The Lost Female Alpha

Chapter 32

Mark's mate glanced over towards him then quickly averted his gaze towards the floor in front of him. He was walking a few paces behind the Fuller pack's alpha and luna.

The way he walked so he was with them without actually being with them made it clear that he was one of their omegas. He was wearing a simple light shirt and dark trousers, designed to make him fade into the background. They were all heading in our direction, they seemed unperturbed by Mark's presence but it could have been an act. They kept their eyes focused on Elijah as they walked towards us, only glancing briefly over towards me once. I guess that was an indication of how this conversation was going to go.

"This is a nice party," Alpha Fuller indicated towards the house.

'It was perfect until they showed up,' Onyx complained. "Thank-you. I am glad you could make it," Elijah said.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

His voice was stiff and emotionless. I have never heard him speak like this before and I didn't like it one bit. I was so used to my Elijah, the one that was calm but passionate. Hearing him like this made me crave his passionate side more strongly.

"We nearly didn't. My daughter was so distraught that we nearly had to stay home to comfort her," Luna Fuller replied.

"I bet you regret not taking me up on my offer now. My daughter is an alpha and you could have had her rather than this," Alpha Fuller pointed at me. He was looking down his nose at me as though I was nothing more than the dirt on his shoe.

Elijah growled.

'Kill him,' Onyx encouraged me. Alpha's don't take insults well, me and my wolf were no exception to that rule.

"Don't growl at me, it is a fact. I am sure this woman is good in bed and makes your wolf happy but that is all she is good for," Alpha Fuller said, he seemed to be enjoying this.

"Not that it matters but my mate is an alpha by birth. She is also an incredibly strong fighter and incredibly smart but even if she was an omega you have no right to talk about her like that. If you ever insult my luna again you will not be welcome in my house," Elijah growled.

'Am I the only one turned on right now?' Onyx asked.

No she wasn't. I glanced at Elijah as he squared up to the alpha of the Fuller pack and there was no denying exactly how turned on I was by his actions.

I could stand up for myself, I had been doing it for most of my life but it was nice to feel loved and protected. To know that someone else had my back and would fight to protect my honour.

"I didn't mean to insult you or your mate. I was just upset that you broke my daughter's heart," Alpha Fuller smirked at me. I know he was implying that they had some kind of relationship but I didn't believe it for a second.

"I am sorry she got hurt but I made it clear from day one that I wouldn't be with anyone other than my mate," Elijah replied.

"She was fine to sleep with but not good enough to be your mate, is that it?" Alpha Fuller shouted, glancing around to see how many people were listening to our conversation.

"That lying son of a bitch," Elijah thought. I could feel his anger surging through our bond.

"I don't know what she told you but I have never slept with anyone other than my mate," Elijah paused for long enough to pull me close and kiss me on my forehead. "Now that is out of the way, we have more important things to talk about." He continued.

I wasn't paying much attention to his words anymore. He was holding me close to his body in a protective manner and all I could think about was how nice it felt to be in his arms. "What do you want to discuss?" Luna Fuller asked, sounding a little flustered.

"My beta is mated to one of your omegas," Elijah replied.

I glanced over towards Mark, he was smiling at his mate and trying to make conversation. His mate was staring at the floor in front of him and pretending not to hear any of it.

I could see the pain in Mark's eyes, he was shunned by the whole pack pretty much and now his own mate wouldn't even look at him. I don't know why he was shunning his mate but it didn't seem right, he had only just met Mark. "That is interesting. I am happy for you to take the omega off my hands but I need something from you in return," Alpha Fuller said.

"He is his mate, why are you treating this like a contract negotiation?" Elijah asked.

"Everything is a negotiation. If you want to take the omega then you need to help me and I need help finding a suitable mate for my daughter."

Elijah interrupted alpha Fuller with a growl.

"Calm down Elijah, I didn't mean you. Your unofficial gamma has a son, I think his name is Ryker. If you make his position official then he would make a suitable mate for my daughter. Much more suitable than the omega who the moon goddess tried to set her up with," Alpha Fuller rolled his eyes.

Now everything was starting to make sense. Their daughter was mated to an omega, in many packs this wouldn't be an issue but in this pack it was. They saw omegas as so far beneath them that they would take it as a great insult to have their daughter mated to one.

That was why they were so desperate to get Elijah to take her as his mate. Now that he had met me they had to find someone else and it appeared as though Ryker was the new victim.

"I don't think we can agree to this on Ryker's behalf," I interjected.

"I am not suggesting that. I think we should bring her here and let them get to know each other. You can make your final decision by this time next week and let me know." Alpha fuller turned to face Mark's mate.

"You will stay here for the next week as well," he said.

He turned around and walked away from us, his luna and the remaining omegas running after him to catch up. After talking to him for only a few minutes I could see why most of the other alpha's didn't like dealing with him. Apparently his reputation for being an ass wasn't an exaggeration.

"Hi, my name is Mark. What is your name?"

Mark took a step towards his mate who flinched and stepped backwards. His eyes were wide with fear and he was starting to shake. I wonder how many times this man has been beaten by members of his own pack.

"Are you going to reject me? Is that why you want my name?" The omega asked.

"Of course not," Mark said. He reached out to touch his mate but hesitated.

"Alpha Fuller said that if I ever met my mate he would reject me because I am a worthless, ugly mutt."

Before the words had fully left the omega's mouth Mark had closed the distance between them and wrapped his arms around his mate. The omega seemed nervous at first but after a couple of seconds he relaxed and put his arms around Mark.
