Chapter 800
"Why?" Noelle asked.
"What do you mean why?" Hendrix's voice carried an edge of irritation. "How would I know he's not a good person?"
Noelle shook his head. "What I mean is, if he's not a good person, why was I going to marry him in the first place? And he mentioned I lived in Stormridge before. Were we divorced then?"
Now that the questions had started, she might as well get everything out in the open.
The moment she finished speaking, Hendrix's expression darkened further.
Noelle wasn't in a rush. She simply waited, watching him expectantly.
"Yes," Hendrix finally answered her. "You almost did marry him. But then he betrayed you, so you broke it off."
"Betrayed?"
"Yes. To secure an investment, he slept with his ex-wife. And that ex-wife ended up dead overseas because of him. You even suspected he was involved. Because the moment she died, Dylan inherited her money. His company was saved overnight. And you don't remember this, but his ex-wife-"
"Hold up." Hendrix had said too much at once, and Noelle couldn't process it all immediately. She pushed him away and took two steps back.
Hendrix just stood there, his lips pressed into a thin line as he watched her.
"Who was his ex-wife?" Noelle asked.
"Jean Fisher."
"Jean Fisher?" Noelle turned the name over in her mind, but nothing surfaced.
"You don't need to worry about that now," Hendrix said firmly. "Just remember he's bad news."
Noelle frowned but eventually nodded. "Okay."
Hearing her response, Hendrix finally let out a breath of relief.
But the next moment, Noelle asked, "Then, why did we get divorced back then?"
This question was clearly even harder to answer than the previous ones.
Hendrix clenched his hands briefly. "You really want to know?"
"Yeah."
"You were the one who left me back then."
"What?"
Hendrix glanced at her, then lowered his eyes. "At that time, there was trouble within my family. Someone threatened you with Rosie's life, so you agreed to their demands.
"I was taken to the police station. When I finally got out, the first person I saw was you-only for you to hand me divorce papers right away."
And it wasn't the first time she'd
done it, either. The first time they divorced, she had been the one to bring it up as well. She hadn't I

Noelle didn't rush to refute him, because honestly, that did sound like something

Hendrix raised an eyebrow in surprise, then lifted his head to look at her.
"I'm sorry for hurting you," she said, her expression utterly serious.
Seeing her like this, Hendrix
suddenly felt a pang of guilt. Without thinking, he took her hand in his. "It's okay That's all in the past. All that matters is we're doing fine now, right?"
Noelle had a feeling he was still keeping some things from her, but that was to be expected.noveldrama
