Chapter 36
Nobody answered Sandra's question.
Meanwhile, the person who mentioned Maxwell quickly diverted the topic. "Who knows? They're just a bunch of insignificant people. Anyway, a toast to you, Hendrix!"
In reality, he was apologizing for his blunder earlier. After all, regardless of how much Hendrix disliked Noelle, the divorce's entire nature changed if Maxwell was in the mix.
Thankfully, Hendrix didn't hold it against him. He raised his wine glass and clinked it with him.
After downing the glass, the person was ready to say more when Hendrix suddenly stood up. "I have somewhere else to be, so I'll see you guys around. Have fun, and put it on my account."
"Huh? Wait..."
Hendrix left the room before anyone could react.
Sandra, on the other hand, quickly went after him. "Rix!"
"What do you need?" He turned his head, his voice calm but with a hint of coldness.
She bit her lips. "I... I took a cab to come here. Could you send me home?"
"Sure," he replied unhesitatingly, his attitude toward her unchanged.
At that, Sandra heaved a breath of relief and flashed a sweet smile at him. They walked side by side and exited the
club.
Thanks to Lavender Grove's success, the business along the street was boosted. At a glance, a dozen bars and clubs lined along the way.
Against the backdrop of the night, the colorful lights resembled spilled cocktails, and even the air seemed thick with the intoxicating scent of decadence.noveldrama
However, none of that meant anything to Hendrix. Neither did his footsteps halt.
Sandra followed him closely, and as she eyed a chance to speak with him, he suddenly stopped. Before asking what happened, she glimpsed a figure in a blue blouse and black pencil skirt.
What was different tonight was that she wore bold makeup. The winged eyeliner emphasized her eyes, making them seem even more vibrant, while a smile danced at the corners of her lips, giving her a carefree confidence.
This version of Noelle was foreign to Sandra. She had never seen her like that.
Meanwhile, standing beside Noelle was another unfamiliar woman. They stood by the road, appearing to have exited a bar and waiting for a cab.
The woman wrapped her arm around Noelle's shoulders and solemnly said, "I know you think of the male lead as your husband-I mean, ex-husband-and fantasize about him dying in a car crash, but that doesn't mean you should act impulsively
"Come on. This is work. We must approach it professionally and leave our personal feelings out the door."
Car crash? Death?
At that, Sandra quickly looked at the person next to her. As expected, Hendrix wore a frown. Without hesitation, she shouted, "Noelle!"
Her voice made the women, who had faced away from them, visibly stiffen.
Naturally, Sandra couldn't care less about that. She went up to them and pulled Noelle's hand.
"You're here, Noelle! Where have you been? I've been calling you, but you never picked up. Mom and
Dad are worried sick about you!" She sounded earnest.
However, Noelle quickly withdrew her hand from her grip. Then, her eyes darted briefly over Hendrix, who stood
across from her.
What do you think?
