Chapter 1570
"His health's really picked up lately, thanks to your amazing herbal remedies," Nick remarked, reminiscing about the past. He added with a hint of curiosity, "You haven't met Chester yet, but I bet he'd really take to you."
Otherwise, he wouldn't have taken the medicine Mirabella brought along.
Nick sighed inwardly. Ever since Nellie passed, Chester had been like a shell of his former self, completely neglecting his health. Sometimes Nick thought that if it weren't for his sense of duty and revenge, Chester might not have made it this far. But now, seeing Chester care about his well-being was a promising sign.
With these thoughts swirling, Nick glanced over at his sister, a mix of feelings washing over him. Despite her enigmatic nature, since she'd come home, subtle yet significant changes had been happening-changes none of the brothers could've managed.
Unaware of Nick's musings, Mirabella cupped her face with her hands and replied with confidence, "You know what they say, good looks are always likable."
Nick couldn't help but chuckle, wondering which side of the family she got her boldness from. Shaking his head, he shifted gears, "I'll get Atlas to arrange a few folks to keep an eye on you for a bit."
"Hmm?" Mirabella looked at Nick, surprised he was already clued in about tonight's incident.
"I'm just worried about last year's fiasco happening again," Nick referred to the time she was kidnapped at the airport.
Mirabella caught on, calmly dismissing his concern, "No need, Nick. It won't happen again."
Nick hesitated but eventually let it drop. "Alright then, just be careful."
"I will, Nick," Mirabella said, her lashes slightly lowered, concealing her true feelings.
She knew she had things to handle, and she'd been ready.
The two didn't chat much longer and soon retreated to their rooms.
After taking a shower, Mirabella stepped out with wet hair, still dripping. As she towel-dried her hair, she thought of Cassie and reached for her phone.
She dialed his number.
The call connected quickly. Mirabella lazily slid open the glass door and stepped onto the balcony. "Home yet?"
Cassie, on the other end, didn't answer right away. He glanced at the clock on his phone.
It had been two hours and ten minutes since his sister had ditched him, and only now did she ask if he'd made it home. If something bad pened, it would've been too late.
Love sure does fade.
Cassie grumbled, "I'm amazed you even remembered me."
Mirabella raised an eyebrow, casually teaning on the balcony
railing, her eyes on the distant
view "Did you bring a lot of medicine with you this time?" fo
"Why do you want to know?" Cassie shot back, defensive. "I didn't bring any!"
Mirabella: "..."
"...I don't want yours. What's with the big fuss?" Mirabella retorted, feeling a bit exasperated.
Cassie remained on guard, "You know how tightfisted you are."
Mirabella: "..."

"Alright, get some sleep. I'm hanging up," Mirabella said, not wanting to drag the conversation out, and ended the call.
She had forgotten that Cassie
