Chapter 487 Mentally Exhausted

"I-It's okay. Don't bother."

Kingsley was perspiring profusely at the suggestion because he had dinner with Alice last night.

It would blow his cover if Victoria introduced him to Alice.

I can't dwell on this conversation. Thus, he glanced at his watch. "Victoria, I have to go. I have things to do."

"All right. You go ahead." Victoria nodded. "I plan to go shopping later anyway. See you."

Desperate to get out of there, he paid her words no mind and simply bid her farewell before leaving.

After he left, Xaria finally walked out of the kitchen and approached Victoria with a smile on her face. "Miss, that's a nice suit. Where did you get it? I'd like to have one too. Your choice of lipstick color is also marvelous. I'm happy to find us having similar tastes in fashion."

Xaria, or her code name Stork, was a clever woman. She tactfully approached Victoria by starting a conversation based on women's shared interest in fashion and cosmetics.

As a figure in the underworld, Victoria was indeed straightforward and generous. Her character was hinted at in her answer. "I bought them from the shopping mall in the north of the city. It's not a well- known brand, but its products are top quality."

"For real?" Xaria took a seat next to her and feigned enthusiasm. "Can you show me the way? I'm from out of town, so I don't know the way around here."

Victoria nodded and agreed, "Of course, I'm just about to go shopping. You can join me if you're free." NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

She saw no point in rejecting a simple request as she grew up around a bunch of easy-going men.

Therefore, the pair soon became friends as Xaria approached Victoria on purpose.

After Kingsley left Thinking Cup Coffee, he drove back to Reene's villa.

A well-groomed Reene was waiting for him on the couch.

Once he stepped inside the house, she walked over to him with a smile. "Have you eaten lunch? Do you want to take a break? We can go to—"

Trailing off, she suddenly took a sniff. "Kingsley, did you have lunch with a woman? The perfume smells familiar."

Kingsley couldn't bring himself to answer honestly. "There were many people in the restaurant just now. I had to share the table with another girl."

"Really?" Reene had her doubts. "Do you want to get changed and have a nap upstairs?"

"There's no need." He shook his head. "I'm not tired. We can go now."

He wasn't physically tired, but he was mentally exhausted.

All his sisters were clever women. He had to be extra careful because he couldn't risk exposing himself.

After that, the pair arrived at Wynn Manor.

The Wynns hadn't removed the flowers and candles outside the manor as if they were still grieving Henry's death.

At least, the scene was giving Kingsley such an impression.

Henry's death didn't affect them that much at all.

Their priority was to reclaim Clark Corporation.

Reene rang the bell, and her adoptive father, Elijah, answered the door.

He knitted his brows at the sight of her. "How dare you show up here, Reene? You have no idea what your mother and I went through the last couple of days. It's all because you refused to give us back the company! Here's the last warning. You must either return the company to us or pay me 150 million for raising you after all these years."

At that, his focus finally snapped to Kingsley, who stood on the side the whole time.

"You punk! How dare you show your face here again!" Elijah was shaking uncontrollably as he pointed his finger at Kingsley. "Things wouldn't have gone this bad if it wasn't for you! You must have a lot of

nerve to show up."

After that, he rushed into the house and shouted, "Clarence! That Nicholson kid is here!"

Kingsley ignored the fuss and took Reene's hand. "Come on, Reene. Let's go inside."
