The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 509

After he finished speaking, Brad suddenly recalled another matter. "Can you stop getting me into trouble, Matthew? The cops are already at my door because of what happened to the publisher."

Publisher? Matthew suddenly understood what it was. An Eastorian named Maurice tried to snatch Scholarly Tradition, so he killed him out of anger.

"You might not know this, but they were after priceless medical literature on traditional medicine. They even planned to kill me to cover their tracks. I had no choice."

Brad took a moment to gather his thoughts before saying slowly, "I'm not saying you can't kill anyone. Young men should have fire in them. Otherwise, they'll turn into wimps, and the entire nation will be doomed. That's what's truly terrifying."

Matthew was taken aback. "What's your point?"

Brad cleared his throat. "You waltzed right into the publisher and murdered someone in plain sight. You must have felt great about that, right? Then you just walked away like nothing happened, leaving me to deal with the mess. Can't you be a little discreet?"

Matthew smacked his forehead with a look of sudden realization. "You're right! How did I forget to keep it low profile?"

Even though Matthew said so, he actually felt differently. If he were to be lowkey, things would get troublesome when the police found out he was the culprit.

Matthew intentionally handled it without much discretion, leaving Trevor and Dominic to deal with the aftermath. He was setting them to take the blame.

Brad replied with a smile, "That puts my mind at ease. It's getting late, so I won't hold you up. I'll have someone take you home."

After finishing his sentence, Brad rolled down the car window and spotted Leo, Lucien, and Dominic standing together. He motioned with his hand. "Get over here."

Noticing Brad had spoken, Leo walked over with a solemn expression and saluted. "Awaiting your orders, Mr. Miles."

Lucien helped Dominic over and said, "At your command, Mr. Miles."noveldrama

Brad nodded. "We're not in the army, so you don't need to be so formal. Who's free?"

Upon hearing Brad's words, Lucien loosened up. "I'm looking after Dominic, but Leo is available."

Brad turned to Leo and said, "Then you'll be the driver and send Matthew home."

Taking Matthew home? Upon

hearing that, Lucien immediately changed his mind. "It's better for Leo

to take care of Dominic because

he's more attentive than I am. I'lI

drive Matthew home."

When Lucien first met Matthew, the thought of driving Matthew felt like an insult.

After all, he was a Captain, who was in charge of a unit.

However, Lucien felt the opposite. He was in awe of the commanding presence Matthew had exuded as he wielded the blade after taking out the enemies.

That was the first time he admired and revered someone his age.

Standing at the side, Leo protested, "You keep an eye on Dominic, Lucien. I'll be Matthew's driver. After all, I'm better at driving than you."

Beside them, Dominic made a joke to interrupt their argument. "How about you both go back and rest? I'll take Matthew home."

Brad looked at the bandages on Dominic's abdomen. "Why are you trying to butt in?"

After he finished speaking, Brad turned to Lucien. "Since your name comes last in the alphabet, you're the one driving, Lucien."

It was already past midnight when a car stopped at the entrance of Silverbrook Village.

Lucien enthusiastically said, "I'll drop you off right at your doorstep."

Matthew shook his head. "Forget it. Driving a car into a village makes too much noise. You'll wake everyone up."

With that, Matthew got out of the car and walked home.

The village had only a few streetlights. Since they were spaced far apart, some parts of the road were lit, while the rest stayed pretty dark.

Matthew dragged his tired body along the familiar path, leaving behind his worries during the day.

He enjoyed this stretch of road because it led him home, where he could leave behind all the scheming and conflict.

When Matthew came to the front

door of his house, he noticed the et

lights inside were still on. A sense of guilt washed over him for coming home so late.
