The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 681

Hendrix's tone and expression gave Noelle a sudden feeling. It was as if, at this moment, even if she asked him to kill someone, he wouldn't hesitate to do it.

Of course, that was just a passing thought.

"I hate Ruth," she said, lowering her eyes.

Hendrix immediately caught on. "Alright. Then—"

"But I don't want you to handle it," Noelle added.

This left Hendrix puzzled.

"I want to deal with her myself," Noelle told him.

Hendrix became momentarily stunned.noveldrama

"Is that not okay?" she asked.

It wasn't until then that he answered, "No, it's not that. So... you're not angry anymore?"

Honestly speaking, Hendrix couldn't care less if Ruth lived or died. Right now, all he cared about was Noelle's feelings.

It seemed like Noelle had forgotten about what happened in the past. So when he brought it up again, she couldn't help but frown slightly.

That was when Hendrix realized his mistake.

He was about to brush past the topic when Noelle spoke up instead, "As I've already told Ruth-I've known about some things from the start. As for the rest, you've explained them. Besides, didn't I just bite you?"

Even though she said that, Hendrix still stared at her in disbelief. "So?"

"So, the past can't be erased-I know that. But right now, I have no intention of leaving you."

Hendrix finally let out a sigh of relief, the tension in his body melting. away. But instead of loosening his hold on her, he hugged her tighter.

Noelle, struggling to breathe under his grip, pushed harder against him. "Let go. You're hurting me!"

Hendrix said nothing, but he did loosen his grip slightly-though he still refused to let her go.

After struggling for a while and failing to break free, Noelle decided to change the subject. "You still haven't agreed to what I said earlier."

"What?"

"I said I want to deal with Ruth myself. Is that okay?"

"Sure," Hendrix replied without hesitation.

Caught off guard by his straightforwardness, Noelle couldn't help but look up at him.

"What's wrong? Do you need my help with it?" Hendrix asked.

"I figured you'd be shocked and against it."

"Why would I be against it?" Hendrix found it strange that she would think that way.

"Aren't I supposed to be unconditionally kind in your eyes? Aren't you afraid I'll do something terrible and shatter that image you have of me?"

Hendrix was momentarily stunned by her words. Then, he burst out laughing. "Who told you I think you're kind?"

Noelle narrowed her eyes. "Are you saying I'm not kind?"

"No, what I meant was-" Hendrix quickly tried to explain, but even with his sharp

mind, he found himself at a loss for words.

After a moment, he said, "Sometimes, being kind isn't necessarily a good thing. Besides, Ruth brought this on herself, so there's no one to blame but herself."

Hendrix's words flowed more smoothly now."Plus, I'm not exactly a saint, either. If you were too pure it wouldn't suit me. It's better if we're both little ruthless. Won't that make us perfect for each other?"
