Chapter 786
Everyone in Vernon's villa was dead!
Upon hearing that, Leopold staggered to his feet. His eyes were wide open as if they were about to pop out of his eye sockets.
He raised his hand, his mouth twitching as if he were trying to say something. His lips quivered for a long while, but he still didn't manage a single word. Leopold spluttered without warning, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
Clement was terrified when he saw Leopold in this state and hurried over to help him. "Y-You need to take care of yourself, Dad. Just sit down. I'll call the doctor right now."
Leopold parted his lips and let out a heavy sigh.
He held Clement's hand, his voice shaking from fear. "It must be Matthew. He's the one who wiped out Vernon's family. I need to know the answer. Is he dead? Hurry up and ask if Matthew is dead."
Clement instructed the nearby maid to call a doctor, then turned to coax Leopold, "Don't worry about that right now, Dad. Take care of yourself first. I'll report it to the police, and I'll get the chief to send a team to protect us."
Grabbing Clement, Leopold anxiously added, "Get on the phone now. I want to know if Matthew is gone. Start dialing. I have to hear the news that he's dead."
Realizing how determined Leopold was, Clement took Leopold's phone and visited the dark web. He found the previous chat log and sent a message to the owner of The Misfortune's Veil, "Five minutes have passed. Matthew must be dead by now, right?"noveldrama
Matthew received the message and snickered. Since the Fullers wouldn't quit, he'd keep toying with them. It was time to see how deep their pockets were.
He quickly wrote a message, "It pains me to say this. All the assassins I sent after Matthew are gone. They're all wiped out."
Upon reading the message, Clement knew right away that Matthew was still alive. He brought the phone in front of Leopold. "See it for yourself, Dad."
Clement gave up on telling Leopold that Matthew was still alive. At this point, Leopold still wouldn't give up. He just wanted Leopold to see the outcome and stop holding any hopes for The Misfortune's Veil.

After seeing the message, Leopold's expression darkened. "Why should I care if The Misfortune's Veil's assassins are dead? I just want to know if Matthew is dead. Ask them about it. Send them a message to find out the answer. I want to hear the truth."
Clement scrunched up his brows. The reply already made it obvious. Was there really any need to ask? What was the point of asking?
Faced with Leopold's anxious look and repeated urging, Clement had no choice
but to pick up the phone and type, "Get straight to the point. Is Matthew dead?"
After seeing the message, Matthew paused briefly before replying, "Matthew is hard to kill, but it's not all for nothing. We've found his weak spot. Wire me another hundred million dollars, and I promise he'll be dead next time."
Clement's expression turned grim as he looked at the reply. The Misfortune's Veil didn't finish the job, but now, they were asking for more money.
Clement was quiet as he held the phone. Upon noticing it, Leopold asked, "Say something. What did they say?"
Clement handed the phone to Leopold, letting him take a look himself.
"Matthew is hard to kill, but it's not all for nothing. We've found his weak spot. Wire
me another hundred million dollars, and I promise he'll be dead next time... Matthew has unbelievable luck..."
As Leopold read out the message, his hands trembled with rage.
Matthew was still alive. How did he survive? After spending all that money, why wasn't he dead yet?
When Leopold got to the part about a hundred million dollars, he spat out another mouthful of blood, leaving little spots of blood scattered across the table and the phone.
What do you think?
