Chapter 47 Murder
Before Evelyn could react, the door to the statement room was kicked open with a loud bang.
A heavily made–up woman stormed in, pointing at Evelyn and shouting, “So, it’s you, the little
slut trying to kill my daughter?”
“How could you dare lay a hand on my daughter? My daughter is kind–hearted, easy to be bullied, but
I’m not someone easy to mess with. If you dare touch her today, I will make sure you go to jail for the
rest of your life.”
Her anger grew as she spoke, and she rushed towards Evelyn, ready to strike.
The female officer sternly intercepted her. “This is a police station. We only deal with evidence. As long
as you’re innocent, the law will not let her off.”
She then cast a deep glance at the woman, suddenly doubting her earlier judgment.
With a mother like this, how could she have raised a daughter who is easy to bully and kind
hearted?
The male officer escorted the woman out, and the female officer silently looked at Evelyn. “If you want
to get out of this, you need to provide evidence that they abducted you.”
Evelyn gave a grateful smile. “Thank you.”
As Evelyn walked out, the three girls were sitting arrogantly on a bench. The tall girl who had Injured
her, named Isabella, stood beside her mother.
Seeing Evelyn, Isabella shivered. “Mom, I’m scared.”
“Don’t be scared. The woman was full of concern, and she yelled at the lawyer, “Sue her, sue her. I
want her to never see the outside world again in her life,”
Even though their family wasn’t in the top twenty in Memphis, they had more than enough power to
deal with workers from small companies like Evelyn’s,
Observing the mother and daughter’s behavior, Evelyn whispered, “There are surveillance. cameras in
the company; they can check the entire process of my being abducted.”
Such crucial evidence wouldn’t still be available now.
The female police officer’s expression became complicated, and she shook her head. “The surveillance
footage got deleted. Our technical team is working on recovering it, but the chancest
are slim.”
This outcome was almost as Evelyn expected.
She found the location of the technical team and approached.
The female police officer thought she was just anxious and didn’t stop her, unaware that Evelyn was
subtly using incidental contact with the keyboard to manipulate the speed of video
recovery.
“Thinking you can do anything with a few lines of code? It’s ridiculous, idiot.”
Isabella hadn’t even had a chance to laugh before the technician made a pleasantly surprised.

time, maybe I can fully recover the video.”

Seeing Evelyn huddled in the corner, Isabella felt a sense of satisfaction.
Sensing the hostile glares, Evelyn didn’t even blink.
Calculating the time, Henry should be arriving soon. To calm him, she needed a bit of acting.
Glancing at her roughly bandaged wound, Evelyn gritted her teeth, realizing she had to take a risk.
Ten minutes later, Henry pushed open the door of the police station and saw his woman, like an
abandoned little dog, cowering in the corner of a chair. Her hair seemed to have been torn, scattered,
and some had fallen to the ground.
Henry’s eyebrows furrowed, unknown emotions lingering between his forehead.
As the wheelchair approached, Evelyn, trembling shoulders, threw herself into Henry’s arms, her voice
filled with a heavy nasal tone.
“Why did you come so late?”
It sounded like a complaint, yet also like a reproach, accompanied by the girl’s continuously tightening
arms, expressing a strong need for Henry.
He gently stroked Evelyn’s hair, “Sorry, I came late.”
The man’s eyes were too sincere, making all the women present inexplicably jealous.
Isabella was among them. She couldn’t believe there was a man more charming than Lucas in the
world. Since Henry came in, her eyes were fixed on him, naturally not missing his doting on
Evelyn.
Jealousy made her eyes turn red.
“Why is this woman so shameless? Having a boyfriend and still flirting with other men.”
Evelyn stiffened.
“I don’t.” She leaned against Henry’s neck, “Honey, I’m in so much pain.”
The man noticed the wound on her arm, and his gaze suddenly intensified.
“David.”
“Boss.” David stepped forward.

The man noticed the wound on her arm, and his gaze suddenly intensified.
“David.”
“Boss.” David stepped forward.
“Investigate thoroughly.”
“What else is there to investigate? The fact is that this woman shamelessly wanted to harm my
daughter and her classmates, but she ended up injuring herself. There are eyewitnesses, evidence;
you can just wait to face a lawsuit.” Isabella’s mother spoke indignantly.
Henry’s attention remained focused on Evelyn.
Evelyn knew what he was waiting for and muttered, “They kidnapped me.”

Isabella was unconvinced, “Even the janitor saw it. You had the knife against my neck. How can you
deny it?”
“Officer, a woman like her, who has a boyfriend but still flirts with other men, can’t be a good woman.
Hurry up and arrest her.” She indignantly turned to Henry.
“Sir. There are plenty of good girls in the world.”
“Good girls?” Evelyn suddenly raised her head, mocking, “Are you talking about yourself?”
“On November 4th, at the Spring Morning Hotel.
On November 6th, at the Residence Inn.
On November 7th, at the RV Park.
Seems like every time, you are dating with a different man.”
Isabella’s face instantly lost all color.
