Chapter 73
Sylvia POV
“Help her! Oh my goddess, help her! I cried as I held Violette in my arms. She was seizing.. foam coming out of her mouth as her eyes rolled to the back of her head.
“What happened!” Beatrice cried as she ran to us. Lillian followed quickly behind and kneeled to help.
“She said she was having pains.. saying that her mate was being unfaithful again.. she fell and just started seizing!” I cried.
“Why would her mate be unfaithful if he mated her? It doesn’t make sense, Beatrice. Something is wrong.” Lillian said frantically.
They pulled her to her side and held her until she stopped seizing. She lay there not moving and I was afraid she was.. dead.
“Is she alive?” I asked. Beatrice listened closely.
“Her heart is barely beating..” she said. Tears fell from her eyes. I could hardly even hear her heartbeat.. or the pups.
Beatrice’s eyes glazed over and I knew she was mind-linking someone.
“Loren is on his way.” She said as her eyes went back to normal.
“What about the king? She’s dying!” I cried.
“He won’t want to see her.” She said softly. She held Violette’s head and stroked her hair.
“It doesn’t make any sense..” Lillian said as she searched her brain for answers.
Loren ran in and kneeled down next to us.
“What’s happened? Is she alive?” His voice was shaky and he smelled of fear.
“Barely..” Beatrice cried.
“I need to go,” I said as I stood up.
“Where are you going? Violette needs you!” Lillian cried.
“ I know.. which is why I have to go,” I said. I quickly ran from the dungeon and made my way to the King’s chambers.
I can fix this..
I can..
I have to..
I ran as fast as I could to the king’s chambers, and I passed by the woman they call Minerva on the way.
She looked upset.. hurt.. her clothes were misplaced and her hair was out of place..
It makes sense.. it’s the only thing..
Violette told me not to tell a soul.. but what if it saves her? I have to.. please forgive me Violette.. but I have to.
I knocked on the door and heard a slam against it.
“GO AWAY.” He growled. I jumped back, my heart racing frantically in my chest..
Please don’t kill me..
I grabbed the handle and slowly twisted it and poked my head in. He was sitting on the floor, and his chambers reeked of alcohol..
Moon Goddess.. please protect me. For I fear I may be making a huge mistake.
“Do none of you listen? I said go away!” He growled as he tried to stand. He stumbled towards me angrily, but he couldn’t even reach me because he was so drunk. He was left panting and falling over.
“My king.. you’ve made a huge mistake,” I said.
“No! It is you and that whore slave.. that has made the mistake!” He growled.
“She’s not a whore slave. She’s your mate.” I said. He looked at me and growled, a devilish look in his eyes.
“She is not!” He said.
“She is!” I growled. He lunged at me but it only took a couple of steps to the side for him to miss me and fall to the floor.
“Trust in her. Have faith..” the words popped into my head and he looked up at me.
“What did you just say?” He asked.
“I don’t know..” I said. Violette said that I said the same thing to her.
“Please, leave.. I cannot bear it, Sylvia.” As he spoke his voice cracked. I ran to grab a cold, wet rag and ran back to him.
“Please listen.. she is your mate..” I said softly as I wiped his forehead with the rag.
“Beatrice said.. it’s.. not possible.. do not lie to me.” He said.
“Im not lying. Just listen to me. You never would’ve gotten away if it wasn’t for her,” I said. He grabbed my wrist and looked me dead in the eyes.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
The door opened and I heard footsteps behind me.
“Sylvia, what are you doing?” Beatrice asked.
“She’s his mate,” I said.
“She’s not! Now stop before you get yourself killed!” Beatrice rushed towards me and tried to pull me away.
“No.. what did you mean?” Viktor pulled my attention back to him.
“She made me promise to never tell.. but if it will save her.. i have to,” I said as tears ran down my cheeks.
“Sylvia, you promised her..” Lillian said once everything began to click.
“I know! I can’t keep it in.. she’s dying! And it’s all his fault!” I growled as I looked at Viktor.
“She was the one who sent the guards..” I said.
“What?” He asked.. he looked at me with pleading eyes.
“She didn’t know it was you.. that her father was torturing.. but she knew whoever it was, did not deserve the pain her father was inflicting..” I said.
He didn’t say a word as he looked at me.
“She heard your screams.. she had nightmares of them daily.. she tried to stop her father but he only beat her for sneaking around..”
“What? Is this true?” Beatrice asked. I looked back at Lillian who nodded her head.
“She didn’t know it was you.. but she did know she had to help. She sent guards to free you.. guards that weren’t loyal to her Father, but to her. For being such a kind, loving, caring person.. they were her guards.” I said. Viktor shook his head as he looked at the ground.
“No..” he said softly.
“She didn’t know it was you.. until she saw you from her room window running away from the castle.. she said she felt a pull to you.. your screams.. and when she saw you she knew exactly who you were.. but she didn’t realize you were her mate. Because of your curse..” I said.
“No.. this.. why are you saying this?” He asked me.
“Her pains only came when you were with Minerva. I don’t know how I never noticed..” Loren stepped in.
“But.. no..” Viktor’s voice broke as he shook his head. He didn’t want to believe he’d been so awful to his mate.
“So, Violette saw Viktor the night of his escape?” Beatrice asked.
“Yes. One month before you came to kill her Father, and took her as your slave.” I said.
“What..” Viktor couldn’t comprehend what I was saying.
“You were just with Minerva.. I saw her leave. Violette was having a seizure. She’s dying because of you, her mate.. had been unfaithful..” I said. His eyes filled with tears.
“No.. you’re wrong..” he said.
“It makes sense, Viktor. If she saw you, the bond would’ve snapped into place for her and everything would’ve started. Her heat..” Beatrice said.
“You’re killing her.. and your pup,” I said. He looked up at me and sobbed.
“Trust in her.. have faith.. I’ve been looking in all the wrong places.. that’s what the seer said..” he said. He was shaking.. an emotional, drunken mess.
“What have I done?” Viktor asked. His eyes widened.
“Where is she?” He asked.
“Where is my mate?” He asked.
“She’s in the dungeon with Enzo,” Beatrice said.
He made a run for the door as I dropped my face into my hands and sobbed.
“She’ll never forgive me..” I cried. Lillian ran up to me and wrapped her hands around me.
“She will. You’ve saved her.. now, he can fix this.” She cried.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
“I.. I can’t believe it.” Beatrice said.
