The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 533 Face-To-Face

Yvette was so furious that she collapsed onto the couch.

Charlene rushed forward to support her. "Grandma, are you okay?"

Suddenly Yvette slapped Charlene across the face. "You useless thing! Why didn't you realize Hector had called Marcus and Natalie?"

Charlene clutched her cheek, not daring to say a word.

"Why did you hit her?" Elijah stepped forward and pulled Charlene away. "Being the granddaughter of a twisted old hag like you must've been rough on her!"

Charlene's face was red and swollen. She bit her lip and stayed silent.

"Your grandmother is old and twisted, you should stay away from her. You're only 18. Do you plan to let her brainwash you for the rest of your life?

"Listen, you're 18 now. You're an adult. You can think for yourself and not be a puppet on someone else's string!"

In a firm and sincere tone, Elijah continued, "The people you surround yourself with will shape who you become. It's hard to stay good, but it's really easy to go bad. You wouldn't want to turn into a twisted person at such a young age, right?"

Charlene just remained silent.

"Shut up, you wretched man! Shut up!" Yvette yelled at Elijah. "You're certainly Adam's son. You're "

"You old hag, you can insult me all you want, but don't you dare talk about my dad! I'll tear your mouth apart!"noveldrama

Elijah rolled up his sleeves and stepped forward to drag Yvette toward him. He reached for her mouth. "You twisted woman, let's see you talk now! How dare you insult my father!

"If it weren't for you, my parents wouldn't have divorced. My brother and I wouldn't have grown up without our parents! I swear I'll teach you a lesson today!"

"Don't hit my grandma!" Charlene snapped out of her shock and lunged forward, grabbing Elijah's arm. "Please, I beg you. Don't hit her! She's old, and she has cancer. She doesn't have much time left."

Tears streamed down Charlene's cheeks. "Please, let her go."

"Stop begging!" Yvette pushed Charlene away. "Let him continue. If he kills me, I'll drag him to hell with me."

"Elijah," Marcus said coldly. Hearing that, Elijah immediately let go of Yvette.

Marcus stepped forward and glared coldly at Yvette. "Your story doesn't match with what my grandpa told me. I'll have you meet him face-to-face. The two of you can talk it out. One of you is lying."

Yvette's back ached after being shoved by Elijah, but Marcus showed no sympathy. If anything, he would've done it himself.

What had Natalie done to deserve this? The Walkers had merely chosen to stay out of the conflict and not help Yvette.

Yet, she sent Natalie to the Langleys and allowed them to torment her so cruelly.

If Natalie hadn't met Federrick, Marcus couldn't imagine what she would've turned into after all the suffering she endured under the Langleys.

"Fine, I'll meet him." Yvette sat up straight and returned to her arrogant self. "Do you think I'm afraid of Charles?"

"Well then, Mrs. Jenkins Senior, after you," Marcus said, his voice deep and icy. His gaze toward Yvette was enough to send chills down someone's spine.

The story he had heard from Charles was completely different from Yvette's version.

All these years, Charles had told Marcus that he and his grandmother loved each other deeply. Marcus couldn't believe that a woman of such grace and dignity would've fallen for a man who two-timed her.

One of them must've been lying.

But judging by Yvette's reaction, it didn't seem fake either.

Could it be...

There was only one way to find out.

Back at Holden Residence, Marcus, Natalie, and Hector forcibly escorted Yvette

and Charlene to face Charles.

Since returning from the Walker

residence, Charles hadn't looked well

physically, not emotionally. His

health had always been poor. If not for Natalie treating him, he wouldn't have lived this long.

When he met the granddaughter of someone who should've been long dead, the shock was simply too much for him.

After returning to Holden Residence, Charles had locked himself in his study, sitting there for an entire afternoon.

Sheldon knocked on the door and spoke cautiously, "Mr. Holden Senior, Mr. Marcus has returned with Yvette Jenkins and Charlene Jenkins. He said that you should meet Yvette."

Charles snapped out of his daze. He picked up the photo frame he had been staring at. Inside was a picture of his late wife, Vivian, when she was 18.

"Vivian, Yvette claims you never loved me. I don't believe it. We were childhood sweethearts, deeply in love. How could you not have loved me?"

His eyes reddened. "I don't believe a

word Yvette says. You told me she

liked me, so she wanted to ruin our marriage. She spread those lies to drive @wedge between us. How could not trust my own wife and believe her instead?"

Seeing that Charles didn't reply and was mumbling to himself, Sheldon spoke out once again. "Mr. Holden Senior, apart from Mr. Marcus, Ms. Natalie, and Mr. Hector are here as well."

"Alright. I understand."

Charles wiped the tears off the corners of his eyes and placed the photo frame on his desk. Then, he stood up and walked out of the study.

"Sheldon, tell me... the woman that Marcus and Nat brought back. Is she really Yvette Jenkins?"

Sheldon answered cautiously, "Yes. I've seen her myself. I'm certain it's Ms. Yvette."

Charles nodded slightly, then kept quiet.

Soon, he arrived at the living room and came face-to-face with Yvette.

"Charles, it's been a long time," Yvette greeted him first. "All these years, you've

been living a comfortable life!"

Charles didn't respond. Instead, he stared at her intently.

Seeing someone who was

supposedly dead suddenly standing before him was dangerous for Charles, especially since he had a weak heart. But with Natalie and

Hector there, Marcus wasn't too worried.

"Grandpa, listen to this recording," Marcus said calmly. He shot a glance at

Hector.

Immediately, Hector took out his phone and played the recording. Yvette's voice rang out clearly in the room.

As the minutes trickled by, Charles listened to Yvette's side of the story. His expression slowly turned grim.

As for Yvette, a mocking curve was always hanging on her mouth as she watched

in disdain. She wanted to watch Charles suffer.

She wanted to shatter the beautiful illusion that Vivian had built for him, especially

when he was supposed to live out the rest of his life happily.

Yvette was running out of time. She wanted to lay everything bare before she died.

After a while, the recording finally ended.

Charles' face was pale as a sheet. He stared blankly at Yvette, his lips trembling.

He wanted to say something but couldn't make a sound.
