The Rejected Luna: Daddy, Where is Mommy?

“What happened? What’s the update?” Ethlyn asked, trying to hide her excitement, but she failed miserably. To be honest, the moment Calvin had apologized to her, she wanted to forgive him then and there and wanted to reveal that she was faking her memory loss, but Caroline had assured her that if she would have some patience, then she would get both Cinder and what she desired.

“Ah!! Someone is so excited.” Reva teased, walking inside her room.

“Reva….”

“Hold on!! Act like you don’t remember anything, or you might get caught because the whole pack is not included in this plan.” Reva warned. “And only Moon Goddess knows about Alpha’s mood; it flips any moment into one eighty degrees.” She added with a tense look.

“What happened? Did he do anything?” Ethlyn asked.

“No. Nothing. At least not now.” Reva replied, shaking her head. “May I ask you something?”

“Yeah! Sure.”

“If you will have to choose between Alpha Calvin and Nathan, then whom will you choose? Ignore the part that Alpha Calvin is your daughter’s father.”

“Comparing Alpha Calvin with Nathan is so wrong. Nathan and I had spent our childhood together and had watched each other growing older still…. Still, I can’t forget what he did to me on my pup’s gender revelation day. On the other side, Alpha Calvin barely knows me… still he can’t do the same to me. That day, when I beat the shit out of that witch, he could have raised his hand at me in anger. After all, by then, he was assuming she was his fated mate.”

“I’m not praising Alpha Calvin for this, but that man has insulted me multiple times either because of anger or misunderstanding, but never did he allow anyone else to insult me.” Ethlyn pointed out.

“But he shouldn’t insult you at all,” Reva said, to which Ethlyn didn’t say anything. “Anyways, I won’t speak in that matter. Can you point out something better? Because from the point where I’m watching everything, they both hurt you. The difference is one hurt you a little more, and one hurt you a little less.”

“Ah! In that way…. Alpha Calvin didn’t hide anything from me. He hurt me by telling me the truth but Nathan… Nathan spent a night with someone else and didn’t care to tell me about it, even when we were together. Most importantly, Reva, Alpha Calvin apologized to me when he realized that he hurted me. On the other side, Nathan knew he did wrong but never…. Never did he agree that he wasn’t a saint either.”

“Saying “I’m sorry” actually shows strength, not weakness. A person who can apologize-and truly mean it-is self-aware.” Ethlyn said. “We can’t grow unless we fail.”

“And now that I know the truth. I don’t think SORRY will work in Nathan’s case. Because Sorry works only when a mistake is made, but not when trust is broken.”

“Hmm. That’s the point.” Reva said and forwarded a book toward her. “Here. Just like you had asked, a book to kill your time here in the hospital.”

Ethlyn grabbed the book and saw its thickness before opening it. “Are you sure that you want to resume your studies?” Reva asked.

“Yes!!” Ethlyn nodded her head. “I don’t want to be a warrior, so it will be better that I will do something that I like instead of staying useless.” She mumbled with a frown and also because she wanted to make her father proud.

“All the best then!!”

“Yeah! Thanks.”

“How is Cinder?

“I don’t know. I can’t feel her. Caroline has done something to her. Maybe has sent her into a deep sleep just to hide this scam from Calvin because she is connected to Keanu, and the witch’s magic doesn’t work t that extent.” Ethlyn replied. “That reminds me, what happened to that witch, Chloe?”

“She is in the dungeon. Alpha announced that you would decide her final punishment because it was her, because of which you went into Alpha Calvin’s room and because of which everything happened. And Guess what? Whose was behind this? The one and only Elena.”

“That witch also confessed that she had sent you into Alpha Calvin’s room, thinking of Calvin as some mere warrior of the Blood Moon Pack. Because that is what he had told Isabella West, the same woman with which he was going to spend his night.”

“Ohhh!! Is that woman, Isabella West, beautiful?” Ethlyn asked in a low tone.

“Seriously? Out of everything, you heard only that part?” Reva asked in amusement. “By the way, yes, she is sexy. I had seen her even in person with Nathan when you were in a coma back then. I don’t know what they were talking about, so I won’t create any story on my own.”

“In that way, how much will you rate her in terms of sexiness out of five?” Ethlyn questioned, ignoring the fact that Reva had seen her with Nathan because it didn’t matter to her now.

“Are you feeling insecure with the thought that a woman like her might catch Alpha Calvin’s attention?” Reva teased.

“It’s… It’s not like..” She couldn’t get a chance to complete the word when Lemieux knocked on the door.

“Hello Beta Female!!” he greeted Reva when he walked in with a bouquet of white lilies. “Hello, Ms. Smith.” He greeted Ethlyn so as not to confuse her with LUNA things.

“Hi, Lemi, What brings you here?” Reva asked, eyeing the red roses.

“Umm… I…” Lemieux reached near Ethlyn. “These are for you, BUT these aren’t from me.” he quickly added when Ethlyn raised her eyebrow. “There is a card in it. You can check the name over there.” He said.

“Thank you, Lemi,” Ethlyn replied. Lemieux smiled and left from there. Just a moment later, a nurse came inside with a basket of fresh apples.

“These are for you, Ms. Smith.” She said with a smile, and after a while, she, too, left the room. Reva quickly snatched lilies from Ethlyn’s hand to read what was written on the card.

“Because he knows that I will get to recognize the sender of my favorite flower and fruit even if he wouldn’t tell me.” Ethlyn smiled and snatched her flower from Reva’s hand and inhaled its fragrances. That was when Reva realized why Calvin was asking about Ethlyn’s likes and dislikes.

‘Should I tell her what had happened today? Nope, let’s keep that as a surprise for her.’ Reva talked with herself. ‘I’m going to murder Zordy, now. He never gave my favorite flowers to me.’
