The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 73

Chapter 73

They went into the monitoring room. Derek asked someone to show them the surveillance video. They

were sitting there, one screen for each person to watch the boring surveillance videos. As Ava grew

impatient, she was suddenly attracted to a picture.

It was the place where she talked to Director Chow outside. Ava was stiff for fear that the damn camera

might have recorded something that would be unfavorable for her.

Fortunately, the place where they were standing seemed to be a blind spot so that nothing was

exposed. Just as Ava breathed a sigh of relief, she saw a familiar figure.

The time of that figure showing up was not long, but it was enough for her to recognize who it was.

Meredith ran away quickly from the place not far away, and at that time... She should be whispering

something that should not be heard by others to Director Chow.

Ava was shocked. Did Meredith hear what she had said?

On second thought, Meredith seemed to have just asked her to please those men. At that time, she

didn't care much. Now she realized Meredith meant something actually.

At the thought of this, Ava was not calm anymore. "Mr. Xavier, I already said that my necklace was lost

in the bathroom. Why do you ask me to watch these videos now?"

Derek narrowed his eyes and looked at her callously. He seemed to know Ava's intention. "It seems

that Miss Mason is very sure of it. It is unnormal for someone who lost things to be so sure."

Ava was speechless for a moment. She was so anxious as to ignore it. Just as she was about to say

something, Derek, who was 1.8 meters high, slowly stood up and looked down on Ava in front of him.

"If you solve it now, I will go easy on you. If not, after I find the necklace, I will ask someone to analyze

the fingerprint on that necklace..."

"Miss Ava is smart. You should know what I mean."

Looking at his confident look, Ava understood that this time she was completely defeated. The

necklace was put into Meredith's bag for herself. They would not find the fingerprints of the so-called

thief but only hers. It was self-evident what happened.

Now, she could not ruin her image for another time.

"Then, that's it. There may be some misunderstandings." Ava smiled, "Mr. Xavier, please return my

things to me in a few days."

Derek didn't say a word and just looked at her indifferently. Ava didn't want to embarrass herself. Now

that Derek just didn't want to spread the news in the whole city, she had to accept him.

She didn't have the guts to fight against Derek.

Picking up her handbag, Ava took another look at Meredith, who was standing by the side, and then left

in a panic.

Watching Ava's submission, Meredith was relieved. Although she was innocent, she could not defend

herself for Ava's meticulous plan. If Derek hadn't arrived in time, she would have...

"Thank you," Meredith said sincerely to Derek. "I would have been vilified without you."

"It is good that you know it." Derek accepted Meredith's thanks without hesitation.

"Let's go." Meredith felt that she need not stay here any longer. She stood up but, unexpectedly

stepped on a pen that fell on the ground at some time.

Meredith had difficulty in maintaining balance in her high heels. She tilted as she stepped on something

else and felt acute pain from her ankle.

Derek reached out to help Meredith up. He frowned. "Are you okay? How could you be so careless?"

Meredith muttered secretly that the high heels he gifted her were too high to wear for ordinary people.

"I... I'm ok..." Meredith tried to move her ankle. At this moment, she felt a sharp pain. There was cold

sweat on her forehead and her face turned pale.

"What are you trying to do?" Derek heard her voice trembling for the pain. But she still pretended to be

fine. He suddenly picked her up and said, "Go home now."

"But, how about your business..." Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

Meredith still remembered her purpose this time. Derek was for an important deal and she didn't want

to influence his work.

"Don't worry, I know what to do more clearly than you." Derek glanced at the little woman in his arms.

She was very thin. Even though he held her like this, he did not feel she was heavy at all.

Meredith kept quiet for a moment, feeling warm. Suddenly, she thought of something. "It doesn't seem

decent to be seen. What if they mistake our relationship... I'd better come down and walk on my own."

As she talking, Meredith pushed Derek's chest as if she persevered to walk by herself. When Derek

saw that she was afraid of being misunderstood, he was angry. "How could you walk? When you arrive,

no one is there."

As she spoke, he ignored her weak struggle and quickened his pace. He took the elevator directly to

the underground parking lot.

Fortunately, no one saw them along the way. Meredith took a sigh of relief.

Looking at her relieved look, Derek felt unhappy. When she was with others, she was not so careful for

fear of being discovered.

Was he not good enough to be with her in her eyes?

"Are you afraid of being discovered that I stay with you?" Derek started the car and his tone was

gloomy.

Meredith sensed that he was unpleasant. She was a little confused, but still answered honestly,

"Grandpa Xavier said I should keep the secret and never let anyone know our relationship."

Hearing it, Derek's look, which was dark bettered. It was Mr. Xavier's order. She was obedient.

"Do you feel wronged?"

"I have nothing to wrong about." Meredith lowered her head. It was normal that the Xaviers did not

want to have links with her in such a situation. Even her own family despised her. How could she be

wronged for such things?

Derek looked at Meredith's calm expression. She spoke so frankly that no one would think she was

lying. But he could feel that she was sad.

He was sad as if his heart was pricked by a needle, but Derek did not say anything. They drove away

from the venue soon and headed for the headquarters of the Xavier Group.

However, he suddenly stepped on the brake halfway and said, "I'm going out for a while."

Meredith nodded. Derek came back soon with a small bag in his hand, which contained several kinds

of painkillers.

Meredith didn't expect him to stop to buy medicine for her. She looked at him and was stunned. Derek

looked at her swollen ankle.

Along the way, she had not said a word. If he hadn't caught a glimpse of the sweat on her face, he

would have forgotten about it.

"Take off your shoes. Let me apply the medicine to your ankle."
