Matthew continued going toward Nathan and coldly remarked, "Are you the owner of The Misfortune's Veil?"

Nathan was filled with a panic. The sense of having his cover blown was terrifying.

Matthew looked at Nathan with a piercing gaze that was as sharp as a knife, causing Nathan to feel his skin crawl.

Upon seeing Matthew get closer, Nathan nervously put up a hand to stop him. "Don't come any closer! Stay away. One more step, and I'm jumping into the river."

Jumping into the river?

Matthew was convinced that Nathan couldn't swim and shrugged indifferently. "I came here to kill you anyway. If you jump, you'd just be saving me trouble. Go ahead and do it."

Staring at the turbulent waters, Nathan's face turned pale with fright.

Back when he was learning to swim, he swallowed some water and got so scared that he never tried again. At this point, he deeply regretted it. If he had known, he would've learned it no matter what.

As Matthew continued to approach, Nathan panicked. "S-Stop. Don't kill me. I've never killed anyone, and I haven't even tried to harm you."

Matthew's gaze turned cold. "You may not have done it yourself, but you're the mastermind behind it."

Nathan backed up once more, his foot now on the edge of the riverbank. If he moved any farther, he'd lose his footing and roll down the slope into Lambda River.

Seeing the turbulent waters, his face went pale with fright as he shouted, "Spare my life. I'll work for you. Whoever you want dead, I'll take care of it. Tell me the name, and I'll make sure they're gone without a trace."

Matthew's murderous intent grew stronger. "I've got my own hands for that. If I need to kill someone, I'll do it myself."

Upon hearing that, Nathan cried out in a panic, "I've got tons of money. Don't kill me, and I'll give you everything The Misfortune's Veil owns. You'll be the wealthiest person in Lambda City."

Matthew's expression twisted with rage. "Your biggest mistake was messing with my parents and daughter. Even if you gave me a mountain of gold, it wouldn't save you now."

As Matthew spoke, he picked up his pace, charging toward Nathan. Nathan cried out in fear, stumbling backward. His foot slipped off the edge, Causing him to land on the riverbank slope and roll down With a splash, he fell into Lambda River.

Matthew furrowed his brows, feeling uneasy about not killing Nathan with his own hands. Growing up watching TV, he always hated when the protagonist didn't finish the job, leaving a chance for the enemy to survive.

But seeing Nathan struggling in the river, Matthew was convinced that Nathan had

no chance of making it out alive. In the end, he gave up the idea of jumping into the river to finish Nathan off.

With his poor swimming skills, jumping into the river would be suicide. Otherwise, he wouldn't have let Anthony escape last time.

Standing by the river, Matthew gazed at the rolling waves and didn't turn around to leave until Nathan was out of sight.

Going back the way he came, Matthew hopped through the window and entered the restaurant, Under the stupefied gaze of the restaurant's customers, he grabbed Nathan's phone and car keys from the table before strutting off.

Matthew got into the cab with the license plate 8HCA923. As he searched the vehicle, he found a cup of coffee in the cup holder. Looking at the velvet brown hue, he could tell it was rich in flavor.

The car also had a pack of tissues and a variety of dried fruits like raisins, dates, prunes, and dried cranberries.
