Chapter 775
A person sat alone, enjoying a hearty plate of spaghetti bolognese. Meanwhile, other cab drivers gathered in small groups, sharing the most amusing encounters
in their jobs.
Nathan sat by the window, watching the rushing Lambda River. He took a bite of a meatball, slurped up some spaghetti, and followed it up with a bit of onion. He looked pretty content with his meal.
He couldn't help but remember the mining days when he was filthy all over and even had to eat his meals in the underground mines. Nathan had felt like he was living worse than a rat, especially with his salary always delayed. The house he bought had a 20-year mortgage, and he had to pay for it every month.
When he didn't have any income for a month, he felt like he was about to lose it.
All his relatives were broke, so he had to turn to online loans, which were a nightmare. That helped him out for a few months, but the debt snowballed over the next few months. Paying the mortgage on top of the online loans was just too much.
Thinking about it made Nathan break into a cold sweat, as if he were back in that desperate situation. Life was suffocating with no way out.
Even if he wanted to end his life, he couldn't bear to leave his son behind. The feeling of being too broken to even cry was overwhelmingly despairing.
The phone on the table chimed, snapping Nathan back to reality. Taking a deep breath, he picked up a meatball with his fork and took a bite. The tender texture, the savory flavor, and the warmth of each bite gave him a sense of enjoyment. As he had another bite of spaghetti, he felt like he was on cloud nine.
Nathan had tons of money. He could afford private jets, luxury villas, and gourmet food like truffles and foie gras. But his favorite was still a plate of spaghetti bolognese.
When he was almost done, he put down his cutlery and picked up his phone. It turned out that the notification earlier came from a comment left on a website.
The Fullers left the comment, and the message was straightforward and brief, "Mission failed. Please refund!"
Refund?
Nathan snickered. Too many assassins from The Misfortune's Veil had died trying to kill Matthew. At this point, he was practically the last one standing.
The Fuller family actually had the nerve to ask for a refund? Nathan shot back, "The standard rule is no refunds for failed missions."
With that, Nathan put down his phone and continued eating his spaghetti bolognese.
Leopold's aged eyes flashed with anger as he replied, "Quit the 'rules' nonsense. I paid for Matthew to die, but he's still alive. Why should I pay?"
Another notification sounded from the table.
Nathan lost his appetite as he grabbed his phone. After glancing at it, he gritted his teeth and replied, "You paid the money, and I sent my people to do the job. Even if
Matthew is still alive, over 30 of The Misfortune's Veil's assassins died. After such a huge loss, why should I refund you?"
Leopold had never dealt with a situation like this. "I put up the money, and The Misfortune's Veil is supposed to take care of the job. don't care how you do it, how many people you send, or what weapon you use-none of that has anything to do with me. I'm only interested in the outcome. Matthew didn't die, so you owe me a refund." noveldrama
Furious, Nathan snapped, "With so many assassins from The Misfortune's Veil dead, did they all die for nothing?"
Leopold was so mad that his eyes started twitching. "I'm rich, but money doesn't grow on trees. If you refuse to pay me back, I'll have people come after you for it."
Was Leopold serious about coming after him?
Nathan glanced at the reply and scoffed.
His fingers flew across the screen as he typed the reply, "The Misfortune's Veil is secretive. No one knows where we are and am. Don't even try. I'd say not a can find
single person in this world Pe
me. How are you going to get your money back?"
What do you think?
