"But Mira, the conference is packed with international big shots. It'd be a real shame if you didn't go," Blake insisted, hoping his persistence would eventually sway her.

"That's exactly why I can't go and embarrass everyone," Mirabella replied lazily, nodding to humor him.

Mirabella chuckled, casually grabbing the coffee pot and topping off Blake's cup before smoothly changing the subject.
