know I shouldn't let my family pay for his mistakes, Mitchell, just give me time. The company has already started getting me new projects. Once I make some money, no matter how much, I promise to pay Felix back. Please, I'm begging you!"

Seeing her cry so heartbreakingly. Mitchell felt numb inside. He didn't know when his little sister had become so unfamiliar. He thought it was just a temporary mistake, but now... he couldn't control his feelings anymore; he couldn't trust her unconditionally again. "Fine, but this is what you said. Mitchell grabbed her hand and pushed it away. "Yvette, don't let me down again."

"Mitchell, I promise I will pay you back! Trust me!"

Mitchell turned and walked away. Yvette slowly wiped her tears and put on a smile, trying to look brave. What's wrong with me? I shouldn't have cried like this; it was so humiliating! I'm not the same Yvette anymore!"

Shakira increasingly felt that life was getting tough. 'Dealing with Walter at Eastlake Valley Estate is hard enough. At school.... I can't shake off these two nuisances!' Xanthe was following her around like a lucky star, while Mitchell was even more ridiculous, claiming his actions had forced Finn to abandon Southville Project. Now, he expected her to put the past behind them and accept him. He even said... "Hey, you haven't called me Mitchell in a while, right? It feels nostalgic, why don't you call me?"
