Chapter 2409
"What?!"
The archaeological exploration team were left further confused and were shocked as Sylvie restrained her rage and told them everything. "What?!"
They knew Ernest had a fight with Sylvie but did not expect the bastard to attempt murder!
"It's all our fault, chief!"
They all promptly apologized, since Sylvie would really have gotten killed.
Sylvie gave them a thorough dressing down, before wheeling on Paula Radach, her deputy. "Forget Ernest Lane-what do you think you're doing?"
Paula appeared apologetic. "Sorry. Ernest told us that some officials were asking for us, so "
"You're fired!" Sylvie snapped icily.
"Wait!" Paula exclaimed, flustered. "I shouldn't have believed a bastard like Ernest, but this is an understandable mistake, right?!"
The rest of the archaeological exploration team agreed. "Exactly. There are plenty
of reasons that this happened at all-you should give her a chance."
Sylvie, however, laughed icily. "Give her a chance? Then who's giving me a chance? Also, you claim it's some officials asking for you-why would they try to reach you through the son of a construction team's superintendent?!
"Even if they didn't have your number, they would just go to you personally. Why would they ask you to come here instead?! Do you really think I can't tell what you're planning?"
Sylvie was not that naive-Paula clearly wanted to replace her, which was why she turned a blind eye to Ernest's antics despite knowing what he was up to.
It was certainly a cunning plan, but it just did not work out for Paula. After all, she did not expect Frank's power to increase exponentially and beyond human comprehension.
Still, seeing that Sylvie was determined, Paula smirked. "You're just a team leader. You don't have a say in human resources."
Sylvie shrugged, having already anticipated that. "You're right, I don't-but I can still report to the higher-ups that you're guilty of catastrophic negligence! And trust me, that's the softest punishment you can get. If it were up to the brat over here, you'd be dead!
Paula clenched her knuckles. "So you're really going down this road, huh?!"
"Yes!"noveldrama
Sylvie had no intention to be
reasonable, not when her opponent
was resorting to emotional
blackma in the face of injustice. Such types of people somehow never thought about that when they were hurting others, in turn exposing their self-centered natures.
"Fine. Just you wait-I'll show you!"
And with that threat, Paula stormed off.
Seeing what just happened, the other members of the archaeological exploration
team promptly flocked around Sylvie.
"We had no part in this. Please look the other way!"
"No, you're all guilty of negligence," Sylvie growled coolly. "But
considering that this is your first
offense and innocence, your punishment would just be
vel
three-thousand word reflection
letters." n
At those words, the archaeological exploration team sighed in relief.
That was perhaps the lightest punishment they could hope for, as they would be in for it if Sylvie complained to the higher ups.
And after ensuring that they were keeping their jobs, the archaeological exploration team was now curious. "By the way, chief... How did you make it out?"
Sylvie then pointed at Frank. "He got us out-simple as that. Using some higher power, he held up the hypogeum that was about to collapse."
"What?!" Everyone was left trading glances.
What do you think?
