The Supreme Man: Took Everything in Power

Chapter 623 The Thank-You Gift from Hubert

Chapter 623 The Thank-You Gift from Hubert

The next second, Hubert slowly opened his eyes and even sat upright in front of everyone.

"Wow!"

Everyone at the scene inhaled sharply at the sight. Although they wished Hubert a speedy recovery, this was simply too fast for them to comprehend, and they couldn't help but think that they were looking at a zombie!

"Dad…" Stanley gulped as he approached him slowly. "Dad, are you okay?" NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

Hubert widened his eyes and glared at his son. "Of course, I am!"

There was still dried blood staining his face, but his eyes were shining brightly with life. Frankly, he looked absolutely bizarre and frightening, sending a shiver down Stanley's spine.

Even his own son was freaked out by this bizarre sight, not to mention the rest of the Keans; almost all of them had goosebumps when they finally laid their eyes on Hubert.

The flabbergasted look on everyone's faces made Hubert chuckle. "What's wrong? Are you scared and wondering whether I'm a zombie?"

Everyone waved their hands in denial. "No! Nothing of the sort! You'll live a long life, Old Master!"

Although that was what they claimed, in their hearts, they were nodding and thought that he really did look like a zombie.

Hubert snorted derisively as he beckoned to Andrew. "Come here, Andrew."

"Yes… Grandpa." Andrew snapped back to his senses as he trotted to Hubert's bedside.

"On your knees!" Hubert pointed at Stanley as he roared, "And you, too! Both of you, on your knees!"

"Dad…"

"Grandpa…"

Stanley and Andrew looked utterly bewildered as they had no idea why Hubert ordered them on their knees right after he woke up.

"What? Do my words carry no weight anymore?" Every muscle in Hubert's face was rigid with anger. "Are you disobeying me?!"

When everyone saw Hubert blowing his top right out of his so-called deathbed earlier, their hearts finally felt at ease. Judging from this temper, they were sure that he was the real Hubert Kean. Still, their fear was quickly replaced by amazement soon enough. Kingsley's medical skills had simply deviated from the boundaries of medicine as it was a miracle that he just performed!

Right then, the sounds of two slaps echoed; Hubert had raised his hand and given Stanley and Andrew each a harsh beating.

"Even though I couldn't move earlier, I could hear everything clearly!" he roared, glaring at them. "You blind fools don't even know who the real doctor is. How can I pass the connections of the Keans to you two?"

Stanley flushed with embarrassment. "Yes, you're right, Dad. It is my fault—"

Hubert cut him off as he snorted. "I'll deal with the both of you later!" Then, he turned to Kingsley and smiled warmly. "Young lad, you're so skilled at medicine despite your young age. You have my greatest gratitude!"

As Kingsley had a front-row seat as to how swiftly Hubert could switch from anger to friendliness, he couldn't help but think: it looks like the speed at which they change their faces in the Kean Family is an inherited trait. Nonetheless, he quickly cast aside the opinion in his mind as he demurred politely, "You're welcome, Old Mr. Kean. It was no trouble at all."

"Oh, no! I have to thank you." Hubert shoved the sheets off his body as he got out of bed. "Come with me to the study."

Everyone, including Stanley and Andrew, was rendered speechless, and their jaws almost fell off their faces from shock because Hubert could actually get out of bed and walk by himself!

Hubert ignored their incredulous gazes with practiced ease as he led Kingsley to the study. Once he was certain that Kingsley had made himself comfortable, he puttered about and finally found an old book.

Then, he slowly flipped the pages and found an old, yellowed paper sandwiched within. "Here, this is for you. Take it as my thank-you gift for saving me from the Gates of Hell."

"This is…" A confused Kingsley stared at the paper. When his eyes finally focused on the contents of the aging paper, he saw big words written in cursive, 'Carson Todd's Promise.'
