The substitute bride is a mute

Chapter 47

Chapter 47

Judy waved her hand. "I'll just sit here and rest for a bit. I might have to trouble you to take care of Grandma."

Dominic sensed that Judy was purposefully distancing herself from him. He wanted to ask her about it but stopped after seeing her exhausted look. "I'll go get you some food then.” Dominic said

Before Judy could decline, Dominic stuffed a water bottle in her hand and quickly left. Judy was left alone in the empty hallway.

She couldn't help but feel unnerved when she remembered that after the operation, she would have to face Clark and his request.

At dawn in the Reid manor, Clark and Sally were having breakfast.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“You should cut out of coffee, Clark. They're bad for you," Sally said as she put a glass of juice before Clark. She glanced at the second bedroom upstairs and said, "That Judy. She was gone for the past two days.

"What was she so busy with? Was she so busy that she didn't have the time to care for her husband? What kind of wife is this?" "She was taking care of her grandmother at the hospital," Clark said coldly without looking up from the newspaper.

“Aren't there nurses and care workers in the hospital? Why did she need to be there for 24 hours?” Sally asked. "Dom also hasn't returned for two days. He said he was busy every time I called him. I guarantee it is because Judy is bothering him."

Clark looked up from the newspaper and glared at Sally in annoyance.

"Clark, I'm just being honest. so don't get mad at me,” Sally said. "I know you felt pity for that mute Judy. But the Reid family is not a welfare home that gives shelter to anyone

"I'm fine if she knows her place and behaves herself. But look at her. You could tell she's a scheming woman. The kind that would cause trouble.”

Feeling more agitated, Sally continued, "Dom is always speaking for her and protecting her. He's not even listening to me, his mother, anymore. You know that Dom is a soft-hearted man. I'm sure it's because that mute had seduced—"

With a loud clink, Clark slammed the cup heavily on the dining table, completely cutting off Sally.

Startled by the loud noise, Sally looked up and saw Clark's cold, hardened expression. Sally quickly said, "Sorry, Clark. I said too much. B-But, it's all for your sake—"

Clark interrupted. "Aunt Sally if you have that much free time, why not think about Dom's marriage?” Sally was stunned.

"I'm done with the meal. I'm going to the office." Clark took his coat and left the dining room.

Sally could finally relax as she heard the sound ofa car engine coming

Lora, who was clearing the table, consoled, "Actually, Ma'am, you shouldn't worried about her too much. She's just a mute. What is she even capable of doing?

“How about the second daughter of the Blake family? Master Phelps isn't interested in her, but that doesn't mean you're also not interested, no?"

"That Jenna?’ Sally scoffed. "The Blakes arenothing to me. They’ re just a family with a failing medicine business. If it wasn't for Clark =

req vesting the marriage, they have no-business with our family”

Lora was confused, "Then why did you..."

I just want to see the two sisters fight, preferably both of them suffer,” Sally said. "But if we don't get rid of that mute as soon as possible, how do I explain to the Decker family?"

Lora was surprised to hear about the Decker family and asked, "You're still thinking about the Decker family—" Before Lora could finish, Sally's eyes flashed and recalled something. "Come to think of it, I haven't seen Adam for a while.” Lora nodded and said, "Each summer, Adam will stay at his summer resort at Tocham for vacation. He should be there around this time."

Sally pondered and said, "Clark got married for a while now, yet Adam hasn't seen his bride. I should visit him and tell him to be mentally prepared.”

At first, Lora was confused. But she quickly caught Sally's drift and said happily, "Of Course. After all, you're-> the one Who raised Mr. Reid, anc everyone in the Reid family respects you for this. So Adam will listen to whatever you say. " ’

As if a weight was off her shoulders, Sally said delightfully, "Then it's decided! Prepare me some gifts, Lora. We're visiting Adam this weekend."

"Yes, Ma’am," Lora replied
