The Last Ceo’s Deal

Chapter 40: Lawfully, legally mine

CHAPTER 40

CHRISTINE

The reception abruptly came to a halt after the ugly incident but refreshments and slow music could be heard, Fanuel’s men were able to pounce on the media and press to crawl out of the event and everything came back to normal.

I glance occasionally to look for Edward to thank him for saving me, I would probably be in the hospital by now. My chin was sore from fake smiling and greetings from powerful men and women who came far and near to congratulate us. I just want to go home and rest. I want to ask about Laurel and how she’s doing but I need to breathe.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

“So..” Fanuel starts to say and I look up at him. He is looking at me over the rim of the champagne glass.

“Yeah?”

“What do you do for fun?” He asks rather nonchalantly.

“I read a lot… I write a bit and I watch movies occasionally.” I say with a shrug.

“What about outdoor activities? Like fun…”

I shake my head. “I’m not an outdoor person.”

He grins then. “Our honeymoon is going to be hell for you then.”

“What do you mean?”

“All the activities there are quite involved.”

“Fanuel, don’t do that to me. I’m not the sporty type. ” I give him a deathly stare but he just snorts in response.

“Klutz then?”

“I’m not that clumsy.” I say heatedly and he holds my hand just before my fist connects with his jaw. I’m seriously thinking about what happened and the trauma it created and he’s asking and calling me nonsense!! What manner of human being is this?

He tugs me towards him using my hand until my body is aligned with his. His eyes are angry slits and I can feel the rage vibrating through him.

“Just keep this up and we’re going to be busted. Who hits their husband on their wedding day?” He asks quietly, his face a mere inch from mine.

“Well, who calls their bride a klutz?”

He shakes his head. “Christine, you are a klutz. That’s not an insult.. It’s a fact.”

I narrowed my eyes on him.

“Screw you Fanuel Hudson.”

I think it’s high time he talks to me with respect, despite what Webb did to him, we are both doing ourselves a favor. I’m helping his ass to get cool cash to save his company and he’s helping me so I can be set free from his dungeon.

I hissed so hard, with that, I pulled myself out of his embrace and turned to walk away. A few steps away, I bump right into someone.

All for not being clumsy.

Champagne splashes all over my grand wedding gown and the pink color stains the entire front. I take a step back, my eyes wide open in shock. The only good thing about my wedding day was just being spoiled .

I take another step back, and my back hits a hard torso.

That must be Fanuel. He wraps an arm around my waist from behind and I gulp, almost forgetting that I just ran into someone.

“Oops Christine. Sorry, didn’t see you there.”Mirabel says while feigning an apologetic face but the sneer behind that painted face is hard to miss.

She did that on purpose. She poured champagne on my dress.

“You ruined my gown.” I say in disbelief.

“Oh my God! How dare I? Can you ever forgive me?” The sarcasm in her voice drives me crazy.

“Get your butt off my face.” I snap angrily, after making sure that none of the cameramen is recording the little show.

She chuckles when the arm on my waist tightens around me and I wonder what’s so funny. I turn around to look at Fanuel at exactly the same time his angry voice flows to me from somewhere beside us.

I turn to look at him and he’s indeed standing there, his mouth agape, his eyes dark and angry as hell.

I realize then, that the hand on my waist is not Fanuel’s.

I move to tear myself from him but Fanuel is already upon us. He pushes whoever is behind me backwards. I turn around just as the guy lands on his ass, cursing silently.

His face is not familiar at all and he’s wearing a black tux. His brown hair is slicked back and his golden cuff links shimmer in the sunlight. He has that aura of ‘I’m in charge’. He is not as intimidating as Fanuel but I’m pretty sure he has his glorious moments.

Fanuel moves over to him and grabs him by the collar. He hauls him up until their faces are almost touching. Anger is radiating off him and the muscles on his jaw are twitching.

The cameras click like crazy.

I stand there in my champagne soaked gown half trembling, wondering what the heck just happened. I watch as Fanuel moves his lips to the guy’s ear, his words spewing like venom..

“Stay the fuck away from Christine. She is mine. You hear me dickhead? Lawfully, legally mine.”

Then he pushes him and turns to me. I want to ask what the hell is happening but I’m sure Fanuel won’t tell me shit especially with those cameras all over.

He looks me over for a moment before he grabs my arm and pulls me out of the reception.

I stumble in my high heels and I almost trip over. Fanuel curses under his breath and glares at me as I try to catch my breath. Without warning, he bends a little and puts an arm under my knees. Before I fathom what is happening, I’m in his arms and he is carrying me weightlessly to the waiting car.

I bite my lip and keep my curses at bay. He is mad and I don’t want to aggravate that. Kol is already opening the back door when we get to the Limo and I stay quiet as Fanuel helps me in. He is aloof when the car pulls out of the parking lot and I keep my eyes on the road.

I can’t take it any longer.

I turn to look at him and he is watching me silently, his eyes hooded and his expression unreadable. I can tell that he is still mad and I have no idea how he is going to react to whatever I have to say.

I quickly look away when our eyes meet.

“I’m sorry.” I say eventually, biting my lower lip and staring at the blank screen separating us from the driver.

“You should be.” He replies after a moment. He doesn’t sound exactly pissed off.

It’s more like confusion and a tinge of disappointment.

“What happened? Who was that?” I ask and he turns to look at the open window.

“No one significant. Forget it.”

“Fanuel you are lying and you know it.” I look at him dead in the eye and he lifts an eyebrow.

“So what if I lie? You were letting that stupid mother fucker touch you in my presence. You were cheating on me moments after we tied the knot… Right in my presence.”

I gasp loudly. The accusation behind the angry tone is not lost to me. I stare at him for a whole minute.
